From Sacramento. Found this spot since I went to get the viral fish sandwich down the block. I went to use the restroom and when I went to open their front door to the restaurant I was hit with the pho aroma. The second time we came into town we made sure to stop here to try a bowl of pho, fish sauce wings, chicken fried rice and viet coffee. Yes to it ALL! I see this block actually got some potential from the pizza spot across the street and an Asian plaza across the way. The gentleman there was super friendly, funny and welcoming.
Just a heads up that the prices for party trays listed on their website is not current. Thought I was purchase a small tray of shrimp spring rolls for $30, but was in fact $50.
Probably wont go back since we don't live in that area. Very mid food. Ok to meh service. Pretty small shop, inside tables and floor were sticky. Menu has a-lot going on. We got a Pho, Seafood soup, Egg rolls and Shrimp spring roll. The broth wasn't warm. Little to no protein in both soup noodle. Flavors were bland. The part that got us was how the man who worked there, just ignored us from the time we walked in. Bad vibes if you know what I mean. Private lot in front though
Ample parking and tables available. Service is quick. Food: - Beef Stew (3/5): more of a broth than a stew, did not hit the spot. - Shrimp rolls (5/5): can't go wrong - Pho Dat Biet (4/5): comforting, but not the best I ever had
It was our first time here and upon sitting down at our table, we noticed that there were a lot of regulars so we knew this was going to be a good place. It was nice to see that the host was also taking good care and regularly checking up on people. Now come to the food, we got the tofu pho, tofu vermicelli bowl, and tofu banh mi, all of which were excellent. Now the tofu pho is not vegetarian because they use chicken soup and I'm not sure if the fish sauce for the vermicelli bowl was vegetarian either. But everything tasted incredible and fresh. If it wasnt so far to us, we would have become regulars too!!
It was my first time trying their garlic noodles with Korean-style short ribs (galbi), and it was delicious. The noodles were thick and chewy with a rich, garlicky, buttery flavor. The short ribs were excellent. They were perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender. I was initially worried that the galbi flavor might clash with the garlic noodles, but they paired surprisingly well. Everything was super yummy. The ambiance was pretty standard, though the restaurant itself was super cold inside (in the winter). On the plus side, the service was good and quick.
Great family ran spot that has a hearty bun rieu! There's plenty of seats on the outside and inside. Owner is really friendly and service is quick. Spring rolls were very fresh and the crunch made it even better. The bun rieu is probably one of the most flavorful ones I've had and you can really taste the crab which i appreciated. Would come back to try the other dishes!
There's a small parking lot, which is convenient. The staff was very friendly with quick service. The inside is small, but the owner is very welcoming and creates a warm atmosphere. It looks like they get a lot of rgualrs and takeout orders here. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue and was disappointed that it came out lukewarm, which made it less enjoyable. Other than the temperature issue, everything was tasty. The broth had good flavor without being too spicy, and the portion size was solid. Overall, friendly service and good flavors, but I wish the soup had been served hot.
===TL;DR=== - Spicy beef noodle soup w/ no greens - Vermicelli ===TMI=== Seems to be a neighborhood favorite as a lot of families were there when I went. Good spot for a quick fix. I notice a lot of folks also ordered takeout. Not the best BBH I've had but I'm curious to try their pho next time. They have good hot sauces tho!
The handsome young man with the nice haircut is always SO FUNNY! When he takes our order he says, "Annnnd," after everything we choose and then he says how soon until quitting time. The broth is always so fresh and flavorful, the meat is juicy and tender and the noodles are perfect. The best peanut sauce in the East Bay, too! I'm coming back!
Compared to the Tri-Valley, I think San Leandro has a larger and better selection of Vietnamese restaurants. We frequented Saigon House for lunch twice and both times the food was excellent. Service is quick and efficient, and there's plenty of seating inside and outside. Another plus is that they have two clean unisex bathrooms in the back next to the kitchen. I recommend: * Garlic noodles with grilled chicken - Sounds simple but this is true comfort food. Thin, chewy round noodles with tons of ginger-garlic-scallion flavors and some seriously juicy chicken meat. *Grilled pork over rice - The texture of the pork seems ground to me, so its more like a pork satay as compared to say, pork loin. If you want a chewier texture, get the pork chop instead. The flavor of the pork are a good balance of gingery and salty, and the soft texture makes the dish toddler friendly too. *I like how you can mix and match side items to add some more protein: grilled chicken, grilled pork, pork chop, Kalbi, or in our case, some crispy fish cakes with that sweet-sour dipping sauce. * For Pho, my wife liked #19 which has all the beefy items while leaving out the tripe and tendon. Plenty of parking in the shared parking lot. They also have a solid takeout business and can crank up large party trays of stuff for catering.
This was my first time coming here after a super long time. I'm glad I did because it was so good!! I got the BBH as always-- 9/10! Also tried Tofu Goi Cuon and it was so yummy! It's a spring roll that comes with lettuce, rice noodle, egg roll wrapper, and fried tofu. I loved the peanut sauce it came with as it really tied together the flavors. The egg roll wrapper also gave it a nice additional texture. My BF got the Bun Cha Vermicelli Bowl. It was also pretty good! 9/10, very filling Service was great, seems like a cute mom and pop shop. I didn't know they opened at 0900, I came at 0838 and they still kindly welcomed us with open arms! Thank you not many viet places open this early I feel, I will be back!! read more

We had a wonderful visit, the staff was friendly and there were a few other customers in the restaurant. At their suggestion I got the Korean Short Ribs with Garlic Noodles - very good flavor a very generous portions. My wife got some more traditional Vietnamese dishes and she liked them quite a bit. We will be returning soon to try their pho. read more

Dunno how to explain but there is an extra level of comfort foodness in having a bowl of bun bo hue specifically in the Bay Area lol. The bun bo hue here is pretty solid. Nothing mind-blowing in terms of bun bo hue standards but still super flavorful and not overly salty at all. The noodles were a tad overcooked and strangely there weren't any pork blood cubes in the bowl. My sister ordered the com bo luc lac. I tried some of it and the beef was just okay. Not the most succulent and there was quite a lot of stir fried onions on the plate (amount was almost as much as that of meat). Overall a little overpriced for what it was. There's kinda a language barrier here but staff crew is very friendly. Restaurant is located in a medium-sized plaza. Had no trouble finding parking. read more

Service is good here. The owner was very nice to my daughter. He tries to make conversation with her. We ordered food to taste test before doing a catering order. The food comes out quick and its hot. Made to order goodness. The restaurant is filled with beautiful flowers feels like cherry blossom season year around. They open on Saturdays from 9a - 8pm and you can call in your catering order at least one day ahead. We will be back in a few weeks. read more

Very friendly staff, nice spot, and seems like a family-run business. The broth is on point--flavorful and well-balanced. They also provide a solid amount of condiments to customize your bowl, including a chili paste that has a good amount of spice and great flavor. Definitely a great spot to check out! read more

This is honestly a very delicious and best pho in the town. I went to a different pho place but regretted it instantly never will I do that again. I can say the broth of the the pho by itself was just so delicious it didn't even need any sauce or anything. I like to be extra and I love that spice on my pho so I always add sauce. The service is amazing as well they take your order fast and bring out the food fast as well. read more
I was genuinely surprised how delicious the food is here. It was my first time trying this place and I loved everything we ordered! The interior was simple but cleverly decorated and they have both indoor and outdoor dining! The beef pho, fried egg rolls, and fresh spring rolls made a complete lunch and I literally devoured everything. The beef broth had a rich flavor and the rice noodle was cooked to just the right texture. Spring rolls peanut sauce was tasty that I practically licked it clean Will visit again soon! read more

I came on a Saturday for lunch around 12pm and it was busy with customers inside and take out orders. The food came out within 10 minutes of us ordering. The nem nuong spring rolls were so good, the crunchy rice paper and the pork were so yummy it reminded me of Brodard's in LA (just missing the sauce). The bun bo hue is now my favorite in the East Bay, I will definitely be back whenever I'm craving BBH. They use different meat (no pork hock, no tendon, no pork blood) but I don't mind since I don't really eat that when I get BBH. The pho was really solid too but meat quality isn't up there but it still hits the spot. Prices are still really good, all 3 came out to $40 before tip. This is my new go to spot for BBH and pho. read more

This place has a very home feel to it. The manager gets very comfortable with his customers almost like an uncle you don't see very often who makes jokes and Pokes fun at you, but he doesn't mind if you poke fun back the pho here that I get is the well-done beef and I get the fried shrimp rolls. It's always great and very filling the Vietnamese coffee is also the best I've ever had it's very smooth and strong. I get one every time that I buy food there. I've even gone there minutes before closing and he never rushes you out. He says I'm gonna be here anyway have a seat. Don't worry.and he remembers you after a couple times he doesn't even ask what I want anymore he just knows I'll get the same thing and repeats to me to which I say yes haha read more

Amazing garlic noodles, going to be my go to spot. I did order a rare beef pho as well & they forgot to bring it out. By the time it got to my table it was fully cooked. So that I wasn't happy about. But nice service & great tasting. read more

A solid 3.5 stars... if I may. Affordable prices with a variety of dishes. (It's nice to have one on rotation without breaking the bank nowadays) The pho here does what it needs to do....comfort your soul and deliver flavors. The rocket shrimps are a great add-on. I had a great experience here. Very nice staff, fast service and delicious meal. I ordered a banh mi with beef and added a fried egg. The flavor was on point and the bread was super fresh and crispy outside. Just perfect. I also got Thai tea which was excellent. You won't be disappointed! read more

Met up with the squad, apparently this was halfway for us. This place is not set up in a western way, the staff doesn't take the order at the table. Don't see this as a complaint, see it as a set up. You grab a menu and go to counter to order, picture a fast food counter but you save what you order from the menu instead of the screen. The beef pho is amazing!!!!! So was the spring rolls and the Korean bbq style ribs were delightful. Left super full, prices were reasonable, would recommend and return. It's packed on Sunday lunch so give yourself time to get a table. read more
Amazing price for amazing quality! The total for two dishes came out to be ~$35 with tip and it was a great experience! I got the pho with brisket and tendon which was so soft, flavorful, with great noodles! I loved the soup too, it was strong but it mixed well with the lemons and the bean sprouts. My sister also loved her beef short rib dish. The service was great! George was very cool and the server was very sweet when I asked her for more lemons. The dishes were brought out ~10 to 15 minutes after we ordered and we sat there for 30 minutes talking and no one minded. I also love how the utensils are wrapped, it was very clean and the sauce array was well organized too. They also have an extensive menu which was nice to see and learn about. read more
My friend invited me out to dinner, it was my first time trying Vietnamese food and I was so impressed that we came back the next month! Service is fast, order taken right away. No-frills pho restaurant with solid noodle soup. Decent bowl for the very reasonable price. Stopped by for a pre-dinner snack and as expected, it was pretty slow at 4pm. The service was very nice. Table was very clean and had good selection of condiments. There was even a bottle of Sriracha!! 21: Good broth that was deep in flavor. Not as much variation in cuts of meat like at other places but still good! 65: Was not feeling beef and this was the perfect bowl to get. The broth was very clean and light. I just went in to get some shrimp garlic noodles to pair with some deep fried chicken drums , the price for the noodles was reasonable considering the fact that they come with shrimp 15$ but on my way out I started to open my bag and they stared me down and asked what was I doing i replied I'm just checking to make sure I have soy sauce (which they did not provide) he replied u don't need it trust me so I'm thinking like okkkkk these are finna be fire NOOO GUYS THEY WERE DRYYY AND BURNT WITH NO FLAVOR WHAT SO EVER THEY DIDN'T SMELL LIKE GARLIC NOR TASTE LIKE IT HIGHLY UPSET. THE PLACE WAS A CLUTTERED And very small I I WOULDN'T recommend a DINE IN experience OVERALL MY VISIT WAS BLAND UNWELCOMING AND RUSHED. read more

This review is for delivery. My brother had ordered combination beef pho. My sister and I both ordered a beef banh mi. And we all shared an order of fried wontons. My brother said his pho was really good and the broth was very tasty. I didn't even get a chance to take a photo of his soup. My sandwich was full of flavorful ingredients. And we wished we had ordered more of the fried wontons. They were yummm! My only thing was the wait on delivery. Other than that, the food is worth ordering from again. read more
The chicken & beef broth both were amazing! Baby & me ordered this in a few nights ago. We both were feeling under the weather after a spontaneous lil trip we decided to take lol! Only he'll understand that, but the next day we were not feeling up to anything. So decided to order this because I mean soup heals all doesn't it? I got him the beef & me chicken! I loved mine so much however I don't like rice noodles and that's what it came with.. sadly it didn't give me an option to be basic and ask for egg noodles lol! I really just can't stand rice noodles and I felt like my soup was just full of rice noddles. I also wished I could've got extra green onions & lemon! Flavor of the broth was on point tho, cook of the chicken was great! My baby's beef was good too, almost butter like. He added hoisin sauce tho and I wasn't a fan of it. Also ordered shrimp fried rice.. I hate peas and they added ALOT of them so I did sit there picking them out. Rice want too special pretty bland to me but nothing a lil hot sauce couldn't fix. I recommend and can't wait to try other items on menu! read more

Pretty much. A little meat with veggies and sliced jalapeños on a bun. Unfortunately, I haven't tried the Saigon banh mi yet, so it could vary from what I'm used to.
