I stumbled upon a post they did which was in solidarity with a group of people and seeing that our values were aligned I knew this was a local small business that I needed to be supporting from here on out. I came midweek to shop and look around, and I had a great experience. It's a smaller bookstore, but they did have a lot to choose from! I was especially happy to see that they keep up with new and trending authors/books that come out. But of course, they also had a broad selection of every type of book you could think of. Being a smaller independent bookstore they don't have mass quantity though so if you find a book you like you should grab it because they only have a copy or two of each. I found that the pricing was comparable to anywhere else but again when you shop here you're supporting local small businesses so even if it was a little pricier, it would be worth it to me. They had a cute child's/kids section in the back so it would definitely be a great place to bring your little one to look around or read a story. The vibes are welcoming, but I also appreciate when staff leave you to look around without standing over your shoulder. The gal working behind the register was super nice and checked me out with quickness, that I was in and out without issue. Nice people work here, they have a decent selection and overall it was a cute little shop that I will be back to support again soon.

They also have a small section with DVDs and CDs, which was such a fun dose of late-'90s and early-2000s nostalgia. I loved it. One of my favorite features was their "Surprise Reads" section. The books are wrapped so you can't see the cover, and each one has a short description of the story or theme instead. It encourages you to choose a book based on the synopsis rather than the cover, which I think is such a fun idea. I've discovered some fantastic books through "Surprise Reads," so I was excited to see they had a section dedicated to them. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They helped me look for a series (The Telesa or Covenant series) that I am trying to get. Unfortunately they didn't have the series but hopefully in the future. The location is great as it is at a mall close to coffee shops to grab you a book and head on for coffee or tea to read and enjoy.

I love their tote bag discount and stamp cards, and if you love books, you'll end up racking up a lot of stamp cards before being able to use them all They also host a lot of fun events like author signings, book bedazzling, and trivia nights. The store is located in the heart of The Village in Topanga and there's ample parking. If you want to read your haul immediately, you'll find a lot of seats just outside the store. The store is also pet-friendly except on days they have pet guests, and they usually post a sign outside.

This unique bookstore is set in a former family home that's been thoughtfully converted into a literary haven. Each room has its own character: the kitchen is dedicated to cookbooks, while the formal dining room displays collectible titles that can only be viewed from outside. The living room features an inviting mix of bookshelves filled with a wide variety of reads. Outside, you'll find rows and rows of books lining shelves beneath awnings, creating an open-air browsing experience that's both unusual and delightful. I was curious how they manage the setup during rainy weather, and was told that because of the valley's conditions, rain tends to fall straight down and doesn't impact the books under the awnings. There are so many hidden gems here and you could easily spend hours exploring. They offer a combination of new and used books ranging from a dollar on up. Parking is convenient, with several public lots nearby as well as street parking available

Literally impossible to give anything less than 10 stars for this bookstore of an experience. FINE…read more 5 stars!!! Wow - I've read all about this special bookstore and it truly is a magical place that transports you into an oasis of specially curated books, titles, and other gems along your literary way. I love the style of this entire space and don't forget to check out the upstairs too. The folks working there were kind and attentive and no complaints regarding service - not one bit. The layout of the books and titles themselves on the shelves showed such positive, hospitable service. Given the amount of books they had, Godmothers did an exceptional job ensuring the space was not cluttered and that there were various seating areas set up to check out any of the books and spend more time with them before making a purchase. Going to Godmothers is more than just a visit. It is a reflective experience with titles for the whole family and the value of visiting this space is truly such a gift! Again, curated titles, a feeling of openness and care for books in a diversity of ways? Sold! Come visit! It's also right off the freeway - no reason not to stop by, and also grab some coffee next door at the airstream! You'll be glad you did.
