ATTN NEW PATIENTS--Be extremely careful when this office gives you a price quote on your treatment plan. I had an itemized treatment plan with the new patient promo. My "total patient responsibility" price was even circled and signed off by the manager, J.D., at my consultation. Dr. Guerrero is great, so I scheduled, and came back to have the work done, exactly as planned. At checkout, post treatment, they would not honor the price that was signed off on. The manager was aggressive and in the end, I was bullied into paying an extra hundred dollars over what I was supposed to. if you have an appointment with Dr. MENDOZA do yourself a favor and find a New Dr. HE IS RUDE and has not one ounce of people skills. I was waiting 2 1/2 hours. I had a 3 o'clock appointment and I finally walked out at 5. After and hour and 45 minutes they put me in a room. He walked into the room, after I was in there for a little while, said Nothing to me when he walked into. He goes bending me to the counter and after a few minutes asked me my last name. Said ok then walked out and never came back! I got up walked to the front desk and complained. There was another Dr, there. Dr. Guerrero who could not stop appologizing to me. He felt so bad for me. The other jack ass dr. Rounds the corner, SEES me at the front desk and quickly turns around and goes the other way. This Jack ass has NO people skills. He saw me again and still said not a word to me, he IGNORED ME. I scheduled this appointment 2 weeks prior to have all my top teeth pulled out and a couple on the bottom. NOPE, didn't get done. I will Never step foot in that office again. I have had nothing but problems with that office since DAY 1 and the only reason why I stayed was because I can walk there from my house. Where do I begin? I have been coming to this place for years. The only reason I keep coming back is for Dr. Bockian. If I could give 0 stars I would. So I had a deep cleaning about a year or so ago, that they insisted I needed. Went ahead and it done, now that I want to go back for a regular cleaning, guess what? I don't qualify for a regular cleaning, (which is cover by my insurance)ever again in my lifetime, because I had a deep cleaning. From now on I need to have what they called "maintenance cleaning" which of course is not cover by my insurance and I will have to pay $120.00 every time I have a cleaning. And I would not get into the price they gave me for an implant, because I'm really exhausted and apalled at this Dental Office. I'm giving this place 2 stars because the lady that greeted us was extremely helpful and friendly. Sadly it all went downhill from there.... I made an appt for a cleaning and xrays. However, only X-rays were done and was told they couldn't do the cleaning because they were booked. So I said " I specifically made this appt to get a cleaning" I told them who and when I made the appt with. RE: Apparently exorbitant costs of dental work. I went to Sage Dental because they were part of the AvMed Medicare Delta Dental program. The staff and the doctor were were very nice; but they didn't have any response when I questioned the apparently "very high priced detailed quotation" for the dental work. They quoted me $7,121.00 for a new lower implant denture plate and $4,625.00 to repair the old broken denture plate (to have a spare plate). That is a total quote of $11,746.00. Another dentist on the Delta Dental plan quoted $6,000.00 and $3 000.00 respectively for the same work. (They even admitted that the repair costs of $3K was rather ridiculous; but that was their published rate.) Total quote for same scope of work was $9,000.00. My original dentist, who wasn't a member of the AvMed Medicare Delta Dental program, quoted $2,750.00 for a new lower implant denture AND there was NO CHARGE for the repair of the old broken plate (since I was ordering a new one). His TOTAL QUOTED PRICE was $2,750.00. So, the quoted charges for the SAME EXACT SCOPE of Work were: Sage: $7,121 + $4,625 = $11,746.00 Dentist #2: $6,000 + $3,000 = $9,000.00 Dentist #3: $2,750 + $0.0. = $2,750.00 Quite a difference, huh? $8,996.00 MORE or almost FOUR TIMES the costs. Another acquaintance of mine, who is under the SAME dental plan, went in for a routine cleaning recently. Sage charged them something like $35.00 for "an insurance fee of some sort". When the patient checked with Delta Dental, they were told that it was an improper charge to an insured patient. Sage subsequently credited the charge. Five or six years ago, when I was having the original work done, I had a similar experience with Sage having a very high price quote (in the upper $20Ks) compared to getting the work done for less than $6,000.00. (Still have all of the quotations.) So, it is probably prudent to get "second opinions and quotatons" for major dental work. read more

1.During a routine exam, I explained that I had a small lump on the roof of my mouth. They said to make an appointment with the oral surgeon to remove it and do a biopsy. When I came in to see the oral surgeon I sat in the chair and he put the bib on me and right before tipping me back to start they asked me to sign "some forms" before starting... The forms were me acknowledging that I was financially responsible for all charges related to the procedure, in case my insurance did not pay. When I asked if they would be submitting the bills to my insurance they confirmed that they would. So I signed and he performed the procedure (it took about 10 seconds). When I left the exam room and came to the front desk, the office manager explained that I would need to pay $649 for today's visit. I asked why and she said that they will be submitting my claim to my dental insurance but if it was not paid by them then I would be responsible for the amount. They were collecting the amount due from me now, and when the dental insurance paid them, they would reimburse me the amount. I was not happy but they would not let me leave without paying. After 30 days went by, I did not hear anything from them. I stopped in to the Sage office to ask about what happened with my claim, they said it was denied by my dental insurance because the procedure I had was considered a "medical procedure" not a dental procedure. They advised me that I could try to submit it to my medical insurance to get reimbursed. I submitted it to my medical insurance and they explained that Sage Dental is an out-of-network provider and my out-of-network deductible had not been met, so this amount would go towards my deductible... one month later I receive a bill for $155 for the lab work done on my biopsy. This lab was also out-of-network and this also went towards my deductible... So, I am out $804... They knew from the very beginning that my dental insurance was not going to cover the procedure and that they were out-of-network for my medical insurance... they could have recommended me to have the procedure done at an in-network provider, but instead they just asked me to sign forms while sitting in the chair and collecting the money from me on the way out the door... shameful... 2. Last year my wife was experiencing severe tooth pain. She could not sleep, her jaw was throbbing. She called Sage Dental to see if she can get in, but unfortunately there were no appointments available, the next appointment was only after 3 - days. She said that she is in severe pain and asked if they don't have the ability to see her because it is an emergency. They said no, because "they do not do emergency appointments". So she accepted the appointment after 3-days and suffered through the pain (which got even worse by then) until her appointment arrived. She arrived on time and was asked to have a seat. 30 minutes later, she went to ask what is happening. They apologized and said that they had to push her appointment back, because there was an emergency appointment that came up suddenly. They asked her to be patient and they would be with her shortly. After another 30 minutes they finally finished with the emergency patient and were able to see her... They had no explanation for her as to why they allowed this person to be seen on an emergency basis and bump her appointment when she was in fact having an emergency situation herself. Again, shameful.... 3. We recently moved away from the area and needed to find a new dentist. The new dentist requested that we contact our previous dentist (Sage Dental) to ask them to provide our historical dental records. Two weeks ago I reached out to Sage Dental customer service who agreed to send a medical release form. no form was sent. sent a message yesterday requesting the form, they said someone would contact us - nothing. Called again today and was told that "everyone was at lunch, please call back after 2:30"... If you are looking for a dentist in Pembroke Pines, keep looking... read more

I would not recommend anyone use this dentist. For your first visit they require you have a cleaning and when you are there you make an appointment for a future date. After my cleaning they said "oh we can do it now", but I had to return to work. The dentists were nice. The hygienists were walking around on their cell phones in the back in view of patients. After relocating, I called to get my dental records. It took me 5 full weeks, multiple follow ups (every 3 days), and calling multiple times. The customer service is a huge let down. I've been going to this office for over 25 years--since long before it was Sage Dental! Dr. Bockian and Dr. Cowan are incredible, highly skilled and so good you don't even feel the injection! (if you need one, that is!) My son had Dr. Marta Ortiz as his pediatric dentist, until he grew out of pediatric care. She is awesome! Gentle, personable, and so good with kids. I live in Cooper City, so coming to this office is a bit out of the way for me. In fact, there's a Sage Dental about 2 minutes from my house. But this office is so spectacular (and the staff are terrific too!), I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. read more

I came here to get a regular cleaning ( which I must admit has been years). I did the first time package of $69 for an exam, X-rays, and cleaning. The price in it self is really affordable ( since I did shop around before hand). The whole staff is awesome! My cleaning was done my Joanna Patterson ( I'm not 100% sure that was her first name but I am sure about the last name). She was amazing! She explained everything she was about to do, offered me a blanket and everything. She goes out of her way to teach and explain things to you, and is extremely knowledgable. I am extremely disappointed not only I was told Sage Dental accept my insurance. I've scheduled an appointment for prophylaxis. The dentist removed one my tooth which was not bother me at all. He said he would be best for me to have a bridge since I had one missing all way back in my right jaw. I replied that it doesn't matter because I do not like to eat anyway. After looking at my insurance,the x-rays results of my teeth etc.. the dentist told me, I would have to pay $4371 out of my pocket. Fees for prophylaxis,one root canal and one bridge added because unfortunately by experience your insurance Delta Dental USA will not pay". I replied that I will think about it. I paid the fees for the visit and partial prophylaxis because the hygienist was very busy and I would have to come back any way for my treatment. Less than two weeks later, I went back for follow up. One young dentist or orthodontist whom, by the way was so so nice that he even accepted my five years old daughter to be present. I paid $1471 cash that day. To conclude since unfortunately i have no space, on my 3rd visit I was mistaking by another patient. Thank God I am a nurse and I could understand spanish. I was the wrong patient on their stretcher. They claimed they have another patient scheduled with the same first and last name, same date of birth moreover same year as mine. Embarrassed I was called by the hygienist who clean my tooth in less then ten minutes to avoid.... After about 6 weeks, I am still experiencing severe toothache. read more

The new dentist Dr. Gonzalez is terrible. He saw my son and said he needed a cleaning. Made an appointment for the cleaning and when he gets to the hygienist she tells him it will be $150 for a deep cleaning assigned by Dr. Gonzalez. I was never told about this deep cleaning by the dentist and plus I didn't even sign a treatment plan. As per the hygienist I was suppose to legally. So much disorganization on so many levels. To tell you the truth I am not even sure why I still go there. Maybe because it is so close to my house. They told me I needed to have an upper back tooth pulled because of bone loss and to have a bottom lower tooth pulled because of bone loss. The periodontist, Dr. Cunningham was the person recommending this. I decide to go to an oral facial surgeon and pay the $125.00 evaluation fee. After taking his own x- rays he told me that yes the bottom tooth should be pulled but of bone wasn't added after extraction that the tooth in front would eventually be affected. As to the tooth in the upper part of my mouth he said that there wasn't enough space for an implant because I needed a sinus lift to make space for the proper amount of bone to be added. Without the sinus lift there was only a 6 millimeter space . You need at least 11-12 millimeter space. The implant he told me would end up failing. I then went to another oral surgeon who charged me nothing for the evaluation. I received the same info that I was given by the first oral surgeon. So, if you need extensive and expensive work done I suggest you get another opinion. I'm glad I did!!!! They do have great dental hygienist there . read more

If you want to hang out at the dentists office for 3 hours this is the place to be. You make an appointment 1 month in advance for check up and cleaning and they can't even get you in and out in one day. Show up they check you in 1 hour later you see the Dr.. Then they tell you that cleanings are scheduled on different days than check up. So you make appointment for cleaning. After showing up 1.5hours later your still sitting lobby waiting. They make a simple process agonizing long process. Don't think this only happens at pines location as I tried the Cooper City location and it was the same deal. read more

I just recently got two root canal from Dr. Bochion and I couldn't be happier. The one star was taken off for pricing, but it's an expensive procedure wherever you go. I did have dental insurance and the office staff took the time to tell me the coverage I had and explained the charges. FYI, for your first visit a dental cleaning is not a consultation. I went in to Ssge dental to follow up on a cleaning after X-ray exam. I spoke to Renee who usually is outstanding, but she missed the mark today by mentioning how she never forgets a conversation or follow up, but didn't follow up to call me to schedule a cleaning. I was shipped to the billing department to set up a cleaning which i thought was odd. She told me I needed a deeper cleaning instead of the basic cleaning & that was my only option. I didn't disagree with the Dr. Yu assessment, but didn't have the fund for the higher cleaning. I wanted to decline the higher service & get the basic service. We still live in a world where we have choices. They said no, & only gave me there options. The billing department was horrible & Dr. Yu is out of touch with working citizens. read more

Loving this dentist office. They were very helpful on the phone helping me set up my daughters first appointment. From the moment we walked in the staff was super friendly and accommodating to us. My daughter was extremely nervous and they did everything to keep her calm. They explained all the tools they were using and promised her it wouldn't hurt.
