Was on a day trip to Versailles. Wanted something that was doggie friendly. Found Wallace by chance. Ordered the Cubano on rye and potato salad. Both hit their mark. The bread crispy and lite. The sandwich itself had good flavor, the right amount of meat and cheese porportioned, but maybe a touch more of the mustard? Potatoes done perfect and flavored just right. The outdoor deck was nice so we could sit outside with our 4 legged friend. After driving 2 hours home still full. Luckily I do get in the Lexington/Versailles area a few times a year so hopefully I can make my way back. read more

What a hidden gem! Take the family and a blanket and picnic on the property. It's quiet and inviting. Their food is amazing. I've had several of the sandwiches and even the pinto beans and cornbread. Stopped here after touring a distillery in the area. Located in a former general store, plenty of seating and food options. I ordered a grilled hot brown sandwich and a bourbon chili. Chili came with sour cream, scallions and cheese on top. The hot brown sandwich was good - a good amount of meat inside and the cheese was melted and very tasty. Food was disappointing. We should not have ordered the "local" speciality, the inside out hot brown. It was very bland a smothered in a plain thick white tasteless gravy. Now we know what white cheddar Mornay is. Just say nay. Same for the potato salad. While tipping is optional, it's a choice when paying at the counter before you are served. The service amounts to a kid yelling your name and dropping off your food. We asked for catsup and we were told where to find it. Lots of outdoor seating in the shade. Wallace Station is a lunch institution! We popped in at 11 and were in front of the lunch rush and waited no time for our food. The country ham and pimento sandwich was loaded with flavor! Others in our group ordered the Rachel and turkey club and everyone left sated and happy. Ate lunch there today and everything was horrible except the French fries. Artichoke appetizer was burnt from the deep fryer, as were the hush puppies. Inedible. Fried shrimp were also over fried and as a result were tough and chewy. Not enjoyable. No air conditioning in the inside and one of the workers said only worked for about three days this summer!! Love this place! On a beautiful Saturday afternoon it can be crowded but they accommodate! The line moves quickly and there is plenty of seating inside and out. Today the parking lot was full, but we didn't feel too crowded and we didn't have to wait too long. The country ham and pimento cheese sandwich is the one that was on the Best Things I've Ever Eaten on the Food Network and it is incredible. It doesn't get much more Kentucky than Wallace Station nestled in the heart of Kentucky horse country surrounded by thoroughbred horse farms. This is one of Chef Ouita's amazing restaurants. She sources all fresh ingredients from local Kentucky farms. I absolutely love Wallace station for their burgers. They were even featured by guy fieri for one of these such burgers. I also love their homemade desserts made by midway bakery just down the street. The lemon bar is truly the best one I've ever had. This restaurant has a small inside but pretty large deck to sit on outback and now they have a larger covered section. This was an impromptu stop for a late lunch, and Wallace Station did not disappoint! It was crowded inside due to a recent thunderstorm, but a table opened up just in time. Hubby ordered the Big Brown Burger with fries, one of Guy Fiero's top 5 burgers, and I had a panini-grilled County Ham and Pimento Cheese on whole wheat with orzo salad. As with all the DDD Guy Fieri featured places, I tried what he had recommended here: The Big Brown burger was huge! The beef was well cooked. I personally would have been okay with a medium well patty. I only had a bite to sample the triple meat (beef patty, bacon, and ham. I like a fresh tomato on my burgers and the cheddar mornay was a delicious complement to the sandwich. The staff were friendly and helpful. What I enjoyed the most, and the reason I would come back is hands-down the deck patio surrounded by mature trees and a yard with a rustic, dilapidated barn. The food was great! I had the Mediterranean wrap with roasted turkey. It had a lot of flavor and a huge portion. My daughter loves their chicken salad sandwich. It has a large amount of chicken so you can easily get your protein in!! My mom got the beans and cornbread. It was very flavorful and a bowl is just the right size. I've seen reviews for 5 years on here and other spots talking about cleanliness. Yet it's kinda getting worse. It's one of those places that never disappoints; every visit is consistently amazing. Yesterday, my mom, uncle Chuck, my girlfriend, and I all went for lunch and ordered a variety of dishes -- everything was fantastic! My girlfriend and uncle both got the Wally Burger, which they absolutely devoured. They couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy Wrap, and it was incredible -- super fresh, perfectly fried shrimp with a great crunch, and the extra toppings and sauce tied it all together perfectly. My mom went with the Mav's Hot Ham & Jalapeño, which I had to steal a bite of -- it was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of heat and seasoning. Honestly, it's one of my favorites on their menu. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and welcoming -- it has that perfect Kentucky homestyle charm. The restaurant was spotless, and even though there was a long line when we arrived, the staff kept things moving quickly. But here is my story: as to the burger, the famous big brown burger that Guy Fieri says, "sits on his top five of burgers", I need to say that the jury is out on that. I didn't try it I saw it so it's unfair for me to make a comment, but from what I've seen, jury is out I had the inside out big brown wasn't bad wasn't anything to write home about Was my journey worth it? Well, it was a nice drive and I got here before the rain. I did notice that a lot of the local merchants consign their baked goods, and prepared items in the Wallace station for purchase. We found a Food Network reference for Wallace Station. From the friendly cashier who took our order (and gave recommendations on what to see on our drive) to the clean and well decorated dining room, to the delicious food, it was a great visit! We had 2 burgers, a club sandwich with the most delicious bourbon bbq sauce, and an inside out hot brown (our first taste of one) and wow - it was all perfection! It is way too hot in there. This is an unsafe environment for both the staff and the customers. I heard one employee say it was over 90° and how they wish the owner would do something about the air conditioning. I feel nothing but sympathy for the people who have to work here in the sweltering heat, because there is no way they're getting paid enough to stand next to grills in this. It's an issue when it's cooler outside than it is inside during the warmer seasons, and I can only hope that the owner does something about this. The employees were really nice about the whole thing though, and suggested that me and my family go sit outside underneath their covered patio area in the shade. Also, one younger guy, kinda heavy set, said the R word extremely loudly while I was standing in line with my family. He should be working in the back of the restaurant if anywhere, and a couple of times when I came back in to get refills, I could see that this young man needed a belt or some well fitted pants, if you know what I mean. read more

This is such a cute place with tons of charm. Very unique experience. I came for lunch but I'll be back to try more items and spend more time here. There are some seats indoors and some seating outside - both metal tables in the deck and actual picnic tables in the yard under the trees. My husband got the meat loaf sandwich on a brioche bun which he enjoyed, but the favorite of the day was the Big Brown Burger, which was like a juicy burger that collided with a famous Kentucky Hot Brown and was then sandwiched in a panini press. II can't say enough about the food here at this place. I have been there twice already and each time I have not been disappointed. I wanted to post pictures but I found myself tasting food before I can pull out a camera so you just have to believe the other photos you see. I love everything about this place. The servers are exceptional. They're clean And the cashiers are not handling the food. The most amazing thing about the dishes that I have tried is that they are good cold and I know this because my hotel is 30 minutes away no need to warm it up just enjoy. I'm usually not a big fan of french fries but there's are crispy on the outside And just plain delicious not too much salt.
