Saguaro Lake Marina allows far too many boats on the water at the same time. At least half the boats are clearly driven by drunken idiots who have no idea how to properly captain a boat. There are way too many speedboats on the water all at the same time blasting their music, blowing exhaust fumes all over the lake, and littering the water with their trash. They all drive too fast and get way too close to each other and far too close to those of us who are trying to paddleboard and/or kayak. Saguaro Lake used to be my favorite place to visit in The Valley. But now there are absolutely no park rangers on the water, no one telling the boats to slow down, or reminding them to keep their distance. Trying to paddleboard and/or kayak on Saguaro Lake has become completely unsafe and unenjoyable. It's ruined the entire experience. read more

We tried out the newly renovated Saguaro Lake Grill and Bar today, formerly Shiprock restaurant. The food was delicious! My friend had the Hot Honey Pepperoni sandwich with waffle fries, and o had the Loaded Ceasar salad. Our Mojito drinks were very refreshing. Our server, Scott was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The atmosphere is a Beachy feeling and was nice and clean! We enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back! read more

We love stopping in for lunch to the Saguaro Lake Marina Grill on our way back into the valley from Payson. It's a nice point to take a driving break & enjoy the gorgeous views. They make the best reubens! Every time we come, I say I'll try something else, but I always get the reuben. Its definitely their best! read more

We love that the restaurant is open with new ownership, love the menu and cannot beat the shaded beautiful view. Perfect little bites. Be advised they are working on their liquor license and do not sell alcohol at this time, check back because she said by the end of April. In the meantime, the gift shop boat actually sells alcohol and you can sit on the top and drink it! Give this place a chance. We got the shrimp tacos and hot dog. Inside dining area can use some upgrade in decore but outside dining is nice. Great views of the lake and surrounding mountains. But as far as the food , do not come here for that! We ordered the onion rings and fish and chips and the chips were cross cut fries and they were rubbery ! The onions in the onion rings had the texture of chewing on a wet noddle. But I must say the fish was good and the batter was light and crispy. But that was the only good thing about our meal. Our waitress was however was very nice. read more

Hubby and I went for a late lunch with a nice view of the lake on Monday. The drinks were good and the view was good. I was just a little disappointed in my food order. I ordered fish and chips and when it arrived at the table there was only one piece of fish. I have ordered fish and chips at many restaurants and usually they give you two or three pieces of fish. I was surprised that wad only one piece of fish in the basket. If you really like fish and chips do not pay $19.00 for one piece of fish, you will be better of ordering a burger read more

Our hiking group stopped there today- looking for a cold beer & food. We were told they are waiting for their liquor license. Our hiking group leader checked the restaurant website and no mention of this gap. She tried to call the restaurant multiple times and no answer. We waited 15-20 minutes with menus & the waitress did not come back to take our food order. The menu had items unexpected for the local. Our group tried the chicken cesar and classic burger. Both were amazing. Portions huge, lettuce fresh and crisp, burger hot, cooked as ordered, the pretzel bun was also soft and fresh. Waffle fries o plenty and perfect. Ambiance as expected for an eatery at an outdoor recreation lake. Service was great, very attentive. Prices reasonable. Fed three with tip and drinks( 1 beer) 50 bucks. We rented a 24' pontoon boat today at Saguaro Lake. What an amazing experience. From when we arrived till when we left, the employees were top notch. Mo at the store had us all set up in a few minutes answered all of our questions and made us fell welcome. Mike did a great job with the safety information on the boat and helped with the making sure our experience was the best it could be. The boat was a perfect size, nice and clean. It was a winding road to marina. The bright Arizona Sun was tilted towards western horizon , still has the power of scorching the land below. The saguaros were extending their arm to greet and welcome us while traversing the the vast mountains and valleys. There were multiple colorful blooming desert flowers scattered on both sides of the highways creating a beautiful landscape. At last we reached the marina and it opened a jaw dropping view while entering. The rugged mountains resting on the deep blue sky while casting their reflections on the lake. The ripples and waves of water created a symphony with the winds that started blowing through the Mesquite trees. The setting sun started kissing the mountain top with love and departed slowly. The horizon was tinged with different shades of red and the darkness fell on the lake gently and softly. Birds started flying back to their nests and we felt the same. We left the lake with sadness while the stars decorated the sky with joy. read more

Beautiful view, limited menu, good food, what more can you ask for? Will be coming back again. We just had coffee and fish & chips. The fish and chips priced as $16.85 and for additional $2.95 fee they make it sharable. When they meant sharable I thought they would just give extra fries or something. However, to my surprise they got us two separate plates full of two well made cud fish on each plate, and sides of fries, coleslaw, and dip. Wow, that was like 2 full order of fish and chips. Loved it. The fish and chips were crispy on the outside and really mellow in the inside. Coffee had free refills and tasted good. Food- tasty Customer service- amazing Price- $25 ( 2 coffee and sharable fish and chips) Hygiene- clean View- breathtaking. This is such a beautiful area. It's worth the trip to drive up to the lake because of the beautiful scenery. The restaurant sits over the water with more beautiful views. We parked in the lot without the Tonto Pass and ate in the restaurant. The breakfast was good, prices okay considering the location and service okay. We would definitely return. There's lots to do in the area. Several places on the way up rent kayaks, boats and horses. There's also a "riverboat" boat willing to take you on a scheduled ride around the lake. Beautiful scenery but the damper in coming to this lake is that you apparently need a vehicle pass to park there and don't know this until you approach the entrance. We were happy to pay the fee EXCEPT you have to drive like 17-20 mins back to the Chevron gas station to purchase the pass and come back. What type of sense does that even make? Also, no where on the website is it mentioned that vehicle passes are required and need to be purchased at another location. I find it absolutely absurd that people reach their destination ONLY to be told sorry, you need to drive back a couple of miles to pay for a pass. Why you can't purchase right then and there baffles me? We ended up having lunch at the Lakeshore restaurant and keeping our vehicle there and walking into the lake/marina. Unlike what I suspect others to have, we didn't have like lawn chairs or coolers and stuff so it wasn't that big of a deal but it was very upsetting to find out you can't even pay to park at the location once you arrive! Shame on the lake for not being upfront and fully disclosing all the details on the website. I also find it strange that no one disclosed the parking pass (I actually asked the waitress who told me $8) It's like some sort of secret parking society LOL! Outside of that, beautiful day spent at the lake. I have no desire to come back to this lake again tho. read more

Had a fun day at saguaro lake marina e of phoenix . Rented a nice pontoon boat , newer , padded comfortable bench seating , partially shaded , small table & 50 cc outboard . 9-2 Sunday 350$ plus filled back up w 12$ gas . With 6 people worked out to be about 10$ hour per person . Easy in easy out, busy scenic lake close to phoenix. The clean bathrooms at marina up by fun looking restaurant w great view. There's a large dinner cruise boat too. Busy Sunday a lot of speedboats pulling tubes & wakeboards , scenic Mountain setting fed by the salt river. read more

This marina is rather run down now, and it was not a great build to begin with. The dock planks are all loose and splintery (don't walk barefoot!). The dock fingers are flimsy and wobbly, to the point of being dangerous at the ends. There are no cleats (!!) anywhere, just these weird metal loops you have to pull ropes through. They don't sell ice at the marina store. How weird, huh? You have to walk up the hill to the restaurant to get a little 7 pound bag of partially defrosted and refrozen ice. The service was friendly, but with a lot of rules. They'd smile while telling you that you can't do this or that. I have to say the guys at the haul-out were VERY friendly and helpful, and did a great job hauling out my big cruiser for me. The restaurant is your basic pub style fare, nothing to complain about and nothing to really talk about. Beautiful lake, but I wouldn't choose this marina again. read more

I arrived to the marina this last Sunday to pick up the Pontoon boat we rented. From the beginning we were treated with full respect by everyone there. Picked up the boat and we headed out to the water. We also had 2 jetskis with us. Not even 10 minutes into our day on the lake, we had a mishap on one of the jetskis. Went back to the marina to let them know we had a mishap and they helped us out without any hesitation. I don't remember any ones names except for Heath which was the gentleman that helped my son out with some first aid that he needed which I am also grateful for him letting me know that my son needs to go to see a doctor. We unfortunately had to return the boat early due to having my son needing to go to the emergency room and the folks at the marina were just amazing with how they treated us. The manager of the marina and his wife who also works there were just amazing. Everyone I came in contact with at the marina including the young lady that was in the building above and the 4 others that were in the office were just super nice and easy to deal with. I will always rent here because the people here will treat you with full respect. Thanks everyone for all you help. read more

This lake is a hidden lil gem... well, I'm sure it's well-known to people who have lived in the Phoenix area for a long time but we stumbled across it yesterday while driving around, taking pictures of cacti. (yeah - i know) It's so cute and quaint. Not a big lake or major water sports destination but, it has a lil restaurant and a marina... and yesterday it was a nice destination and provided some great photos. Saguaro Lake is a bit small, so you can't really let 'er rip here. But with soaring rocky cliffs and the occasional eagle overhead, it is beautiful. Plus it has two other nice features. First off, it is surrounded like loads of 4-wheeling trails. Whether you're looking to tear up the sandy washes or climb rocky hills, it's there. Also, there is a boat-in only campground - Bagley Flat. It contains maybe 10 sites, and several of them are on the water. The scenery can't be beat. But be aware, we encountered LOTS of skunks there and many non-stinging bees. We didn't get stinky or stung, but we did have to mind our manners while we were there. I would not hesitate to return though. Maybe I would pick a different campsite. read more

First time here at SAGUARO LAKE. So we checked their website of what to expect. + Arrive early. Parking is scarce. Line forms quickly to gain access + Fee paid to enter. At time of visit, card only. + Facilities throughout it says. But we only counted 2 outhouses. + Older and could use some updates + Long line to launch and dock your water crafts + Found small beaches to lounge + Attendants/Rangers were cordial... some were helpful. + Lake water ... some plastic debris/trash, oil with water from speed boats, jet skis, and the like. + No Wake Zones ... some boaters ignored the posted signs. + Convenient location for us. + Congested by 9:30AM If we return, we will arrive and launch EARLIER to enjoy the lake. read more

Beautiful area! Here are a few of my observations: - the lake is clean and is surrounded by beautiful Arizona mountains - the parking lot is small. Parking is free if you are just stopping by to eat at the restaurant and / or you are planning on taking the steam boat tour. Paid parking for the rest (campers, boaters, picnickers, etc) - there are multiple water activities available here (just plan ahead) - beach side is small - the restaurant on site has gorgeous views of the mountains and lake but the food and the place can definitely use some upgrades - small souvenir shop floating on the water for those who like to buy a little something when they visit - there are also hiking trails and about 20 min away, there are horseback riding trails as well (paid tours available) Saguaro lake is a nice outdoor area and it is only about 40 min away from Tempe! read more

This is a gorgeous spot. There is no charge to get to the marina like Lake Pleasant, and the views are fantastic. The slips seem roomy, and the boat launch area is large and graded nicely. I love it here! Bonus: There's a restaurant with great food, lovely views, and affordable prices! read more

We have rented here many times. Yes, they can get crazy busy some times so be patient. Someone from a few years ago mentioned the planks were splintering. They have all been replaced with Trex (man made) planking. You do not need a Tonto Pass if you are renting a boat. Everyone else entering the lake area needs one and you have to buy in town in advance. We just got back from a nice half day pontoon with the family. Not too crowded during the week and the water was perfect. Boat ran fine, no problems. Relaxing day. read more

For over 14 years my husband and I have gone to Lake Powell with a fun bunch for a week or more at a time . We have lots of traditions , competitions and silliness. one of our favorite traditions over the years has been the Annual Fish Fry . This serves as a time to start the banter, planning and summer for our little band of water skiers. This year was no exception. Once again the Saguaro Fish Fry served it's purpose .The wives began conspiring with lists of food , plans to relax and hanging out. The husbands talked cars, boats, engines and years gone by . Oh and everybody ate fish ..lots of fish , Saguaro Lake Marina is picturesque , relaxing and makes you feel ready to go wake-boarding .The food is solid and simple. The waitresses are good sports and know how to be nice to the mature crowd as well as families and bikers. It's a great place for out of towners or killing time with the relatives. read more

We've rented pontoon boats a few times. The staff is very friendly and helpful explaining everything to us about the boat itself. Prices are also fair for the boat rental. There is a lot of paperwork to sign so it does take some extra time to get the rental at the counter, and the line can move a little slow. Be aware that if you reserve a boat that the rental time starts at 9am, so if you're running later than 9am you're eating into your rental time. They didn't tell us that when we reserved so give yourself plenty of time to get to the dock before 9am! read more
