I can't say enough wonderful things about this veterinary office. If I could give them 1000000 stars I would!!!!!!!!! First, the front office staff is absolutely phenomenal. Every time I call, they're kind, welcoming, professional, and incredibly helpful. They always get me scheduled quickly, answer all of my questions, and make me feel like they genuinely care. I've been bringing my pets here for years. A couple of years ago, I lost my soul dog, and I will forever be grateful for the love and compassion this entire team showed him throughout his life. From the technicians to the veterinarians, everyone treated him like he was their own. and a special shout out to Skyler who was my vet tech at the time, she was INCREDIBLE and has a piece of my heart forever for the way she loved my boy in his final moments. But They were all by our side through his diabetes treatments, and their kindness during that difficult time is something I'll never forget. More recently, I met Dr. John Soltero when I brought in my one-year-old deaf puppy Romeo for his annual exam.Romeo has had neurological issues, and we've been working with a neurologist in Phoenix. As many pet owners know, specialty care can be incredibly expensive. We reached a point where the only next step was an MRI that would cost around $6,000, which just isn't possible for me right now. Dr. Soltero took the time to listen to our entire story. Instead of only focusing on traditional treatment options, he suggested adding a natural acupuncture-based herbal supplement alongside Western medicine. I'll admit, I was skeptical at first--but I figured it was worth trying. After Romeo had been taking the supplement for a couple of months, I realized he hadn't had any seizures. I wasn't sure if it was just a coincidence until I was house-sitting and accidentally forgot to bring his pills. Within a couple of days, his seizures returned like clockwork. As soon as I got home and gave him his supplement again, the seizures stopped shortly afterward, and he was back to acting like himself. The same thing happened again another morning when I had missed his dose. Giving him the supplement consistently has made an incredible difference for shorting and cutting down his episodes. something I didn't think was possible (or so I had been told by the neurologist) I know every dog is different, and I can't say it will work for everyone, but I can honestly say it has been life-changing for my boy. I'm so thankful that Dr. Soltero was willing to think outside the box and recommend something I never would have considered on my own. This is the worst vet clinic. They performed a surgery on our dog and gave us no post op advice after they took the sutures out. They mentioned she was "all good" and then her wound fully reopened later that day. We had to take to emergency vet since it was after hours. They did not care about their mistake and offered no reimbursement. Then, the doctor was laughing when she told us our dog had valley fever. Not good! read more

I contacted you before noon - it was urgent - unfortunately I wasn't able to give you more notice. I told you I felt it was going to be necessary to put her down. The best thing for her would to have been to able to have that happen with a clinic I use to have confidence in and cared more than the average. I had an appointment for 7am the next morning I didn't want her to have to suffer a moment longer than she had too. All things I explained to the receptionist- so your shallow show of empathy falls short! Im sure this clinic is all that the others experiences say. The experience i just had was the complete opposite. Never got to meet the vet. The front office was great about scheduling me a week from my first call for an appointment. I guess they're so busy. Then i get a follow up call to ensure i would be on time for my appointment set a week ago. When we arrived early, to make sure paperwork was completed in time for our actual appointed time. There were literally no other patients in the waiting area. One new patient walked in. Taken immediately in. Same exact appointment time as us. Then another. Then another. By this time i had had enough. I spoke up only to be ignored as if a small communication as to why we were being bypassed was of no interest to the staff. While i am assuming from others comments the clinic is well managed. That was not our experience. The lack of respect these days for peoples times is ridiculous. This clinic is no different. But, i am sure i am at fault for making an appointment and being early. Won't be back. I am sure they don't need our business read more

This is *the* bestest place for all of your fur babies' healthcare needs!! My 17-year old, Sebastian, has been under Dr Mike's care for about 5 years now and we haven't looked back. Prior to finding this clinic through a friend's referral, I struggled with local (Fountain Hills) vet clinics becoming more and more 'sales oriented'; non-essential treatments and constantly being pressured from up selling made me look elsewhere. The sales push made me really question if the vet staff/doctors truly had best interest in Sebastian's health needs. I'm soooo happy to take my beloved cat here and trust in the care and advise given. This clinic and Dr. John are incredible. My Golden Retriever started her care here a decade ago and 7 years ago, we switched due to moving to North Scottsdale. Our newer vet was ok for routine things but has been horrific to work with as our girl is nearing the end of her life. Was trusting these guys to help get my 7 month kitten back to health. Had ear mites from the house he was rescued from. Took my kitten in 3 times in 3 weeks to them. They said the ear mites turned into a yeast infection. 5 minute office visits for $50. Never offered blood work or anything. This "yeast infection" got to the point my kitten wouldn't play and wouldn't eat. 104 degree fever. They finally offer a blood test, hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of 5 minute doctors visits later. results were in last Friday. I had to physically show up to the facility to get the results. They were awaiting the FIP results but everything else was negative. At this point all she recommended was put my kitten down. It was extremely urgent. My kitten died on Sunday. Today is Wednesday I still have not been contacted for FIP results. I call them. Turns out the results were in, nobody bothered to read them. I am still waiting. They charge a ton of money and barely spend any time with your animal. They cycle you in and out very quickly. They are not thorough. I will not blame them for my kittens death but had they spent more time and effort, we were willing to pay whatever we needed when we needed to get our little buddy to full health. It was so tragic and felt avoidable. I went to another vet today for my other cat and was provided a lot more comfort and valuable information. read more

This is by far the best veterinary clinic in town! The care the Dr's give my dogs is unbelievable. Dr John did some "plastic surgery" on my dog after he was attacked by another dog. I told him he could do plastic surgery on me any time!you could not even see a scar! Dr Mike is awesome too and there is another Dr there who I have not been to, but friends of mine have and they rave about her too! They are completely honest with pricing as well. Took my dog here recently for his annual check up. Receptionists were not overly welcoming but not a turn off to coming back. The vet tech I had was so sweet. She was so easy to talk to and so kind. The vet himself, made sure all my questions were answered and encouraged what was going well and what could be improved. The clinic was clean and not chaotic. I have taken my pets to this clinic for many years. Today however I had a difficult time finding a place to park. The lot has been changed and they are doing drive up medicine pick up. I booked my appointment but nothing on their very long message gave an indication of needing to call the office when you arrived at the office. As a result of recent knee surgery I struggled getting the pet Maggie out of the car. I was juggling my cane, her records and my billfold. I got to the door and saw the sign stopping me from entering without a call. At that point an employee came out the door and told me to " Stand aside!" She was taking meds to a car parked in front of the door. I struggled to move aside but got a disapproving look. I was not fast enough. Since I was still in hold from my alert " I'm here!" call I got back into my car and drove off still on hold. When the call was finally answered I canceled my appointment. This brings me to the end of my unhappy experience. A note to the clinic manager: Perhaps an alert on your phone message would help and not something on your website which I have never looked at nor care to now. Perhaps vaccinate the pets in the car like the humans who are getting the COVID-19 shots. I made an appointment elsewhere! read more

I had gone to Saguaro Vet for many years and the staff was always warm and friendly, and Dr. Ketchmark was awesome. Well it has changed! The receptionist was rude on the phone, as well as when I went in. She demanded a rabies vax test certification before I could even see or talk to the doctor, which she should have specified on the phone. We recently got back and I haven't found our dog's paperwork yet and the vet we had gone to out of state has closed. The receptionist was mean on the phone and in person! When the original and now retired Dr. Rick Soltero ran this hospital it was fantastic. Dr. Ketchmark was also an unbelievable vet and a super guy. He's left. So now, Soltero's sons have it and it's ALL about the money! My 14 year old German Shepherd, a long time patient who can now hardly walk and can't get into the car anymore, needed a renewal of his heart worm medicine. They refused unless he came in for a heart worm test! They couldn't care less about my problem or his. I now have a new vet and he had no problem giving me the pills without a new test. Saguaro is not the same place it used to be. I guess they're trying to pay for the new addition they just added to their building. Well, I sure won't help them!!! Find somebody else. I have yet to meet a Vet on this planet that cares about animals as much Soltero Sr. (who is retired) and Dr. Ketchmark. Dr. K has become the only Vet I trust and will take any of my animals to even when I lived outside of the Valley and had to travel 7.5 hours. He is irreplaceable. I'm sure there are other good ones but I have yet to see one who genuinely cares about an animals health first, has no fear, is honest, and can make the most fearful animal comfortable. If you care to learn what you can do for your pet Dr. K will also send you home with some new knowledge, he is very patient and thorough. He is definitely a man who has followed his calling. I saw Dr. Mike one day in an emergency and he seemed promising. If his heart and work ethic is anything like his Dad and Dr. K this world will be blessed with another rare and amazing vet. read more

The receptionists in this office are ill-mannered, discourteous, lack basic communication skills and are unequipped to handle any kind of task they are presented with. Why they have been placed as the "face" of the company is beyond me. I was nothing but polite to them!! and they treated me like an irritant over the phone and gave my husband attitude when he arrived. His text to me was "It's like I'm dealing with a bunch of cranky teenagers." This isn't a single event either. This attitude and rudeness has been a constant. I was told when I complained to the manager that there is "a lot of staff turnover" i hope the doctors check these reviews so they're made aware of how their business is being handled in the front. We have been going to them for 5 years. the front office changed dramatically when the business expanded. It's a shame. Management needs to get it together. read more

LOVE Dr. Ketchmark. He is so kind and takes the time to answer all my dog poop questions... and my pup Emi doesn't even FLINCH when he gives her shots! He's pretty much the reason why we decided to bring our pup here for her puppy shots versus going to the humane society. on the other hand.... the front desk staff varies from sweet and kind to completely apathetic and unsmiley (i have no other words...). i haven't cared much for waiting for 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time.... but honestly wouldn't have minded much if the front desk had mentioned SOMETHING while we were waiting ("sorry, the doctor is running behind schedule... blah blah blah"). i also don't really appreciate being ignored while I stand at the front desk waiting to check in.... or when the front desk calls you back to the room WITHOUT saying your name... uhm, i'm sorry were you talking to me or the 2 other people in the waiting room? don't just stare at me and say "are you ready?". geez. all in all, go because of the great docs. the front desk staff could use some training on how to be more helpful and welcoming. read more

I take my dogs to Saguaro for their checkups and shots. The front desk staff, vet technicians and veterinarians are all so nice and my dogs love them! Definitely doesn't hurt that they always give them treats. They're a busy clinic so I would recommend making an appointment instead of walking in if it's something for a non-emergency matter. read more

Is there a 10 star rating? I have been taking my pups to Saguaro Veterinary Clinic for 20+ years now. I was referred to them by a friend after another vet botched surgery on my dog. That's when I met Dr. Rick Soltero who not only repaired the surgical issue with my dog but from the start took a genuine interest in my dog and helped with some other digestive issues we were dealing with. The diet he created for my dog at that time is what I still use to this day. He was a man who truly loved animals and his calling (yes, for him it was a calling not "just a job"). I was so happy when I met his sons Mike and John and learned that they took after their father. There are no words to describe the trust and respect they have earned in my eyes through the years of bringing my and my family's dogs to them. They are always there to listen, take every concern seriously, and take their time to examine the dog, explain the plan of care and answer all questions. They never start with unnecessary tests and procedures or try to "up-sell" their services. To the contrary, they both start by ruling out things they can rule out without expensive tests, they focus on the issue and involve the pet owner in the process and the decision making. I never felt cornered into doing something that I did not think was beneficial to my dog. Furthermore, my ability to pay was never a determinant of the level of care my babies received. Every time I brought up the cost to Dr. Mike, Dr. John or any of their staff I was assured that that's not an issue and will be figured out after my dog gets all the care that was needed. They always held up with their part of the bargain. Their prices are always reasonable (not to say surprisingly "low" compared to other vets in Scottsdale) and again money was never a subject dictating what is best for the animal. Their staff is always courteous and professional and above all friendly! They will schedule you to see your doctor as soon as possible and have a doctor contact you right away if it seems to be an urgent issue. They always follow-up with what they promised to do. In 20+ years of being their patient I have never, not once, had to call them to remind them to do something they are supposed to do. Actually, Dr. Mike on multiple occassions called me on the weekend or after hours to check on how my dogs were doing after treatment or surgery. They all, including docs, know your animal, know their medical history, know what you need so it doesn't feel like you are there for the first time every time you come (had that experience with some vets and my own Docs. more than once.) For what is worth, I am an ER nurse, and through the years in my job have worked with hundreds of doctors. Without an ounce of doubt, I say that all three Dr. Solteros (Rick, Mike and John), and especially Dr. Mike whom I encountered the most, are the most ethical, professional, knowledgable and caring doctors I have ever met!!! As a matter of fact, and in all seriousness, I have asked Dr. Mike if he would be my PCP (Primary Care Physician) on multiple occasions! Also, have to add that Dr. Mike has the BEST surgical stitching skills I have ever seen, the way he does it is a PURE ART!!! I would highly recommend Saguaro Veterinary Clinic (as I do to all my friends and family) for your pet's health needs no matter how small or great. You will not be disappointed!
