Great rock shop, chock full of everything from crystal displays, small specimens and jewelry to large incredibly beautiful museum quality pieces. Cool Buddhist stone statues and such. Rough rock and mineral specimens or polished slabs, shapes and spheres. Very knowledgeable owner. I think you call first so she can open the door for you. Beautiful old building, street parking not bad at all. Kinda rough old industrial neighborhood with bridges and lots of homeless folks camping about. Nothing serious at all. I think open till 7pm. We were in the neighborhood, but noticed on yelp that this business is "by appointment only". It was a Tuesday afternoon, but we figured they couldn't really be that busy right? So we called, we were told to show up, and to call again to enter as they lock the entrance. It's the other side of downtown, across the river, so it's pretty funky. But no problem! Expect street parking as well. Upon arrival, we called and waited outside, and less than 3 minutes later we entered. Its understandable that they let customers in this way as it's not the greatest of walkable neighborhoods. They've got a really great selection of rocks, crystals, and some fossils. I'm more into fossils than I am rocks/minerals. Pricing appears to be average to upper-average, but I'm not much of an expert as well tbh. I go for what looks 'pretty' and 'cool-looking' versus what's rare and cost more. "Amateurish" is the term for myself I guess lol! We did have good interactions with (I believe her name was) Taylor, who knew her stuff. Whatever we asked for, she knew where it was. I've been to about six other rock stores around Portland, but in comparison this place would be in the middle, about 4th best out of six, regarding what they have in stock. This wonderful store was a gem of a find for me, see what I did there? I was amazed to see it as I almost passed it by. Gems, minerals, stones, any such treasures are one of my favorite things. It's by appointment only, but the friendly employee let us in. What a treasure trove we found inside. Whether or not you're a rock hound or gem lover, this colorful store is just not to be missed. There is every type of beautiful gemstone in almost every shape and form possible. I make jewelry and got a few items to incorporate into my pieces, along with a lovely angel and mushroom figurine in beautiful colors as gifts for friends. There are some pieces that would work beautifully as a piece on a mantel or table. Would be perfect for housewarming gifts, memorable occasion gifts, etc. The sky is the limit. You can spend a lot or a little, from the very small to large ornate pieces. Most pieces aren't marked, but priced according to stone and weight. Even if not buying it's nice to just browse, touch and be captivated by all there is to see. Everything is nicely displayed and organized according to its shape/form. Amazing selection, fair pricing, open late (call first). Rocks are priced by weight and type, so even though they're displayed in more of a "bulk" setting, things end up costing about as much as other places. Where these guys crush it is with depth and variety of inventory. Wear your mask, don't be afraid of small happy dogs. Tip: if you get there and the store is locked, call anyway, they might be there but helping others. read more

I've been to many crystal stores in my life & this place is definitely in my top 3. I try to not come so often (I have no self control when I come here lol) but I do come frequently-- considering it's about a 30 minute drive for me. They are constantly putting out new items & I love looking at everything. I could be in here for an entire day & still not see everything they have. I loveeee the new set up! If this is your first time going, most items do not have a price labeled & you have to ask. If there's a handful of people in there, I suggest collecting what you like & asking about the prices when you're about ready to check out. It makes it easier for you, the employees & the other customers. If you aren't interested in something after they tell you the price, they don't make you feel bad or try to sell it to you, which is a huge relief if you're like me & have anxiety when shopping. The owner is extremely knowledgeable & can tell you everything about each specimen just from looking at it. She can list off where it is from, the properties, how it is made, etc. I especially love the specimen that are behind the cage, because those ones all have where the crystal was found (not just the location, but which mine!) & it makes it easier to do your research! Josh is extremely helpful in helping me find new things & is so so so nice. Reagan has been doing a wonderful job helping out customers the last few weeks. I love coming here with my partner & the children I nanny. The younger boy (7) I watch takes no interest in anything ever when we go out, but every time we come here, he ends up leaving happy because he found something super cool! The older boy (12) lovesss crystals & asks to come here every Saturday (we regretfully do not because I have hard time not draining my bank account when I come here lol). I have recommended this place to so many people & I know of at least a dozen of those people have come here. read more

I love this place! The owner is very kind. I have nothing but nice things to say. Every business owner is doing their best to run their business in ways that best suits them in these times. She has built an amazing business from what I can see. From reading the reviews, it seems like some people expect the business to cater to their needs. Not every business is like that. I would suggest calling and making an appointment, or if you go there, Call while outside, they may be on the phone or helping a customer. I would suggest keeping in mind that they are in a downtown area where businesses are having a hard time due to crime and homelessness. So they may feel safer keeping the doors locked. What I do know is they have amazing product and if you want to shop there, just understand that. This business is putting the public and anyone they let through their doors at risk they are not supporting the public during a pandemic not one employee is wearing a mask and they refuse to wear masks they claim that it's a "personal preference" this is a slap in the face to every hospital front line worker out there as well as everyone trying to navigate through this horrible pandemic and I would highly recommend avoiding patronizing this place! While their inventory is beautiful their commitment to the public and health and "thinking of safety others" is absolutely atrocious. read more

We called seeing if they were open and they assured us they were. We said, "awesome, see you soon." We got there within a half hour. The doors were locked and signage said appointments only. Seeing as someone was in the store (I mean, we called AND could see someone inside), they could have mentioned it when we called minutes previously. No worries, I've got no intention of going back. My partner and I passed the store while driving by and the array of crystals caught are eyes immediately and we spontaneously stopped in. When we arrived at the doors they were locked and a sign said "by appointment only", but then the employees who worked there opened the doors as we were reading the sign and let us in. We were instantly greeted by two lovely dogs. One was especially fond of my partner and requested lots of pets as went around looking at the beautiful collection of crystals in this store. I found a lovely piece to add to my collection and checkout went smooth and fast. I definitely will be returning for some bigger purchases. read more

The best rock shop in portland. I have been twice now and the employees and owner are very knowledgeable and friendly. Their stuff is very well-priced and they have amazing quality and variety. Cannot recommend this place enough! They weigh everything out when giving you prices & they are definitely one of the more fairly priced places especially in portland!
