We had a truly fantastic weekend at Sage Lodge. Our full day at Yellowstone was breathtaking--I've never seen such stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. My kids were thoroughly entertained the entire time; between exploring the grounds, fishing in the lake, and diving into the hotel's board game collection, there wasn't a bored moment. The staff was incredibly friendly and always available to help, and both on-site restaurants offered delicious food in a beautifully designed setting. It was the perfect, relaxing escape."

My family and I stayed at Sage Lodge for family vacation in the Firehole House. It was a massive house with more than enough rooms. Loved the bathtubs and bath bubbles. The lodge is quaint and great activities. We did the hike to Chico Cemetery during the week which allows to see animals and beautiful scenery. We did a 2-day tour with Sage lodge and had Carly who was an amazing guide! She gave so many facts (scientific and historical) and provided such a wonderful experience. We also did the leather crafting workshop which was super fun. There is a restaurant on site which is only open for dinner which I was bummed about since the only other place was the main restaurant in the hotel and had get creative with our food choices. The cookie and toffi pudding was really good as desserts. Zach at the front desk was super nice and silly. Nick and Scott were fantastic fly fishing guides. They were very helpful and supportive and it was fun catching fish. A great place to stay.

The fireside room was delicious. One of our favorite meals in Montana. The steak was super tender and flavorful. I also enjoyed my huckleberry cocktail.

Wow! What a stunningly beautiful resort! We love SAGE Lodge. We had a short visit and enjoyed the stunning views, and delicious tasting menu with wine pairings. It was incredible! Such a great experience, we can wait to come back!

Wow! Passing through did not stay here but got Lunch at the Fireside Lodge. The place was super clean and the staff was so friendly. They even helped us try and locate some Moccasins, everyone was super helpful and genuinely friendly. The view was stunning and it looks like if you stay here they have a lot to do for you. The food was absolutely gourmet. Well needed everything was cooked to perfection and the flavor was delicious. So happy we found this place, ended up eating on the other side of Sage lake at a picnic area but the photos was of there outdoor eating section.

I miss the vacation in safe lodge. Amazing view from hotel rooms and the lodge. Amazing quality of food. Just remember to book free hotel activities a head of time. We were not able to join the free yoga/ hiking classes because it was booked full. They have free bicycle renting, s'more package at the front desk only if you asked. Nice vacation with family and friends.

Amazing getaway even on the off season! Looking forward to coming back in the summer! My wife and I decided to take a relaxing few days off in Paradise Valley and embrace the Montana winter. We ate in the Fireside room, went on walks, played games in the lobby, and enjoyed the hot tub all to ourselves with a snowy view of the mountains. The fireside room is recommended! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing like ending the day with a smoked old fashioned and an elk steak! They also had some fun events, like a guided hike and a class on tying your own fly for fly fishing. I recommend doing as many complimentary (included) activities!

This place is a dream ! Very secluded in the village of Emigrant, MT right next to the Mt. Emigrant off US-89. It is nearly 1/2 way between Gardnier, MT and Livingston, MT. If you are looking for a place to stay that is highly rated and it is close enough to the Yellowstone National Park you found it ! It took me weeks researching for the perfect location to stay in April (before the other entrances of the park open) and I am glad I chose Sage Lodge. The rooms are so cozy and nicely decorated. The shower, bed are all great, the room views are priceless. There's a NESPRESSO machine on your room ! The hot tub is fantastic, has a great view of Mt. Emigrant. While we were at the lodge we experienced sun and snow. We were inside the tub while the snow was falling off. It was a magical experience (more magical than Disney for sure -- absolutely no comparison). The SPA is OUTSTANDING. Yes, it is pricey, but in my opinion it was worth it. I got a facial and my wife got a massage. We were both extremely satisfied. We would have stayed longer in the SPA but we were traveling with kids so we couldn't spend much time there. The food is phenomenal. Best Chicken and Waffles I have ever had. My only complaint on the restaurant is that they nickel and dime you for small things. The restaurant should be profiting out of other things, not on soda refills. That's just so so so low... please, don't do that! Charge a $1 or $2 more on your food plates but don't charge $3 for every soda/juice refills. We were also charged for a "side swap" on my daughters dish. The restaurant removed the charges but it was not something they liked to do. Everyone is so nice here, everyone is happy, everyone brings lots of positivity to your vacation. If you are looking to escape from the fear the media is spreading around this is the exact place to come ! The front desk staff is very helpful. There are equipment to borrow at no additional charge. We borrowed the binoculars and glad we did, so we could see the wolves at the park. There are great options to eat around the hotel, you don't need to eat here every day if you don't want to. Hikes around the hotel are awesome, you can even hike close to the trail head that takes you to the top of Mt. Emigrant (if you are up for a mountain climb). You will never run out of things to do here, that's for sure. To end... I would like to say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. I do travel A LOT and it is very hard to find an extraordinary property like this. We are already looking forward to come back again!

The place is very cozy. It is pretty cold outside. The view is beautiful. Everyone is very nice.

We also got a delicious slushy from the Saloon which we took to the pool as we relaxed. The two pools of varying heat were really nice and despite the crowds had plenty of space. If I lived locally for around $15 I would get the day pass. The full bed, which was not super comfortable, was also tight for my wife and I to share and the room in general was on the smaller side. Overall, it was clean but basic and it seems like you may be paying more so here for the location. The setting is beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the property. If you have the budget, you may want to consider upgrading to one of the Oregon trail style wagons or one of the lodges on site. We knew we'd have a more budget friendly room with shared bathroom arrangement so the rustic traditional lodging did meet our expectations (and seems more affordable than staying in Bozeman by comparison). At the restaurant we tried the classic caesar salad, Beef Tenderloin Tips, and the special of the sea scallops. The salad comes with giant leafs that were a bit difficult to eat but it was tasty. The beef and the scallops were also good, although the latter were unsurprisingly very expensive. Despite the pomp and circumstances of their famous "flaming orange" (which is indeed impressive), we aren't big orange/chocolate fans among other elements of this dessert so instead we got a delicious ice cream cake to go. We took the desert to the saloon next door to see the local band which was fun.

We stayed in the covered wagons. First of all, they do not look like the picture. Only one has a fire pit, and that wasn't either of ours. There is a group fire pit by the bathrooms, but they wouldn't even help us with smores supplies or sticks. You are in the middle of nowhere, so if you forgot something, don't expect them to help. The area around the wagons is very overgrown. They had a horseshoe pit that was hard to see because there was so much grass. Not that it would matter, they didn't have any horseshoes there. The wagons themselves had good mattresses and comfortable bedding. However, they only had air conditioner available and no heat. Kind of pointless in the Montana mountains. I'm glad our weather was mild while we were there. We checked in at 6:30, and asked when the pool side grill would close. They said after 9pm. We got on our swimsuits, and headed to the pool, only to find the grill closed and it wasn't even 7! I went to the front desk to complain, and all they said was the girl who told us was wrong. So I asked about eating in the restaurant but they said they stopped taking reservations at 4 PM even if they have any openings. So, that left us feeding five kids in a saloon. There were only two saloon workers that night. They did their best, but you could tell they were very understaffed. It made the whole experience pitiful. It is not like you have another choice of a place to eat when you're that far from town. Overall, Chico is an overpriced waste. Save your money and go to one of the other cool places in the area. The Hot Springs at Yellowstone Hot Springs is better than the Chico pool anyway.

Surprisingly the cows were good neighbors, not very noisy, and even though they could smell us, but we could not smell them :) The cabin itself was a lovely two story sanctuary, decorated with leather sofas, cow hides, and hardwood floors. The kitchen and bathroom sinks were copper and tasteful. The site also has laundry. However, if you stay in the cabins there is no breakfast in the morning. I did not have reservations anywhere, nor thought I'd need any, when I exited the park at about 9:30 p.m., at the northern entrance to the park (next to Gardiner). However, much to my chagrin, not a single room was available ANYWHERE! So, I frantically called every place on Yelp, and I even got a hotel list from the owner of a local motel. Finally, I spoke with Carol Reed (and I woke her up, I might add), and she had an opening because a guest had canceled. Long story short, I arrived and was thrilled to find carol waiting for me, and an excellent room to sleep in. I awoke the next morning to the warm aroma of coffee upstairs, and I arrived at the table to greet a feast. Great breakfast, and even greater conversation with the owners! I really appreciated all they did for me, and the stay was incredible. Last but not least, we watched Osprey's flying around their backyard, with a huge mountain range in the backdrop. Quite an experience!

Most other hotels/motels looked basically the same so it was nice to see something different here. There were definitely some spots which could benefit from some fresh paint or something but it wasn't a big deal. The check-in process was on the other hand more modern. Not "we have an app" modern but they have keypad locks on all the room doors so check-in was handled through a text message (which included the door code). A phone call was also an option but texting was easier for me because we were on the road and didn't always have reception. Text messages also mean all the info would be available if I needed to check it later. We were only there to sleep so we didn't need any assistance, but if anything came up we would have had to call or text the manager since there was nobody on-site. Hopefully in those cases they can respond and/or show up quickly. We do sometimes have good conversations with the front desk people but a quick simple check-in is also great. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. The one surprise in the room was that the tv was on when we walked in. First cause of alarm, there were no vehicles present. Off to the right is a marijuana dispensary about the size of a small takeout coffee drive-thru. Behind it is what appears to be a hotel, but it is not active, or at least it had the appearance of not being active, i.e. no cars around it. Maybe at one time this was part of the operation. To the left was what the online pictures of the place I booked looked like. Again, there were no cars present, so my sketchometer started to peg. I went to where the sign said "office". The door was locked. Looking inside did appear like a reception area, with tables and chairs, a desk. Some years ago we booked a hotel in Seattle, arriving late at night and there was no one on duty when we arrived. People in an unfamiliar town, late at night and nowhere to stay, very unsettling. There was a sign posted to call a number if no one was there. I called and spoke with the proprietor. She told me she would be there in 15 minutes. She did arrive and asked me my name. She seemed to know of our booking and asked what room I had booked. This was months ago that I booked, a laborious search looking far and wide around Yellowstone, where nightly rates seemed to start at $300 and go up. I recalled the room name was the Jefferson. She said, "oh, that is number 4, follow me around to the back." So there is a narrow turn off the corner of the building on this gravel drive around to the back. As you went around the narrow gravel roadway, looking further downhill toward the river at the back of the property past some trees were campers in tents of various types. The building has a very ranch-like feel, rustic cut lumber and trim. Two stories , the covered deck on the backside is each units entry point with a combination lock key entry. A rather beaten up screen door was in place on our unit. It was broken. You park your car here, just a few feet from your door, no actual space marked. Entering a small vestibule where a mini-fridge, coffee maker and table are present to the left. A doorway to the right off that is the bathroom. Very small, only one person could fit at a time. The door just clearing the toilet. Shower, no tub. From there is the bed, chest of drawers, TV. Another doorway is present. I am shown that by using that you enter an interior hallway that is common to each unit, a washer and dryer are available there. At the end of this hallway are a full kitchen, a couch and big screen TV. What appears to be a small 2-3 person bar is present. Another seating area off that. The area is dark with a low ceiling. You are given a key to the door of your room off the common hall. It is a very simple door/lock. Being from a city, the security of this door gave me alarm. Considering we were in Montana, maybe not a problem. The room was tastefully decorated. The pillows were not great. The DirectTV package was pretty basic, not a lot of selections, many shopping channels available. It appeared like there was a leak from above on the ceiling that needed some work. The toilet cycled every few minutes. Not much insulation shielded the upper units from the lower. Persons moving about were easily heard. As you pulled around the facility to leave, just adjacent to the road was some form of commercial building with a loading dock. It had no name on it, also a rather odd arrangement. Looking at reviews of the past, people really liked Seven Points. I don't want to bash a business based just on my personal experience. Our expectation was this was going to be an affordable option to W. Yellowstone. Some people like rustic, ranch-style and are more connected to the outdoor activities of the area. I get that, everybody has different tastes. Our visit was to see Yellowstone and to not have to pay over $300 a night. Seven Points is a great alternative to West Yellowstone prices. In 25 minutes you are in the Yellowstone North Entrance on US-89. A simple drive. On making several trips in/across the park, the North Entrance through the town of Gardiner was in my opinion better than West Yellowstone entrance. The downside of the Emigrant area is that it is remote. Some other B&B operations are opening near Seven Points. We were not into communal bath arrangements they had. Dining limited. We had meals at the Old Saloon, and Follow Yer Nose BBQ. Old Saloon was ok, we really liked the BBQ. Behind Follow Yer Nose is a bakery, but we did not try that. Beyond that you have to go into Gardiner for any level of choices. If you pack and fix your own meals, Seven Points makes sense. Another way to save. There is a general store across from the Old Saloon, but the choices of food items there is only slightly above what a convenience store stocks. It appeared that Gardiner was the closest full-service grocery.

My wife and I just wrapped up our second stay with them for an adults only 5 night stay. The ranch is truly like nothing else we've experienced. At the beginning of your stay the head wrangler catches up with you and pairs you with 1 of their 130 horses that are wonderfully trained and cared for on site. The food is one of the major highlights for me and you will enjoy plated 3-4 course dinners each night, with several entrees to choose from at each meal. The cabins and amenities are great, but what really makes your stay special is the people, both the staff and guests, that you spend the week with. I can honestly say it is the best customer service experience I have had to-date, and that doesn't do it justice, because you leave there feeling like family. Things to consider: 1. The Guest Ranch appears pricey to some and we definitely agree that it's a considerable amount of money to spend on a 5 night vacation. That said, we left both years satisfied and without any regrets. 2. We have only visited in late September and early October near the end of their season. Both stays had at least 1 day of rainy weather. You can ride horse and do most activities even with rain, or just read and drink coffee next the a roaring fire, but weather and timing of the visit may be something to consider. 3. Alcohol is not included but the bar is very generous and has a great wine list. That said, we've brought special bottles of wine to the ranch to enjoy with dinner, without issues.
