My main entree was the garlic miso ramen. And while each component worked on its own, all of them put together made it seem less as a whole. My biggest issues were the chashu pork which came out a little overcooked. I know the reason, and probably shouldn't hold it against them, but it reminded me a bit of the overcooked pork of my childhood. The other issue was the broth. It was sweet on the backend, which really didn't do it for me the more I've thought about it. I'm not sure if it was the pork broth or the tare. My suspicion lies heavier towards the tare than the broth, but I could be wrong. Either way, I felt that such noticeable sweetness was out of place especially since it did too much to counter the garlic flavor. I suspect it was there to do that for those who don't like a heavy garlic flavor, but then again, if you don't like garlic flavor, you shouldn't be ordering something labeled as garlic on the menu. I will say that marinating the egg was a nice touch and gave it a depth of flavor that typically isn't there from other ramen places I've tried. Otherwise, it was good overall, it just felt like it didn't completely come together with the sweetness of the broth and the pork being a tad overcooked. Still, despite perhaps not looking like it, Zen Ramen was a solid little ramen shop on the East Side and I would not oppose going back to try some of their other ramen bowls. It might not blow your mind if you're a regular ramen connoisseur, but is still a solid spot if you want something affordable and unpretentious.

The dining space want just accommodating, but lovely, as well.

Wil never ever come to eat at this place again! There was a bug an huge fly found in my friend's bowl of pho and they laughed and giggled about it telling us was a fried garlic? YES! A piece of black fried garlic with a big head and eyes and feet! The moody waitresses that smiles at you one day and giving you the ugliest look in another day sincerely apologized that they could only take $2 off instead of apologizing for having the bug in the bowl assuming we're asking for free food! The check out ugly dumb woman kept telling me about the black fried garlic she thought we could be easily fooled by a fool like her and didn't want to stop laughing and giggling when I asked to stop and show some concerns or simply sincere apologize at least. I imagine other people would definitely sue them and being totally upset and we were just two nice people who wanted to get out of there peacefully and will never return. The biggest regret wasn't taking pictures to post on Facebook because the waitress grabbed the bowl right away when we showed her the bug! Someday I'm sure someone else will find something that will make them realize how bad to see the big bug in your bowl! We just hope we won't get sick from it but we're definitely sick of how they reacted and handled the issue. read more

Wanted to try this place today. Drove to it, parked, walked through the rain to get inside. There I waited 15 minutes at the "please wait to be seated sign". I was the 5th person waiting. No one EVER came to talk to us. NO ONE. A server looked our way a couple of times, but seemed to be intentionally ignoring the growing line as if she wanted us to just go away. So we did. There were plenty of open tables available, so that's not the problem. Maybe they can't find anyone to come work for them? I don't know, but what they are doing now is a great "go out of business" strategy. On a related note, with the place maybe 1/3rd occupied I counted 8 tables that were waiting for their food. That was the red flag that sent me out the door. 20-30 minutes to get seated, another 45 waiting for food preparation... no thanks. Don't waste your time at this place. read more

I think I've eaten here at least 20 times since they renovated. The food is consistently good. Dishes I usually order include the pho with tendon, tripe, and other goodies, the chicken wing appetizer, the fried roll appetizers, and the pate banh mi. Note: sandwiches are take out only. The banh mi is near perfect- crusty light baguette, a variety of sliced meats, tasty tasty pate with a lot of pickled veggies, smear of mayo (tastes like Kewpie), a bit of soy sauce, cilantro and jalapeños. Service is generally good and fast. Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant itself is clean and aesthetically pleasing in a minimalistic way. I would say their pho is not the best I've ever had but it is very good and reliably so. The best pho I've had was probably in San Jose or Virginia (seven corners). read more

When I think about celebration, this restaurant always comes to my mind. The location of this restaurant is accessible and apparent for everyone. The interior design of this restaurant, including the decoration, color schemes, textures, and furnishing, is beautiful in the guest's eyes. This is the best restaurant in the west and central region. The food is always of high quality and fantastic and whatever you order you will be delighted with the dish. I came here two times because I thought it would be better than the last visit, but that mindset was not so good. The pho was def not pleasing and I had to stand there with my sister like lost child for about two minutes. The waitress did not write down what my order was and when I asked her if she could remember my order, of course she said yes, but in the end I never got the appetizer and to go order that I had asked for.
