We were unsure of this motel as we were planning our anniversary celebration, but we are so pleased with our experience here that we'll definitely be back again. I called the motel on the day of check in as we were running behind schedule. I was assured we were assigned a room, and would not get the last available room (sometimes that happens and the room ends up not being what was originally booked). I asked about extra blankets available at check in. Lisa, the hotelier, offered to have one put in our room before we arrived so we wouldn't have to worry about waiting for it once we checked in. Once we arrived, we were greeted as we entered the lobby. Currently, it is decorated in a Halloween theme, and very thoughtfully done. We were issued metal keys for our room....nice touch. We entered our room and weee greeted by soft classical music and a comfortable 70 degree room. The carpet is clean, laid on top of thick carpet padding...another nice touch and easy on bare feet. The bathroom is likely original to the building but was very clean. We didn't think much of the mattress until we realized our bodies didn't hurt when we woke up. We forgot our swim suits so weren't able to test the water, spa, sauna etc. They do sell swimwear in the lobby but we opted against it. The continental breakfast is worth taking advantage of, consisting of home made banana bread, which is quite tasty. Coffee, tea, milk, water (I am a water snob and I filled my travel thermos every morning and night straight from their ice machine), yogurt, oatmeal and a few other items were available for us to eat. And the infused water....Lisa makes it fresh daily and it is amazing! Don't let the age of the motel steer you away. While it was build in the late 1970's it is well kept and has a lot of charm. Absolutely delightful Motel. Lisa (and her father before her) have handed up Bozeman beautiful (back-in-time) luxury accommodations. I visit my daughter every year in Bozeman. Last year during my visit, we were shopping at the Co-Op next door, and I said, I'm going to run over and peek at this pretty Motel next door. It surprises you. I made reservations for the next year, and got to spend a few nights here 2 weeks ago. The lobby is just lovely. Lisa served up a somewhat continental-style breakfast. It was just perfect, with everything you need to get your day started. I grabbed my breakfast, sipping my hot tea, reading the newspaper, chatted with some of the guests, and soaked in every minute of my morning. In the afternoon, Lisa lays out other snacks and always has a nice fruit bowl. The downstairs pool, hot tub and spa area are worthy of a Four Seasons. One afternoon, I walked to the downtown area to shop and explore. It was just a few blocks away, an easy walk. My bed was delightfully comfortable, and my room was clean and well-appointed. I felt safe throughout my entire stay here. I woke up, looking at the Majestic Mountains every morning. What a view. When you call, ask for Lisa (the owner's daughter). Her Dad/family has owned this establishment from the very first day it opened its doors. Thank you Lisa and all the staff at the Lewis & Clark. Everything was just wonderful. I will be back. Beds comfortable.room was clean.the motel with what it had to offer reminded me of a motel that used to be in my hometown when open.add the former train station turned restaurant separate though added to what the motel has with its antiques and it would be this place. The owner was decent when signing for my room and explaining the layout.only had to deal with road construction at night to go to motel from freeway and a little on the freeway.that was the only downfall and drove over 3 hours.it was easy to find after driving by it a few years ago when staying at comfort inn closer to freeway.lewis and Clark will hopefully see a repeat in me coming back read more

Pros: The exterior is very pretty and the gift shop has great snacks and beverages. The staff are very courteous and kind. The location relative to downtown is pretty awesome. Mountain views from the 3rd floor are nice. Water pressure and temp was great. Cons: The rooms are fairly old, basic motel rooms that do not match the lobby and exterior aesthetic. The carpet needs work but the main issue is my room smells a bit funky...like cigarette smoke, probably from all the years people smoked inside the rooms years ago. read more

She yelled at me over the phone, hung up on me when I asked for a manger and tried to charge us for an undeserving "misc" moving of furniture in her room. Do not go here. I first stayed here in September with my parents. We just needed an inexpensive option for one night before my parents' early flight out the next morning. I was blown away. The friendliness of the staff/owner was very refreshing. The pool and spa area were absolutely incredible. If I lived in Bozeman, I'd find a way to pay for a monthly membership. Luxury does not begin to describe it. And that shower! I've told an obscene number of people about that shower. Then when I finally did stop enjoying the amenities and go to bed, I was blown away again. That bed is the single most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I don't know how they did it. The next morning, the owner had arranged to have the breakfast set out a little earlier than usual so that we could get something to eat before taking my parents to the airport. The variety was exceptional. I had planned to drive home after dropping my parents off - but since check out was not until noon, I returned for another swim, soak, and a nap in that marvelous bed. I have daydreamed about this motel many times since. Finally I got another chance to go back with a friend. We took a trip up from Wyoming to ski at Bridger Bowl and I have to admit I was just as excited for the hotel stay as I was for the skiing. Lewis and Clark did not disappoint. I enjoyed the hotel just as much as the first time, and was just as reluctant to leave. We ended up getting trapped at the hotel under 17 inches of snow, but thanks to some shovels and encouragement from the owner we were able to dig out and make it to the mountain. She even offered us a discounted rate if the weather turned worse and we got stuck in Bozeman overnight. Unfortunately, the roads cleared up and we didn't get to stay a second night. It's not an authentic stop on the Lewis and Clark trail, but that is lucky for all of us. If Lewis and Clark had stopped at this hotel, they never would have left. read more

Hostess was sooo awesome. I got in late and needed to return my car rental really quickly. She took my bags and called a cab. I got back and my bags were in my room along with a beautiful tray of goodies. She also turned my AC on in my room so it would be extra nice! Two of us were passing through Bozeman on the way to North Dakota and stopped by this gem! Front desk receptionist was very kind, courteous, and welcoming. She explained use of amenities including grab and go breakfast including fruit, power bars, yogurt, & apple sauce (covid19), ice, coffee 24/7, etc. What blew my mind was the cleanliness of the the steam/sauna/hot tub/ pool. They have a private spa area downstairs below the motel. Wow. It was impeccable and cleaned to a sparkle. We were a bit skeptical about using the facility during this health crisis but after taking one look I completely changed my mind. They clean the facility after EVERY use, towels and bathroom amenities were stocked, calming spa music was playing, and they even had a nice sparkling & still water machine! The room cleanliness was also immaculate. the shower was giant and luxurious. The owner was extremely friendly and asked how our stay was going every time I came to the front desk. It was my 50th birthday this year. In anticipation of this milestone, I had one simple wish--to swim in a pool. Growing up in Florida, every one of my birthdays was spent swimming. Now that I live in Montana, finding a pool for my birthday required additional planning, and that's exactly what I did. After an extensive search, I reached out to the Lewis & Clark Motel and explained my birthday plans. They told me I had to book a room, which was surprisingly expensive for a dressed-up Motel 6, to access the pool. Fine. The pool looked cool, and I'm worth it! You only turn 50 once, right? I booked the room, asking for an early check-in, and a late check-out. When we arrived, I once again emphasized that my sole purpose was to enjoy a swim in the pool with my kids, and that we wouldn't even be sleeping in the room. The following morning, on my birthday, we returned to the motel, eagerly anticipating a day of floating in the pool. I turned in the room keys to an unoccupied front desk, and looked forward to the poolside retreat. We stepped out briefly for an errand, and when we came back, still well within our approved late check-out time, the person at the front desk unexpectedly denied us access to the pool. I explained the situation, telling them that I returned the keys because we didn't use the room, assuming we could still use the pool. I was told that since we were no longer registered guests, access to the pool was off-limits. I asked for an exception considering the circumstances, only to be met with another refusal. I can't comment on the quality of the beds or the water pressure in the shower, but I can say with certainty that Lisa, the owner and manager of this place, lacked any form of kindness or understanding, and in this instance, didn't operate her business with hospitality. She may have gotten her money for that night, but she lost my future business and any chance of a positive recommendation. To make sure I wasn't crazy, I called several other hotels in the area with pools to ask about their policies. They all said they could easily accommodate this type of request. If only I had chosen differently... save yourself, and do NOT stay at the Lewis & Clark Motel. read more

Enjoyed a 5 night stay here recently. The staff was super nice. A light breakfast (the banana bread rocks!) and hors d'oeuvres in the evening are included. The indoor pool, spa, steam room are fantastic!! There's a nice gym too. You are one block from a great bagel shop, and the food coop (great salad bar & membership not required) is next door. The location is great, weather permitting you could walk downtown. The rooms are a good size, you get DirecTV with a nice range of channels, small fridge, and a microwave. The bed was super comfy with lots of nice pillows. The price is right too! I will be staying here again next time I'm in town! Some things to note... I will be requesting a top floor room next time - better view and less noise. We were on the bottom floor which was super convenient, our car was 6' from our door, but the noise from the room above us was a bit much. Also, our room was equipped with a super low flow shower head - very annoying! Other hotels we've stayed at in Bozeman have been similarly equipped. There are lots of hotel/motel options in Bozeman, I've stayed in several - bang for buck this has been the best one yet. read more

We just had the most incredible stay at the Lewis and Clark Motel! This is nowhere near your classic motel. Lisa goes above and beyond to create a memorable experience. Her father build the motel in the 70's and he would be beyond proud to see what a great stay she provides her guests. From the homemade chocolate chip cookies and other sweet treats she places around the lobby, to the eucalyptus spa/pool this is a stay you won't forget. My group was stuck in Bozeman due to a delayed flight and needed accommodations for a night. We found Lewis and Clark on yelp and we're intrigued by the pool and eucalyptus sauna. We were not disappointed! The staff was welcoming and accommodating to our group, even offering us extra time in the sauna past the posted hours. The rooms were large and the beds were soft. The bathroom could use some updating but that did not stop us from fully enjoying our stay. If you like boutique hotels and inns and a more personal experience, this place is for you. read more

The Good: Incredibly polite and very helpful staff onsite. The lobby had a unique charm in its decoration, and had a distinct smell that reminded me exactly of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. I'm not sure if that's a chlorine smell, but it's oddly enjoyable to me at least. The pool and spa area was also top notch. The Not So Good The price of the room was insane for a late September stay. $300 for a motel room felt like highway robbery, especially when the room has no windows. Well, I suppose you can count the entry door as a window, since the entry wall is all glass for no reason that I could decipher. The desk in the room was also positioned directly in front of the floor heating strip, which I'm fairly certain is a fire hazard. All in all, great staff, but severely overpriced. read more

This is a family owned boutique hotel experience with the convenience of motel parking right in front of your room. Clean and pleasant rooms, a beautifully thought out spa experience in their pool (with a very cool family history), and the most incredibly caring and attentive staff and owner. We stayed here on our way through town but would have stayed longer had we been able to. We travel with 3 small children regularly and they were highly aware of how to make a family's stay exceptional! Our girls loved the old-fashioned gum ball machine by the front desk. When you finally decide to leave the motel property, the Co-Op grocery store next door is a convenient place for a healthy meal.
