Outside entrance to New Renaissance Bookshop. Bargain books fill the porch. Have a look!

New Renaissance Bookshop carries the largest selection of spiritual books in Oregon. But they are much more than a bookshop. They carry crystals, jewelry, incense, cards, aromatherapy products, clothes, journals, home decor items, CDs, DVDs and much much more. Every time I walk in to this store I get a sense of calm and relaxation. There is incense burning and terrific spiritual music playing. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. New Renaissance occupies four Victorian houses and includes an event center. Browsing the store is so much fun. There is something of interest here for everyone. Highly recommend visiting New Renaissance Bookshop.

This is a darling little shop with a great selection of books regarding spirituality and astrology. They have tons of charming knick knacks, gifts, and crystals. I went close to closing time so I didn't get to fully explore everything they have to offer because I ran out of time but I will definitely go back. Only took off 1 star because I'm a total rockhound and their prices are way higher than some local competitors. Other than high prices, this place is great. Its worth it to pay more sometimes to support local businesses.

Ron R. & I went a little nutty on purchasing incense lol. So much fun here!

They have everything spiritual here from candles to crystals to chakra bowls and books! Ron R. & I shall be back for sure! Loved the vibe in here and that they made sure that everyone sanitized before touching any of the specimens. I appreciated all the sales associates' honesty when they couldn't identify certain crystals and looked them up. Feel good and Support your local shops people!

A friend brought me here after I told her I was looking for a place that offered a nice variety of crystals, similar to Psychic Eye in L.A. She had mentioned this place a few times and we finally made it. I love the area on 23rd and we made our way up to the super cute Victorian style store. I personally felt very cramped since this is a house converted into a shop. Every time I walked or turned I felt l would bump into something/someone. You would think for a new age/spiritual shop the employees would have a more pleasant energy about them, but honestly they didn't. I agree with some other reviews noticing the same thing. The best thing about this store is they do have an abundant variety of most anything! You need some tarot cards? They have tons to choose from, Crystals? They have bowls overflowing with them along with cute little descriptions. And the books... they have a generous amount in this niche. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for unique gifts and it has something for all different levels of zen seekers, just avoid the staff to stay that way!

Really amazing books for those seeking "alternative" guidance. I love their tarot and Wiccan collection. It's a real awesome place to just visit and calm down. I ended up buying a carnelian and tiger's eye mala necklace.

I absolutely adore this book shop! Not only do they have books on practically any metaphysical topic but they also offer candles, essential oils, crystals and workshops. I can't wait to join them for their free meditation workshops. Dorothy was extremely helpful and friendly. When I told her I was new to the neighborhood she went out of her way to give me a map of the neighborhood and even made suggestions on books/dvds for my next visit based on my purchase. Such friendly and helpful staff, will definitely be coming back.

This massive bookstore has an incredible selection, with something for every type of reader. I could easily spend hours exploring every corner. One of the highlights is the Rare Book Room, it's fascinating to see these book treasures up close. They even have a copy of The Journals of Lewis and Clark valued at $350K! It's like stepping into a small museum for me. The staff members were friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. The entire store has a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes me want to stay longer. highly recommend stopping by. It's one of the places that makes you appreciate the joy of books.

Personally, I also like looking through what I'd call their impulse buys. Stickers, clothing, tote bags and other assorted "gifts". They have a ton of stuff to choose from and all unique and not mass produced. So take some time while visiting or otherwise and stroll through this piece of history and celebrate its independence!

My Son led me here last weekend when I was in town. There was lots of notebooks, pens, and other stuff to consider, and having a Kinokuniya membership (10% off) was a bonus. David was more interested in the manga books, and we were happy browsing in our own little corners. We both happily came away with a small collection of treasures and a promise to return. There were lots of folks here, making the aisles a little tight. But checkout moved quickly and efficiently.

The store is much larger than the one in Chicago! So of course there was a much wider selection of goods, including a lot more Alien Stage items (know the teens are a fan of this show). We ended up signing up for the annual membership which gives you 10% off your purchase immediately and you rack up points (who doesn't love points) which will add up to more savings. We purchased a hard to find art book. Service was friendly, and answered all the questions we had on the membership, not rushing us at all to make the decision.
