The eggrolls are made with ground pork, onions, carrots, radishes, and vermicelli wrapped in rice paper served with sweet and sour sauce (2 for $4.50 or 4 for $7.95). Saigon is one of my go-to local spots in Goleta for Pho. The prices are reasonable and service is always quick for dine in and to-go. The dining area is large so I've never had to wait for a table, even with a large group. When you order Pho, they bring a decent amount of bean sprouts, lime, basil, and sauces. The #9 Tai Rare Steak pho is my favorite whether it's a chilly night or I feel like I'm coming down with a cold. The meat is thinly sliced and tender. Conveniently located right across the street from our hotel, I stopped in to grab a quick lunch before a wedding that we were attending at the Four Seasons/ Biltmore hotel that afternoon. I was here 2 years ago and wasn't sure what to order, I asked the associate what was the best soup and she said everything. So kept it simple and ordered a chicken noodle soup. It's like the best Asian soup I can remember. I've tried other Pho locally but I can't recall any better than here. Today I was on my way back home and decided to just get something on the go while traveling so I bought some egg rolls. I have been to dozens of restaurants for Pho. This ranks pretty much at the bottom. Broth tasted as it should. Noodles were so over cooked, just sheer mush that I had to try with a spoon. I gave up. Very very bad service! Came with my husband and my 1.5 yo old son just 30 mons ago Ordered beef balls in beef soup without noodles and a side of rice for my son. After a few minutes Staff 1: Sorry, apparently no beef balls today. So, I have to cancel your order before ordering new one. Me: can I order the same item but with well done brisket please? I can pay more for the brisket. So, staff 1 charged me that. After a few minutes, I realized that the restaurant uses styrofoam for to go hot soup. Styrofoam is not meant to put hot soup and I don't want me little son to eat those chemicals in styrofoam. Me: sorry is it too late to change my order because I don't want styrofoam for my hot soup. Noodles are not good, broth is more chicken-y than beef-y and the beef is never what you want it to be. Service is good. It seems that they all must be downing shots of espresso in the back. While studying at UCSB from 2010-2013 my roommate and I dined at Saigon Noodle House numerous times and always enjoyed our experience. We were lucky to discover the grilled pork pho upon our first visit. We agreed it was the best pho around and ended up ordering it almost every week. We'd typically split a large and always leave satisfied. Nearly 10 years later and the grilled pork pho tastes just as I remember it. Absolutely delicious. It heard it was popular so I was happy when I saw it was almost empty. I was handed a menu and told that it is self seating (I like self seating places). Had a large Pho Dae Boet (#6 - Special Pho Special Combination hot beef noodle soup for a late lunch/early dinner this afternoon) for $9.95 The soup base is beef based and gas cilantro, onions and a special blend of Asian spices. The combination Pho meats and vegetable fixings included all five (5) cuts of beef. rare steak, well-done brisket, well-done flank, tendon, and tripe. The standard toppings and garnishes of bean sprouts, basil, sliced hot jalapeño peppers and a wedge of lime. A little Pho tip that I've always used when getting any well-done Pho meats is to immediately take all the cooked meats and place them on the fixings plate so that they don't get too tough because their already well-done s soon as they plate and serve it. The meat was thinly sliced and was well marbleized and with a little dip into the oyster souse and chill oil/Sriracha sauce that I also place on the garnish plate seasons the meat to taste .... I had to ask for extra fish sauce as I thought that the soup base lacked a little salt/savory flavors as the beef based base was a little too beefy flavoring for me and it definitely helped with the extra lime wedge that I had also asked for. Service was great, the Resturant eating areas were well kept and the tables were always immediately cleaned off once a patron had finished their meal. I finished the the meal with a iced glass of Ca Phe Sa Da which is a traditional style Vietnamese style Expresso served with sweeten condensed milk and freshly made with a French press. In summary .... the Pho was pretty good for the price, service was great and the curiousness of the wait staff was above average. I've heard some people say this is the best pho in the SB area, while others claim it's Phamous Cafe. The latter is correct. I came here on a Friday night with some friends and the restaurant was moderately filled. The service when ordering was quick. The options on the menu were your typical types of pho (there's even a shrimp one!), some dry vermicelli bowls and some rice plates. The prices were alright for SB. I ordered the pho with brisket and tripe. It was okay! Just okay. But that's all I can say. The noodles were kind of sour and way too soft. It was weird. I noticed our spoons were covered in greasy fat bits afterwards too...? The soup was alright but there was something missing. It didn't taste home-y or bone-y if that makes any sense. The service throughout declined. I asked for water a few times and they kept forgetting. One of the employees was somewhat rude. I couldn't tell if the place was authentically Vietnamese.
