Our first visit here started off great. We were warmly greeted and we sat in the main dining room The place has a really great casual vibe and a comfortable feel to it. Our coffees took a bit to show up but all were pleased with what they got. Food came out relatively quickly and Zoey got a scone which she loved, nicely warmed and delish. Teresa got the Brie, lettuce and tomato sandwich and she loved that too. I was less fortunate as my breakfast bowl arrived cold. The potatoes were tasty and the whole bowl presented well, but it was stone cold. When I mentioned this to folks at the desk they said 'thank you.' I took a Star. We ordered some of their bread pudding and a slice of carrot cake to go. The bourbon bread pudding was fabulous and the carrot cake was very good, but clearly had been left out as it was dry, not the moist goodness you'd expect. All said a mediocre first experience so we'll likely give them another try at some point. read more

We're from Georgetown and occasionally meet family from Louisville here for lunch. Unfortunately, today's visit was extremely disappointing. The front door wasn't closing completely as customers came in, which resulted in flies throughout the restaurant. Before I could even finish the second half of my sandwich, a fly landed on it, and I had to throw it away. The restaurant was noticeably dirty and uncomfortably warm. We asked for the ceiling fans to be turned on, but it took quite a while before someone was able to find the switch. The locks on the women's restroom stalls didn't work, and the restaurant had also run out of ice for drinks. I'm not sure if the restaurant has changed ownership, if management was absent, or if this was simply an off day, but the experience was dramatically different from the positive visits we've had in the past. It's disappointing to see such a noticeable decline. read more

The food was delicious and the portions were huge. We waited about 25 minutes for our main courses at lunch but it was packed so I expected that. Their menu was a decent size considering. We came in for lunch to celebrate my sister's birthday. You order at the counter and grab a number. We tried a chicken Caesar wrap and two Bloody Marys. We ate here several years ago. It made a lasting impression, so when we were traveling through the area we made a special point to stop and eat here. For this visit the experience was quite different. There website lists, "Wild caught salmon." My husband and I were super excited about ordering the Thai salads to save in our cooler for later in the day. We ordered some fruit and quiche for breakfast. We took everything to go as we were trying to make time on the road. The quiche was super greasy. The fruit was the best item as it was fresh and very delicious. When we stopped later in the day for lunch we were very disappointed to see that we were not given wild caught salmon. We know what it looks like and what it takes like. The salmon was farm raised. How do we know for sure? We have an Alaska area code. We have snatched them right out of the Kenai River. Farm raised is night and day from Wild caught salmon. If you know then ya know. There is a big price difference, and we are willing to pay for it. It's very misleading to pass off farm raised as wild. Due to this we will NOT be going out of our way to return. read more

Most of restaurants today are filled with non organic and genetically modified food, aren't homemade and makes us sick, but this restaurant has everything made from scratch and is so delicious! Our group of seven had such a nice dinner at Sage. The salmon was absolutely delicious and my colleagues enjoyed their entrees as well. The decor is calming and lovely. Our hostess was very friendly, though it did take a while to get seated even with an early reservation and plenty of open tables. This place is really good. After a day at Elk Horn Creek we decided to grab some lunch here. The place is casual, but very clean and hospitable. You order at a counter and sit down. The service is quick and courteous. We both got a salad and I got soup. My wife got the Caesar with chicken and it was really good. The chicken was freshly prepared, moist and flavorful. The dressing was great. I had the Greek. The ingredients were good, but I found other than the lettuce and great Kalamatas, they skimped on the feta, bell peppers, and cucumbers. The dressing was a red wine vinaigrette. Not bad. The star of the meal was the soup which was a rice with Chicken Sausage. Fantastic!!! The unsweetened tea was really really good too. I really liked the self serve carafes of ice water and to go cups. Very handy. I would love to try some more things. Oh, the cakes looked sooo good, but we were full. Overall, great experience. It was a beautiful day today and I wanted brunch. So what to do?... jump on Yelp and type in brunch in Frankfort. This little gem the Sage Garden Cafe popped up and I knew it was the one. My partner in crime said "are we eating or visiting a nursery" when we pulled up. Lol. There is a nursery there; however, I was there for the food. There was a sign on the door asking for patience because they were low staffed. I must say I don't have a problem waiting I really don't and I thought that was a nice gesture. It was much appreciated. When you walk in the atmosphere is my kinda vibe. I am a plant lady myself. It's full of different kinds of plants. There's different types of wood on the ceiling, the floor, the tables & chairs even different shades of moss framed on the walls which was so cool! The foliage was beautiful and it made the wait not bad at all. I chose the chicken salad sandwich with a cup of tomato basil soup. I don't know who baked the bread for this sandwich but Can I have your digits!!!! Laws it was so soft and flavorful and the bits of walnuts in the bread were just Mmmmmm. I honestly took the top piece of bread off and dipped it in my soup and devoured it. I took the rest home. The tomato basil soup was warm and hearty. It was full of flavor the shaved Parmesan added a wonderful tang. I did manage to eat some of the garden salad that came beautifully dressed with oil & vinegar. The salad is served in a big silver bowl that is perfect for enjoying a salad. He also ordered the puréed potato soup. He enjoyed it; however, I like more textured potato soup. The star of this show was the delicious iced tea and the Lemon Blueberry cake. You could taste the love in this cake. It had the perfect crumb and was hands down THE best lemon blueberry cake I've ever had in my life. I'll be back for that combo again. This is the perfect spot for a foodie. Very cute and cozy cafe! This was my first time visiting the Sage Garden Cafe and it is super lovely - I especially love the plant nursery next door! The service was friendly and efficient and the food was light and fresh! The cafe had a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, and soups - I was having a late lunch of Caesar salad and it came in a massive bowl! This used to be the very best restaurant in Frankfort. Sadly, over the past three years, there has been a steady decline in quality, service, and the overall food products. One of the first times we dined at Sage restaurant, I tried their hamburger, which was literally the best hamburger I've ever eaten. We went during Covid while they were open and I was served a pre frozen, thin, dried out cold hockey puck of a burger. When I complained to the staff that the food was inedible, there was no refund offered. This was after waiting over an hour for our lunch. We were the first table in for lunch and the last to be served. Sage went from being a place that we dined at several times a month to a place that we never went back to. We watched over time as they went from a full-service restaurant to a stand at the counter and place your order while prices went up, quality plummeted and portions shrunk. Sage was always an expensive restaurant, but the quality was so high and the service so good that it felt like it was worth it. But to have the prices climb drastically, while everything else becomes less than mediocre is more than this loyal patron could handle. And then there was the Mother's Day disaster. We paid $100 for three minuscule pieces of quiche in what was basically a pick up pandemic scam, in my opinion. Prior to the pandemic, this restaurant was destined for greatness. This was where we referred friends, family, and anyone who was coming to Frankfort. Like so many others, Sage was another victim of the pandemic. We haven't been back since the burger disaster because we simply can't afford any more chances. I sincerely hope they find their way back to their original standards. read more

Our small family came here for lunch one warm day in late summer while we were out and about in Frankfort. We were really excited to try something new. Sage Garden Cafe is a small, but lovely cafe, with a gorgeous patio, and a delicious-looking array of food on the menu. I'll give them that. However. We waited a l o n g time for our food. We had our three year-old with us. Three year-olds don't wait well for their food. Needless to say, by the time our food arrived, we were ready to pack it up immediately and take it to go. In addition, our food didn't really taste that great. We were incredibly disappointed with the chips and salsa appetizer (the portion was incredibly small for the price and it wasn't even chips.... we were so confused) and our lunch entrees didn't make up for it. My husband had a caesar salad, which was too small for him. I had a BBT on sourdough, which WAS good, but missing one of the main ingredients! Oy. We waited so long for our food, that I didn't even bother to ask for it to be fixed. My son loved his grilled cheese sandwich (I had a bite - it really was amazing), but my husband and I weren't too impressed with our plates. I think maybe it was just a little bit too 'fancy' for us. I don't know. We aren't coming back. Also, we dropped a lot of money here that we don't usually spend when eating out. And it definitely wasn't worth the expense. Yikes. I came to eat breakfast while waiting for my buffalo trace tour; even though the day was gloomy, the ambience of the café, and the surrounding gardens were very nice. Moreover, the staff was welcoming and accommodating. For food, I got Spencer's Panini. It was pretty good, though not something I would make a specific trip to go eat. Two stars because it is beautiful here. Have glass glasses and ceramic plates and flowers everywhere. Love the ice water in glass jars. Atmosphere is nice and well decorated (we are plant people) The service was atrocious. It's been awhile since we've seen such apathy. What's worse is you have to tip BEFORE you get the bad service, so unless you come back and tip 0 they won't know they aren't good. Bacon was good but cold and the eggs only come scrambled, based on their taste I'm assuming they have premixed egg mixture. Sourdough toast tastes like white bread, definitely not home made or anything close to that (think Kroger sourdough bread in the aisle, not from the bakery) Overall won't come back to eat, maybe to look at the plants and enjoy the atmosphere, but eat breakfast before you come here read more
