What a fun night, Gio's for dinner, the RPO and to finish off a perfect night drinks at Vanni's. What a great place, it was hoping and the vibe was on. We had a ball and can't wait to come back!

I really liked the ambience and commitment to the book theme. I didn't have any food, just drinks but the drinks were good and the band that played was pretty good as well. Also really liked the speakeasy vibe when you enter.

While planning our dinner party months in advance, the communication from Janine was excellent. She helped us develop a 4-course menu that was sure to have something for everyone, including vegan and allergy friendly options. Amy was our server for the evening, and she ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. The baby cauliflower dish was also a beautiful presentation, and quite large and enjoyable. The salads, particularly the Charred Hurricane salad, were nice light courses before the entree was served. As for the entrees, the filet mignon was a little on the dry side, but we really enjoyed the light and crispy spinach fritters that accompanied the beef. The salmon was a generous portion of medium rare fish, and there was lot going on with that dish - spicy cauliflower and za'atar potatoes that had some mixed reviews. Folks who ordered the duck breast seemed to enjoy the complex preparation, which had asparagus, green beans, and two pureed sauces - cauliflower ginger and cherry-rhubarb. The doughnut bread pudding with apple pieces and vanilla ice cream was a delicious, decadent way to end the meal. We left rather stuffed, and delighted with the overall experience that allowed our family to celebrate together.

The Daily Refresher - Hummus with some sort of "chef's choice" flavor (didn't work for me) and no vegetable sticks as per the menu until we asked for them

The bar has what I look for - interesting crafted cocktails (including specials), a good liquor selection, and fun people behind the bar with whom to engage. I can understand why my friends liked the place. We did have some food here, but I'm more enamored with the drinks. We ordered hummus, which was supposed to come with bread (they say naan, I think it was pita, but that's fine) and veggies. It did come out with the bread. When we asked about the veggies, we were given 2 different answers by 2 different people. One implied folks didn't always want them, another said the chef forgot and apologized. The hummus had an unexpected flavor, and when I checked the fine print on the menu it says, "chefs choice flavor." We didn't order anything else here, but we saw several orders of wings go by, and they looked really good too. On a Saturday afternoon, get here early, because if can fill up quickly.

I understand running out of supplies every now and then. But when your bar's identity is based on whiskey, and you have a list of all these wonderful whiskeys on your menu, it is very frustrating that my first 3-5 selections are not available. How hard is it to keep your menu updated?

I didn't really care for the Brussels sprouts, macaroni and cheese, or the deviled eggs. The bread pudding was pretty good, and our server was amazing. My sister wasn't a fan of her steak, although I thought it was well-seasoned it just wasn't my favorite cut. The lobster bisque also had amazing reviews. Overall, I'd definitely love to give this place another try.

Thought the maître d' would be more formal. Turns out it's very casual. No table cloths, Formica table tops, no bar naps served with a cocktail, no real attention to detail of any kind. Table had a light. My wife turned it on after we were seated. The Springhouse was one my accounts back in the Don O'Neal days and I was looking forward to seeing the bar. It hasn't changed, same feel and ambience of the 60's and 70's era. Perfect. If you want a great experience eat at the bar or that immediate bar area. We sat in one of two back dining rooms. Noisy, faced the kitchen entrance and way too much traffic for an intimate dining experience. Cocktails okay. No consistency with a perfect bourbon manhattan. First one a lemon wedge? Second one none. Appetizers were great but plates are large, black and they made for a dull looking presentation.. smaller white plates, some parsley? Something to make for a better presentation. They have a lot of very interesting small plates and entrees. Deviled eggs, and a prime steak tartar were fine but not a dining experience. Had the pasta and the crispy caesar, both okay. Didn't bother with desert or coffee. They add 20% to your tab so not even thinking the server could be deserving of more? Nothing Rare here.
