I love coming here for a nice comforting meal. The restaurant is tucked in the corner and it's small and homey. I always get number 5 which is the shredded white chicken breast. The chicken isn't dried compared to other pho places, it's nice and tender and they definitely don't skimp on it. The best part is the ginger sauce ! The broth is slightly on the sweeter but can be changed with some of the sauces on the table. I love that they offer cooked bean sprouts instead of the raw one. It does get quite busy so I usually come right at opening ! Lots of parking in the lot but it does get filled pretty quick. read more

Pho Ga Huong is in the same strip mall as DT Dim Sum albeit on the opposite side and at the far end. Years ago, when I worked in the area, it was a Chinese restaurant that I had lunch at on occasion. Recently, I came across the reviews for Pho Ga Huong Que. The very positive comments made me add this restaurant to my list of places to try. Last week, we had no plans and lots of time for lunch, so I made the drive over. We arrived before opening and sat outside for a few minutes. When the time came, we entered. A woman sitting at the first booth greeted us and directed us to a booth. Menus were presented as was hot tea. The restaurant appeared to be clean and well-spaced even though it was not huge. Other guests entered and were seated. Our orders were taken. Very quickly, the food began to arrive. Fried Shrimp Cake - 3 - These fried very well, crispy on the outside. Inside, however, the cake itself was very similar to Japanese Kamaboko (Fish Cake). We didn't notice a distinctive shrimp flavor. Beef Stew Noodle Soup - 5 - She ordered this with Pho Noodles. Everything about this bowl was spot on. From the broth and the noodles to the beef. Perfect cold weather food. Oxtail Noodles Soup - 5 - I ordered mine with Egg Noodles. Among the many foods that I'm a freak for; a good Oxtail is something that I'm always on the seeking. I would have to say that this bowl was even better than her Beef Stew. We ate, we enjoyed, we conversed. When we were done, we asked for a couple of containers. Her for the soup and noodles that she couldn't finish. Me, for the one Oxtail remaining plus the remainder of my broth. My wife went up to register and paid. Because the receipt had not be delivered to our table, I estimated how much lunch had cost to compare to what she paid. She looked at the receipt and appeared confused before handing it to me. I looked at it and suggested that she show it to the cashier who was once again sitting in the booth behind us. The cashier took a look at the receipt, and then a closer look with an intake of breath. She apologized profusely and explained that there was an error on our check. The 71-cents that we had paid was incorrect! I told her that we had suspected as much as she worked to recalculate the correct amount. My offer to tell all of our friends, family and neighbors about how inexpensive the restaurant was not enough to dissuade her from charging us the correct amount. Oh well. One of my go-to spots for chicken pho! I used to go to their location in Oakland (which was closer), so I was a little bummed out when they relocated further away from me, but they take card as a form of payment now (which wasn't an option before) so it's not so bad. They have a lot of things to choose from but I usually order the shredded chicken pho with the skinny pho noodles. Broth is delicious on its own so I don't add anything extra but sriracha and pickled peppers for spice, as well as their ginger scallion sauce on the side for dipping (but they do have condiments that you can add if needed). Vietnamese iced coffee is always a nice addition but I was so full so I skipped out on that this time. Place is usually packed so keep that in mind. It's a decent size place but does fill up fast. Clean and well maintained. This restaurant is located in a shared parking lot with other stores so parking fills up fast on the weekends otherwise weekdays are fine. I'm a big pho ga fan and have always been loyal to Turtle Tower, but a bunch of friends told me Pho Ga Huong Que is just as good (if not better), so I was really excited to check it out. My first attempt was a couple weeks ago right after they moved locations but the line was out the door. Came back this past Sunday for lunch and walked right in, no wait. My husband ordered the bone-in chicken noodle soup with pho noodles, and I went for the shredded chicken noodle soup with ho fun. What I liked: -Love that you can choose between bone-in or shredded chicken. I usually go shredded because it's less work/messy, bone-in always has great flavor. -you can pick your noodles! I want to start off by saying that I really didn't expect much. I don't care for steamed chicken like that, and pho ga (chicken pho) isn't my usual go to, but the BF said this place was the ultimate chicken noodle spot in Oakland, so of course we had to give their new location a try. WELLL WELL WELLL! Looks like this move was the comeback that they needed, cause their new location is clean and they now offer a special chili paste that's hellaaaaa good! They have the usual condiments on the table and I like that they have wrapped disposable chopsticks for use. The special chili paste is brought to your table, so if you don't get one, make sure you ask. They also give you a little scoop of the ginger scallion oil if you get anything with steamed chicken (rice or noodle). They have pickled jalapenos too but you gotta ask for that as well! BF had the #1 with the steamed chicken with bone, and giblets. This comes with liver too just FYI. I had the #13 chow chew noodle (chao chiu on their menu). We both got ours with ho fun noodles, but you can choose between several types. First of all, the bowls are hella big. Price tag is about $17 now, so at least the portions match. The wait wasn't too bad, and they do load up the bowls with the proteins. They only give you steamed bean sprouts on the side, but we asked for extra cilantro for our bowls and that wasn't an issue. The chow chew ho fun had hella goodies! Lot of fish balls, meat balls, shrimp and ground pork! A lot of y'all swear by VH but I personally would eat this over VH any day! Pro move - mix the ginger scallion with the chili paste, hoisin and sriracha. Dip the pickled jalapeno slices in there and top your bites of noodle or rice or whatever you're eating with this. I was feeling under the weather and wanted chicken soup so my husband and I made it to Pho Ga Huong Que before closing. It's a bit hard since they do close earlier than other restaurants around the area, but the taste is great. The parking around can be a bit rough, but there's more space near foodnet. There's no better place for a big bowl of chicken pho than Pho Ga. I've been to their Oakland location many years ago and have been meaning to go again, so when I heard that they had relocated to San Leandro with longer hours, I was determined to make it here. I finally had the chance on a recent Friday afternoon. I got there at 5:30, right before they close, and it wasn't busy at all. The menu is pretty straightforward with two pages of rice plates and noodle options. I got the same thing I got before, the #2 shredded chicken pho with ho fun noodles for $15.95. They're fast here! No joke, my chicken pho came out within a minute of ordering. I first took a sip of the soup and it was just as good as I remember, with a rich and slightly sweet chicken flavor. The shredded chicken is bland on its own, but once you dip it in the ginger scallion crack sauce they have, it's so good! I really enjoyed my bowl of chicken pho, but I wish 1) they give you more ginger sauce by default (I had to ask for seconds) and 2) they offered different sizes. I was starving when I walked in, and even then I was struggling to finish the noodles and soup because it's a GIANT bowl. I would appreciate it if they offered a smaller bowl as well, for those with a smaller stomach. I paid ~$20 after tax and tip, so it's definitely not as cheap as it used to be. The restaurant has about 12-14 tables, and can get quite busy. Takes around 10-15 minutes to get your food, so they're probably getting in the groove. However I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by the service and the quality of the food here. The soup lacked depth in the flavor. It wasn't overly salty, but it's not rich in the way you'd expect a chicken pho to taste. The beef stew was slightly better, I loved how tender the beef was. It fell apart in your mouth, even the tendons were very soft and easy to eat. The milk tea and Thai tea were nothing special, but still pleasant to have along with the noodles. We came here on a weekend day and this place was super packed. There were a steady stream of people but we were able to get a table. We found out upon sitting down that they only make chicken broth here and not beef or any other type of broth. I ordered the plain noodles and my partner ordered the seafood noodle soup. We thought that the noodle portions were really generous. But the salt was a little on the saltier side, even if the flavors might be more muted due to the chicken broth. I wanted to come eat here after I saw a posting on social media. Many positive comments were made. Our 19th hole was here this past Tuesday. The eight of us arrived around 1pm to a line out the door. What stuck me was the footprint- the building is a bungalow raised off the ground. The interior housed booths along the wall with tables in the center. Very very narrow. We got two tables of four after our friend went in to ask how long the wait. Bypassed several customers waiting in line. The laminated menu is two sided. Chicken is the focus. Ordered- * sis & I both had the shredded chicken pho. Choice of noodle type. She had egg noodles and I had pho noodles. Other choices were Ho fun and vermicelli. The broth was excellent and the chicken was very flavorful. * hubby & BIL both had beef stew noodle soup. Both chose pho noodles. They both enjoyed their choice. I thought too much oil floating on top. I'm not sure I would order this dish. A small dish of parboiled bean sprouts was placed on the table for the four of us to share. I was surprised this longtime Oakland pho house pulled up stakes in Little Saigon and moved to this somewhat remote location in San Leandro. The funny thing is that I had patronized the previous occupant of this space, Pho T&T, because it came midway through my walk from Marina Park (it was pretty good - review: https://yelp.to/09d_2q-XbG). The other irony was that I had tried Pho Ga Huong Que for the first time in its former location just a few months ago. I have to admit I was kinda disappointed with the pho ga I ordered back then but wanted to try it again because I need to support chicken pho places. So with all that in mind, I made it here and was immediately pleased with their new laminated menu, which still includes non-pho plates I need to try like the $15.95 Chicken with Hainan Rice and the $14.95 Scrambled Eggs and Shrimp over Rice. I've wanted to try this place since people kept raving about it when they were in Oakland. After reading the reviews, people said the lines were long, so I tried to go during non-peak hours. I arrived at 1:45pm on the weekday, and three tables were available. I picked #2, which is shredded chicken pho, which has white and dark meat. If you want white meat only, then you want #5. I never order chicken pho since I'm a beef pho type of guy. I'll have to say this is the best chicken pho I've had. The broth is savory without tasting like too much MSG. The chicken is tender and not chewy like at some places. The pho comes with a side of steamed bean sprouts. I wish they had Thai basil, lime, and jalapenos. I also wish they had fried shallots in the pho, which would elevate it even more. The pho comes with ginger sauce to dip the chicken in, which is delicious. Pho Ga Huong Que is back in action after their move from Oakland to San Leandro. Same owners, same good food, just in a new, clean, safe location. The new spot is smaller than the old one with about 14 tables to sit at with some tables able to hold two to four people per table. It gets busy during lunch time, so expect a wait of 10 to 15 minutes around noon but it eases up after the lunch time rush. On this occasion I ordered: Chicken Pho: subtle broth with a huge portion of noodles. Shredded chicken and of course I put a little sriracha and ginger sauce to jazz up the pho. Excellent soup. Egg rolls: filled with mushrooms and shrimp, these little bite sized morsels are delicious. Hainan Chicken rice: simple dish. I probably will stick to the chicken in my pho but if you are in the mood for flavored rice, this is a good dish. Oxtails and rice: this is my favorite dish here. They have it now here and though it's still good, I would have to say it's not as good as when it was originally in Oakland. Overall, it looks about the same as before but there are now some funny chicken graphics on the wall haha. On a Saturday for lunch - it was packed! The star of the show is the chicken. It's incredibly umami and meaty! There's a giant portion of noodles - felt endless and almost excessive but I'm not complaining. The soup itself isn't something to write home about. It was a quick decision to come here. On a cold morning, few things beat a steaming bowl of pho. It was an average bowl, which if that's all I ordered it would be fine. I also decided to order the scrambled eggs with shrimp over rice, and that's where it went a bit sideways. I was expecting a runny scrambled egg to serve like a wet compliment to the rice, but this came out a bit too cooked. I'll come back again but will remember to order something else. This was our 19th hole lunch. We've eaten at the previous Pho located here (and wasn't impressed) but Pho Ga Huong Que was on our radar to try. Arrived at 1:00 pm and long line out the door. We went into ask how long for 8 and we were immediately seated at two tables for four. Don't know how we bypassed the line? Our table of four each couple shared a bowl of Pho with choice of noodle and an eggroll appetizer. We ordered Won Ton with Ho Fun noodle. Other couple ordered Beef Stew with Ho Fun and an appetizer. The broth was excellent especially when we added a splash of Hoisin and hot sauce. The eggrolls were five short pieces; crispy crunchy and very good that came with a dip and a small salad like lettuce tomato. Even though very good rolls I felt pricey for the size of the rolls that you usually get when ordering eggrolls. I think this place is known for their chicken? We did enjoy the food and the clean atmosphere. It was very loud and noisy inside. We may be back but it's not easy to get table for eight so our group would probably always have to split up. That said we probably will be back because most of us did enjoy the food. read more

Pho Ga Huong Que relocated from Oakland to San Leandro and I honestly love the new location! It's located in a plaza, with parking and next to a Chinese grocery store. The inside is smaller than their old location, but their service is so quick that it really doesn't make a huge impact. I've been eating the Pho Ga here since I was a little girl and can say that the soup has been consistent since. I remember back in 2018, I ate their Pho Ga religiously every Sunday lol. The first sip of soup is always nostalgic. I get shredded chicken in my pho, but my mom prefers bone in chicken. The soups are served with cooked bean sprouts and a side of green onion ginger sauce. read more

I was in a bit of a rush that day, so I was just looking for a quick takeaway snack. I found this place while searching and thought the spring rolls （Cha Gio) looked really good, so I ordered two orders. Each order only comes with five small pieces and a little bit of vegetables, and after tax it was almost $10 each, which feels quite expensive. That said, they were tasty. Pho Ga Huong Que used to be in Oakland but recently moved to San Leandro. Its located in a plaza so there's parking. It's a smaller location but food is just as good! We came here on grand opening day and there was a short line when we got there for lunch. We ordered the plain noodle soup for $7.50 and a half fresh chicken for $18.95 (enough for 2). Also, tried the chicken giblets ($8.95), which was mostly gizzard. It did take awhile for the food to come out. The broth was clean and chicken was good but not too much flavor as the sauce adds a lot of flavor to it. You can also ask for extra sauce. The ho fun noodle was really good - silky and it doesn't break very easily. Portion was decent. read more
