I love seeds! Though the prices are on the higher end, I always just use my dining dollars here so it makes sense. They have a myriad of lunch sandwich/salad combos either made fresh or pre-packaged, both of which are good. I usually go for the freshly made sandwich combos which come with the sandwich, chips, and a drink. The bavette steak sandwich is definitely a standout at Seeds, the chimichurri pairing perfectly with the steak and the arugula adding a nice crunch to the sandwich. Got a bacon breakfast burrito and cold coffee. Breakfast burritos is something you don't mess with. People who order them are typically looking for something hearty and tasty. I can't say that this burrito was up to par with surrounding places in the neighborhood especially at $6.79. The only coffee option was a small bottle of Califia cold brew almond milk coffee. I've been to Seeds many times and each time I have gone the selection gets more and more limited by the week. I'm not sure if it's because they only get shipments in at the start of the week or what, but by Thursday there are only sandwiches and salads to choose from. Usually there is sushi and different hot meals on display (which are my favorites), but like I mentioned, they are not available by the end of the week which is disappointing. This is most likely due to Covid and Seeds being short staffed, but there are students and visitors on campus that rely on places like Seeds to provide food options. Also, granted that there are basically no dining places available besides EVK and Starbucks that are open, the least Seeds can do is make sure there is a good supply of meals each day. What's good about Seeds is that it's located on campus and does have a variety of both grab-and-go and hot food. What I dislike about this place is that hardly anything is ever labeled with the price, especially on the shelf. The market itself is already overpriced so going in blindly is risky. One day I ran out of milk in my office fridge when I was about to eat some cereal for breakfast. I didn't feel like walking over to Target or Trader Joe's so I opted for Seeds. I found a small box of milk and thought it was the perfect size since I didn't need much. I get to the counter and this small box of milk cost $2.50! For the hot food I think it might be just okay. I know salads are about $7, there's a rotisserie section where you can get chicken and a side for about $7 too. I've only had the sushi and it was $10. I come here despite the 15 minute wait because their paninis are bombdiggity! I'm not sure what sauce they use, but the color is orange and the taste is freaking orgasmic. I have yet to try the sandwiches here but word of mouth is that they're all very delicious. I'm not quite sure why this place doesn't have a solid 4 stars, because I think seeds is wonderful. Seeds is my favorite spot to grab food on campus. Lines do get pretty crazy during peak hours, so if you're coming during lunch time, I would allot about 15-20 minutes for the salad bar, 10-15 minutes for the sandwich bar, and 5 minutes for the random quinoa bar (not sure what this is called but it's next to the salad bar), 5 minutes for the chicken/salmon bar--the line to the actual cashier is about 3-5 minutes long. My go-to salad item is the Beets Salad with added avocado and chicken. You can also sub out the certain ingredients for other ones of the same price to customize your salad. My go-to sandwich item is the Caprese sandwich with dutch crunch bread (trust me, get the dutch crunch bread--toasted). My go-to item in the chicken bar is the regular rotisserie chicken with a side of either mac&cheese (SO GOOD) or mashed potatoes with gravy. The breakfast food here is totally on point. Options are: pancakes, oatmeal, croissant breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, regular breakfast combos with eggs toast and bacon/sausage. My go-to breakfast item here is the sausage breakfast burrito with added avocado. Snacks are available: protein bars, chocolate, nut snacks, candy, chip, cookies, vegan snacks, everything basically... There's also a dessert bar available with ice cream, cookies, cupcakes. You can make a cookie ice cream sandwich! The ice cream here is surprisingly really good...try the Earl Grey flavor! The food here is on the pricier side, but I think it's worth it. That's affirmative. Then YES!!! Seeds is my favorite campus center option. They have five food stations (salad, sandwich, chicken/salmon, sushi and ice cream). Plus they have so much on the shelves! Looking for chips? Check seeds. Looking for almonds? Check seeds. Looking for energy drinks? Again, check seeds! Sidenote: The ice cream is especially amazing! You can get anything from your necessary dosage of vitamin water to the rotisserie chicken with a side of butter corn and string beans with a spoon of gravy over the chicken. The latter of which I recommend you get if you have that awkward thirty or so minutes before your next class and your stomach is wambling for some sustenance. The lines during lunch however are ridiculous. You'll probably spend half of your lunch time just waiting in line for your sandwich to be made, let alone pay for it. But should you have the luxury of time to spend, I recommend you the number 2 pastrami with the thousand island dressing, cole slaw, and pastrami. Also, the lines are super long during prime hours, but they move really fast thanks to the friendly and efficient staff. That being said, at least what you're paying for is unfailingly delicious and probably healthy. Seeds has a great variety of food - salad bar, sandwich bar, regular "cafeteria" meal each day, sushi, stir-fry-ish station, and tons of snacks - there's really something for everyone here. My favorites here are the Pear & Gorgonzola salad (try it on kale!), the Cobb salad, the BTLA, the Turkey pesto, and the Caprese - all of the ingredients are really fresh and nothing ever comes out soggy or gross. I'm especially impressed with the cheese, veggies, and bread they use. (The chicken at the salad station is sometimes questionable...) You really do get quality food. Seeds is my favorite place to get lunch on campus, because all the food served in the perimeter of the store (only open on weekdays until around 5 or 6 PM, depending on the station) is made really fresh and with quality ingredients. Some of my favorites: -Salad bar: The steak salad is new this semester, and there is a lady who works at the station who's super nice and will give you a sample of the steak if you can't decide if you want it. Good call, because that sample got me hooked! I get the salad with champagne vinaigrette (instead of the sriracha dressing) and it's amazing. The southwestern salad is also a popular one and really tasty. -Rotisserie station: Mac n cheese! I was never a fan of mac n cheese until I had the one from Seeds. It's delicious; that top layer of baked cheese is sooo yummy. I love that you can get just a little cup of the mac as a small side order for $3.99 without getting a full rotisserie meal to go along with it. -Soup: All of them- tomato bisque, vegetarian, clam chowder. Tomato bisque is probably my favorite though. Be sure to ask the chef for complimentary bread! -Sandwich station: ..Probably everything. I've only had the chicken panini and aztec chicken sandiwch and they're both great. -Breakfast: The oatmeal is SO good. I've never had the breakfast burritos but I hear lots of great things about it. A very solid lunch/breakfast/dinner spot on campus! Don't be discouraged by the long (extremely long) lines during prime hours--it moves SUPER FAST!! Everything is expensive, but that's expected. The salad bar and sandwich bars are great and if you get there for breakfast it's even better!! The only thing I don't like about the salad/sandwich stations is the chicken--its some kind of weird processed chicken. they could definitely step that up. I give it a four. This was actually my first time getting breakfast here as well as pastries. Came super early in the morning, probably around 7:30 to get breakfast and pastries for studying. The line went quick for us but I know this place gets packed. I like Seeds though. While prices are higher it's convenient if you do live on campus or are up super early for class or studying. They've got a small little market, some cold sandwiches, you can order hot sides/sandwiches, desserts and pastries and drinks. I tried their croissant sandwhich, definitely not for the health conscious mind. It was so greasy and buttery, but made me so happy to eat. I bought two muffins for breakfast and snack over the next 48 hours. I've nibbled on both and they're yummy. Prices are meh, it could be worse but I enjoy the food and I'm not big on eating on campus so it's a treat. I'll be back to try their sandwiches eventually and perhaps their gelato!
