Saigon Bistro is still one of my favorite spots in the East Bay! When I used to work nearby, I stopped in for lunch here and there. Haven't been here in a few years and just came by. Everything is still great: food and service! The interior is welcoming and clean. We arrived at 11:20 on a Friday and it wasn't crowded yet. They told us to sit anywhere we wanted. We started with the shrimp rolls - excellent with the peanut dipping sauce. Rice roll was still very fresh. Quite possible that they are made to order! That's how fresh they were! I had the banh xeo $15.50, the savory crepe. So so good! Perfectly crispy exterior and the shrimp, pork and bean sprouts are nestled inside. My son had the combo pho $13.50 which was also very good! I had a bite - the broth was flavorful and the noodles were cooked to perfection. He also ordered Viet coffee. They no longer served with the drip on top of a glass with condensed milk! It was in a big cup with a plastic cover - much like a boba drink. It was still good - just not what we expected. Will come back! read more

This is an updated review. Many years later Saigon Bistro continues to be one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Concord. The rice dishes and vermicelli dishes are of very high quality. The chicken is always tender and flavorful. Their Pho never disappoints, and their Bun Bo Hue is one of the best in the area. The prices are still good and the portions are large. The staff is friendly and efficient. Overall, this restaurant continues to have a family-owned feel with exceptional quality. It never disappoints. read more

After a disappointing start to our day running our Sunday errands we decided to stop at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant for a midday snack. We ordered the Rangoons and I ordered the #9 Banh Mi, the pork with pate. It was as delicious as ever and is one of my favorites! The rangoons were so delicious! Crispy and light and were exactly what we were craving. My boyfriend got the Strawberry slush and that was so yummy on a hot day. Always delicious and satisfying here. Can't beat their $8 banh mi!! After a long hiatus, I made my return to Saigon Bistro with my buddy George F. On 07/01/2025. We got here at around 11am, just before the lunch rush. The interior looked pretty much the same as my last visit about eight years ago. They did a nice job keeping the place clean. We got an order of fried calamari, a couple bowls of Pho Dac Biet, and an iced coffee. The total, with a tip, was about $55. The calamari was so-so. I could tell it was the premade frozen stuff. The Pho Dac Biet was slightly above average. The broth and the meat toppings were decent, but the noodles were overcooked, which affected the overall experience. I hope they will correct that. Service we received was good. The staff were friendly. All in all, I would say they are average. Pho Lee Hoa Phat in Pacheco has a slight edge over them. read more

This is my family go to spot when we don't want to drive San Jose and want Vietnamese food. Parking can be a hit or miss near the restaurant as it shares the lot with many other restaurants and shops around it. It may look small from the outside but the inside is spacious and clean. Service is always quick, friendly and awesome! The #47 Bun Bo Hue aka BBH ($13.99) is really good. It has a lot of noodles and meat like pork knuckle, pork blood, and slices of beef shanks. My parents usually take the leftover broth home and make another dish with ramen, the broth is that good! #31 Phi Dac Biet or Beef Pho Special ($13.50 or $14.50) is good. Has a lot of variety of different cuts of beef. The #45 Seafood Noodle Soup ($12.99 or $13.99) is decent. Comes with some shrimps but lots of fishballs and calamari/squid. I don't often get it unless I want soup. What I like best is the #52 Com Suon Nuong or Grilled Pork Chop over Rice ($13.25). it comes with some slaps of grilled pork chop, chopped lettuce, picked carrots and daikons, rice and a side of soup and fish sauce. This is my go to post-workout meal and it always hits the spot. They don't skimp on the pork chops either! If you add an egg roll and fried egg it is $15.25 but usually without the extra food, it is already more than enough. read more

Tucked in Park and Shop is this wonderful Vietnamese place that has all kinds of tasty treats! the restaurant is comfortable and clean and has chill music playing. Their BBQ Bahn Mi sandwich was delicious and was served on a great baguette. If you're looking for a flavorful sandwich this is you spot! The Pho is also very tasty with fresh garnishes and comforting broth. They also have great smoothies and boba. High recommend of you are in the area and want some Vietnamese food. read more

One of my go-tos. This place reminds me of the viet restaurants I used to go to when I was younger - where we'd go to eat after volleyball practice, dance class, or over the weekend when parents don't feel like cooking. Good people, good food and nothing fancy. This place is a solid spot to get my viet sandwich (#1 combo with the pate), BBH or Bun Rieu. It's been a while since I've tried this place since it is a little far from home but it still has the best Bun Rieu around (48. Tomato Noodle Soup with Tofu, Pork Patty and Mince Shrimp)! He went above and beyond--offering to package each banh mi sandwich in its own bag, helping me label what was in each one, and even offering to carry everything out to my car. A decent Vietnamese restaurant with a variety of different dishes. It is hidden in the back/corner, so it's easy to miss, since most of the stores and other restaurants are facing the other way and this restaurant's main entrance is on the side building. We ordered cream cheese wontons and two rice plates. One grilled chicken rice plate and one pork chop rice plate combo. The combo includes one egg roll and fried egg. The rice plates come with a side of soup broth, which was really good. Everything came out to about $35-$37, which was a really good price for everything that we ordered! Also, considering how big the portions were as well! Bathrooms were out of toilet paper, napkin dispenser was out (had to request more napkins, but servers were very prompt). There was a fly that was buzzing around our table, which made it annoying and difficult to eat our meal. Don't pay with card because these people like to give themselves a tip when you leave a cash tip!!!! just took my family from out of state to dinner on Friday. Check my bank statement now and was overcharged because they gave himself an extra tip when I left a cash tip. Ridiculous never again beware!!!!!!!!!!!!! Compared to other Viet places in this area- the food here is 5 STARS. (It would be fair to compare it to the Viet food in San Jose) Food here is authentic and probably one of the best Viet places in this area. The star dish here is banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe) with crispy pork belly and shrimp. It was good and very close to homemade, maybe even better than homemade since the batter is extra crispy and can't seem to ever get it that crispy at home. It comes with a large plate of lettuce and fresh herbs to wrap the crepe and dip into fish sauce. I highly recommend this dish here- either as a shared app or entree. Another noteworthy mention is the bun rieu (tomato and crab soup). It's decent. The broth is very flavorful, but definitely ask for more shrimp paste and sate sauce on the side if you want the authentic flavors. read more

This place has been here for as long as I can remember, yet I've never thought to stop by. It's tucked away in the Willow Pass plaza, but my search for banh mi brought me to their doors. The menu pics are all outdated so prices have gone up, but they're still reasonable. A large pho will run you about $13 which isn't bad considering other places are closer to $15 now. They have a good selection of appetizers but no chicken wings if that's your thing, like it is mine. If you're ordering to go, they do have a self ordering tablet at the counter, and then I saw a QR code on their front door as well. I'll probably call in my order the next time because it did take about 15ish min for two banh mi. They only had 1 to go order and 1 family dining, but they had already received their food so not sure what the wait was for. I always order the combo banh mi to try, which has all the Vietnamese cold cuts and pate. However theirs is just okay. It leans more on the savory end because the pickled daikon and carrots just aren't sweet enough to balance it out. The veggies and bread were all fresh though, and I loved that they put in a good slather of pate. The grilled pork bank mi was delicious though! The pork was sooo flavorful and tender so this will now be my go to the next time I come back. 2 banh mis will set you back $16 and some change after tax, which is great considering the size and freshness. You have seen the world "bahn" on menus before. It is the Vietnamese world for "bun" - as in bread - probably on loan from the days of French colonial occupation. The baguette used on a certain type of Vietnamese sandwich is a "bahn." The thick tapioca noodles in a certain crab soup are "bahn." You find more and more that "bahn" is a broad category. No wonder, then, that this crepe dish is a "bahn" too. Talkin' 'bout Bahn Xeo. "Bahn" means bread and "Xeo" is an onomatopoeia for the sizzle the crepe makes when batter hits the hot pan. The texture of the Bahn Xeo at Saigon Bistro is like a pane of glass on the outside and slightly more tender on the inside. Curious about its orangey yellow, I asked the waitress how they are made. She listed coconut, but gave an uncertain shrug when I suggested turmeric. It's probably turmeric. The bahn xeo is filled with pork that is deeply porky, five just barely overcooked shrimp, bean sprouts, and I believe vermicelli noodles. Next to the half moon bahn xeo is a mountainous thicket of lettuce leaves and fresh herbs. I'm not sure if this is protocol, but I lopped pieces of the xeo off and wrapped them in lettuce with herbs. Then, after dipping the wrap in the vinegar fish sauce (do forget the chili paste and a dab of hoisin), and sinking your teeth, you will have never experienced a more intense and complete mouthful of food. The bahn mi lacks pate, so its probably not worth your time. I'm sure the pho and bun bo hue are perfectly suitable. The bun rieu lacks the requisite crab; instead using some of the meats laying around from the other dishes. read more

Got their large-sized Won Ton Egg Noodle Soup Shrimp and BBQ Pork, and it was a lot of food in a ginormous bowl. I absolutely loved it! The broth was savory and the egg noodles were classic, reminding me of Hong Kong style wonton egg noodles soup. The wontons were just ok though in my opinion - the wonton skin kinda got too soft after soaking in the hot broth for some time. The shrimp were good and fresh, but they still had the tails on which I wasn't a fan of. But in general this bowl was super satisfying, and I would definitely order this again next time especially when I'm super hungry. Service was unfortunately a bit lacking in attention lately with the new girl as their server. It was so hard to flag her because she never paid attention to or even looked to the direction of any guest tables. She would deliver food to the customers and then walk straight back to the cashier area/kitchen with her head down, not checking on or looking at the guests at all. Overall a 3 rating... The Bahn Mi sandwiches (#1 & 2) are good sandwiches in Contra Costa County. I would rate that a 4. I ordered a few sandwiches and unfortunately one of them had little meat and lots of pickled daikons & carrots. My kid got that one and was disappointed. Suggestion: please insure the meat ratio in each sandwich is the same. If I wanted more daikon and carrots (which I love), I would have ordered it that way or bought a vegetarian sandwich. The enduring Saigon Bistro. The stores around this restaurant have come and go (especially during covid), and yet this restaurant prevails. I had a quick lunch, grabbed a couple of Banh Mi's on a different date and those reminded me why Saigon Bistro has the staying power in today's tough market. Grilled Pork over rice with eggroll and fried egg addon was my choice when I recently had a lunch here. I was surprised with the generous amount of food that was served. The pork chop was flavorful and the eggroll was delish. On another occasion, I had their combination Banh Mi to go. This IS a bomb Vietnamese sandwich. Copious amount of meat, bread, and veggies was truly appreciated. Their pork Banh Mi was delicious too, though the crunch of the baguette is lost due to the steam emanating from the pork, it is a very well made sandwich as well. Saigon Bistro probably has the best banh mi around these area imho. The price reasonable and justified. Having some serious Banh Mi's, Saigon Bistro is now my regular spot for work lunch. read more

11 years later, and I'm still ordering the same Banh Mi sandwich. Park n Shop has changed a lot since my last review with Saigon Bistro. Service hasn't changed. Location hasn't changed much. Except it's more quieter since Fry's is no longer next door. The food presentation has improved through the years to keep up with the local competition. The quality of food tasted the same. Maybe that's why I still come here? I'm probably going to be a customer here until my wheels fall off. read more
