We are big fans of this small market, and we're glad it is right up the road! We frequent Saigon Market for our ethnic goods and dishes we prepare. The staff has always been friendly and patient, and you can surprisingly find a wide variety of items here. We have not tried any of their hot food, but we see that it is popular. We don't always find what we need in this little market, but we are still grateful for its service! The parking lot is small in a plaza with many other businesses, including restaurants, but you'll always find parking. The checkout process is consistently efficient, even when there is a line of patrons, and we certainly appreciate that. read more

Soo refreshing to have a local Asian grocery store without having to go to the overpriced 99 ranch or driving out to H Mart. I love that it is small so I never have to wait to check out or worry about parking. I get most everything I need from here for SEA cuisine (papaya salad ingredients, sticky rice, rice pin noodles, frozen ube, canned lychee etc etc). Between a regular grocery store and Saigon market, I find that I don't need to go to the large Asian grocery stores as often to get what I need! This is my go to market when I am over at the Mister's. Dan the owner is always so welcoming and super helpful if you can't find an item. All the ladies that work there are always so nice and polite.The store is clean and stocked with all kinds of options, soy sauces, fish sauces, chili oils, sambals, pickled veggies, dried noodles and fresh noodles, fresh vegetables, frozen egg rolls, frozen seafood and fresh seafood. Bags of rice (jasmine, short grain, long grain, basmati, sweet rice, Japanese rice, peruvian desserts, fresh baked pasteries (chocolate croissants are my fave every time I go there) and you can pick out your fish and they will clean it and fry it right then and there for you. The gentleman behind the fish counter is always so nice. Sweet snacks, savory snacks, steaks, pork chops, shrimps (head on, head off, peeled and deviened, not peeled all in different sizes to choose from. All these spices and all kinds of things. Saigon market surprisingly has a lot of Asian items there. Bao mix, pho broth packets, steamers, Asian utensils, egg roll wrappers, etc. I was incredibly surprised! It's not the biggest market, but it's pretty clean, close to my house, service is good, and feels nice to support a local store. read more

Talking with my buddies and how I have to drive to Carson to get Filipino spices or South Torrance to get Korean supplies and they let me know of this market that is much closer. Great small local Asian market. Has Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Filipino and Peruvian + more spices and items. Typical of what I would see when visiting Chinatown or other Asian markets. They have a bakery and empanadas and fresh bread and other things as well. Prices are not the cheapest but it's not a big grocery store so no worries. I wanted to make Pho since it's getting cold and remembered what my friends told me so went here and found the spices/mixes and marinade that I needed plus more. Made Pho and Korean BBQ and found more lumpia wrappers and my wife loved it all but of course she said I need more practice on my lumpia wrapping lol :) If you live in the Southbay, this is a good choice for quick needed items. read more

A small market with a variety of Asian products located in a stip mall, with the added bonus of being connected to a Peruvian Market. This is my mom's go to spot for Indonesian spices. I joined her on her last visit and walked through the tightly spaced aisles to discover that there is a small meat counter in the back and a small produce area as well. Prices are fair and the variety of products is good. We were in need of a particular item and the owner was helpful in leaving the register to help us find it. Just fun to browse if you're in the area. Next time, I'll check out the Peruvian Market. read more

Stumbled upon this place as I was looking for Chinese broccoli. Most Asian groceries that would have this would be near the OC area and I wasn't trying to go that distance since I was already in this area. This is a small market that sells ethnic grocery items; from Chinese broccoli, to Peruvian spices. It's not like a Whole Foods, so don't expect glamour. The last time I came here, they were selling these giant alfajores for like $1 (or was it $2)? Either way, alfajores are usually more expensive than that. Hands down one of the best markets here in the South Bay! The produce is fresh and the herbs are kept well in water. Prices are fair if not affordable and the cleanliness of the entire facility is top notch. Parking is always available, the freeway is a block away and it's located next to great eateries. The selection of products are plenty and they vary. Every time a recipe calls for an ingredient that is uncommon, I don't waste time looking at other markets and head right on over. I've driven by this market for years and never stopped in. After seeing a picture of Thai curry paste posted on yelp, I decided to stop in. I was a little confused after parking in the lot because there seemed to be several doors leading in. I wasn't sure if I was walking into the right market, but found out that they all lead to the same place. There's a bakery/deli on one end, meat market towards the back, produce displayed out front and in the middle of the market, and spices and canned goods towards the left. The market appears to cater to different nationalities. I asked a gentleman at the counter if he had Thai curry paste and he directed me to aisle 3 on the left side. I was so surprised to see such a variety of the Maesri brand of paste, which I discovered watching YouTube as being one of the better brands. I had tried their green and red curry pastes recently and it really took my curry making to another level. I selected 8 cans of different pastes and felt like I won the lottery since I've been on the hunt for this brand for a while. I found their produce section and picked up Thai basil for only 99 cents a bunch. I saw other items that you would only find in an Asian market, such as Thai eggplants and bananas which looked like apple bananas that I only get to eat in Hawaii. The cashier who rang me up was so friendly and said if I ever wanted something, he'd be sure to help me. I wasn't sure if he meant that he'd help locate it in the store, or if he'd order it for me. It was a nice gesture nonetheless. He also told me that they had a seafood section in the back and fry fish for free. I'm so glad that I read all of the positive yelp reviews for Saigon Market and dropped in today. I know I'll be back. read more

I just spent over $200 for lots of spices, condiments, snacks, and frozen food given that I'm more serious in cooking due to this lockdown. They have amazing choices primarily for Southeast Asian and Peruvian ingredients. The goal was to score tamarind soup mix and bokchoy. (Hubbers made a kind request for me to make pork tamarind soup for dinner.) I didn't feel like driving all the way to my regular Asian store given I was nowhere near home. As always, Yelp was to the rescue and showed there's one pretty close to where I was (at the time.) I was in a bit of a time constraint, so I needed to get in, get my stuff, get out. Huge parking lot with plenty of spaces. I was immediately impressed by the produce they have displayed outside. But I didn't have time to look around. I went straight inside and easily found what I needed: packets of the soup mix and a few aisles down were the fresh vegetables. Seemed limited, but they did have what I need. If I didn't know any better, I think the bokchoy was most likely harvested that same day - they were incredibly FRESH. Total damage for two packets and veggies: $1.79. ME: Really? That's it? CASHIER: Yep. Nothing too pricey here. I was out in less than 3 minutes. I saw a bakery or food service area of some sort on the other side. I will return and check that out (as well as all their other products) when I have a bit more time. Solid 4. There's definitely a next visit. I'll make sure to take my time then and determine if they deserve the 5th. read more

Great small market I love there open meat market! And other various things that I've purchased from there over the years. But I know we're dealing with Covid and things are extremely high. I haven't been there in quite some time. 5 pounds of chicken gizzards couldn't find them anywhere else! 5 pounds of oxtails came up to $ 42.22. Price gouging is out-of-control all over, surely I wasn't expecting that. In the past that one even cost me $10. But I get it! Everything was good those oxtails were very good. My intention today was to get Vietnamese sandwiches but the bakery section was closed.. maybe it is closed due to pandemic. Saigon Market is a nice niche market with a combination of Vietnamese items and some Mexican items. If you don't want to drive all the way down to Westminster for Vietnamese groceries, Saigon Market has really solid basics with vegetables, protein, and noodles/rice. I used to shop here all the time and im not sure why I stopped going there . My mom kept talking how this place now has Peruvian tamales , pan con chicharron (pork sandwich) and other Peruvian breakfast and she got me to go my favorite Pan con chicharron . It was not like the one i love from El Rocoto but it was pretty good i gave them 4 stars just because I didn't try it fresh so i will be making a visit to this market soon ;) read more

Nice market, definitely not large those other retail markets, but has a great family feel to it. I didn't walk around the store because my main mission was to buy some sandwiches from the deli, but I did notice a nice little bakery item selection. It was pretty cool because they were stored inside this glass cabinet wall unit and on carts. It's hard for me to explain but I recommend going and trying some because the pastries are delicious. I bought a few empanadas (beef and chicken) and a strawberry and pineapple pastry. It's small, but the people there are very kind and it just brings back nostalgia of going to your local market instead of big supermarket stores. This is your local Vietnamese slash Peruvian market that serves the Lawndale/South Bay area. I remember coming here when my dad wanted fresh fish that they would cut on the spot. So its much more of a fresh produce that you can't find in major grocery stores. They specialize in those countries products so it's a little piece of home for those people. They also have a deli and bakery inside. In my opinion this place is a little run down and could use some upgrades, however it seems to work for the community. read more

A fresh bakery, juices/smoothies (non whitewashed,lol), burgers, tacos, fresh fish, butcher shop, a produce variety that rivals (and/or destroys) local corporate grocery chains. Edited: A fellow yelper informed my that my review was incorrect so here's the correction. This review is strictly for the food, Banh Mi, on the right hand side. Since this is a mixed Grocery Store, not solely a Vietnamese store, the sandwiches both have Vietnamese and Latin fillings. Little did I know, this is a Vietnamese/Peruvian sandwich place! I've ordered the Chicharron and the Lemon Grass BBQ Pork. Each sandwich was about $3-$4. Not the cheapest but they're pretty meaty. Chicharron - HUGE and heavy. Peruvian sandwich. It has lots of slices of Pork Belly and not too fatty at all! It's also accompanied by pickled red onions, and slices of cooked sweet potato. I enjoyed this a lot and the bread was good. It has a nice crisp on the outside yet it's still soft. I prefer this bread over Lee's. I drizzled Sriracha to add a little more spice and flavor and it's perfect. I definitely cannot eat the whole thing by myself! Lemon Gass BBQ Pork. Different, this is something not found in a lot of Banh Mi places. Nonethless, it was flavorful. It's like a flat sausage since it's ground pork with seasoning. You can really taste the lemon grass. This one was good too. With the limited selection, this is the best Banh Mi place in the South Bay. read more
