As a vegan, I also really appreciate how many options I can find here. The vegan crab cakes are hands down one of my favorites, and I will tear a Caribbean Sunshine DOWN every single time! When I ordered, the staff asked for my name and phone number. I thought it was a little strange that they needed my phone number since they call your name over the mic when your order is ready, but okay. They were busy, so I prepared myself to wait patiently. No biggie. But then I started noticing SEVERAL people who ordered way after me getting their names called and picking up their smoothies. That's when I was like, "Oh heck no, something ain't right!" After waiting about 15 minutes, I finally walked up to the pickup counter and asked when my name was going to be called. I gave the young lady my name, and she first looked over at the smoothies being made, thinking maybe mine was in the process. When she realized it wasn't, she checked the screen and asked, "Was it a phone order?" Nope! I told her I stood right there in line and ordered in person, and I had already watched several people who came in after me get their smoothies. She then looked in the freezer, pulled out ONE smoothie and said, "They had you as a phone order." Now I'm even more irritated because I ordered TWO smoothies. I told her I was supposed to have two, so she opened the freezer again and pulled out my second smoothie. So both of my smoothies had apparently just been sitting in the freezer while I was standing there waiting for my name to be called. I know the mistake wasn't necessarily the young lady's fault, but what bothered me even more was that there was no apology. Not even a simple, "Sorry about the mix-up." Moving into the neighborhood, I was genuinely excited about having this place nearby and supporting the establishment. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I don't think I'll be back. Maybe reconsider asking for a phone number when someone is physically standing in the store ordering, or have a clearer system for distinguishing in-store orders from phone orders. Because waiting patiently while your smoothies are sitting in a freezer the entire time is definitely frustrating.

I immediately stopped and was warmly welcomed by a woman working there. She took the time to walk me around the store that had a great mix of fresh produce, snacks, canned goods, and household items. And the prices are not too bad, very comparable to a Sprouts or Trader Joe's. I will be back when I am back in this area.

There are a number of reasons why the Culver City location was so much better, but perhaps the main drawback at this LA location is the fact that the former had a real sense of ambiance, and uniqueness, particularly when it came to its cozy little cafe section. Now the "cafe" is pretty much just a space within a space. Another real draw to the Culver City location was the fact that they actually had a separate section where "Guest Chefs" could come in and teach entire classes via cooking classes that sometimes you have to sign up for in advance, and other times you could just kind of walk in on it. That was dope! And while the staff was friendly enough, and again ( don't get me wrong it's still a place that I will be back to to purchase much needed product), it's just an unfortunate reality that sometimes no....you can't duplicate the past.
