Another local gem discovered....I have passed this place a few times and never gave it much thought....I decided to just try yesterday because others had made great reviews. I figured the fried rice and salt and pepper wings would be a good place to start...figured I had worked hard that week and topped it off with a fresh squeezed lemonade.... Estimated wait time was short...maybe 15 min...I thought to myself that's pretty good. I arrived in 20 min and my food was there ready to be picked up...unfortunately I also ordered and extra drink...a half and half (blame it on my quick fingers I guess)....I drove home but decided to try the half and half in the car...few sips and I looked to see what happened.......straight fire, no self control lol....expensive but well worth it...very refreshing...I hate to type it...but I believe they have chic fil a beat.. Wings were decent a solid 7.8 out of 10....but it was the beef fried rice that impressed me....it actually tasted fresh...I might have found my new local go-to....I believe they specialize in Vietnamese food but I'll have to explore the menu a little more to give you the ins and outs...when it comes to quick and efficient but fresh...I'm willing to certainly try them again.... read more

After seeing reviews for Saigon Palace, I thought that their Phó would be a great deal better than bland and boring - yet that is what it was. There really wasn't much to it for flavor, but was certainly filled with plenty of noodles - anyone can do that. There are many Phó choices on the menu, and that's always nice. However out of all the combinations of protein, I chose the seafood combination. It is pricier than the usual beef, tripe et al, which I wouldn't have minded, IF the dish itself was commensurate with the additional price. Instead, hugely disappointingly, the large bowl (seafood Phó doesn't have a "small" selection as do all the others) had ONLY 2 shrimp, 1 piece of squid, and 1 muscle, and 1 tiny scallop (yet I only spotted that because I was looking) amongst the bland broth and lots and lots of noodles. Someone has noted on the cover page of at least one site that Saigon Palace is the best Phó in the area, yet I am hoping that is not so. Unless the bar has been lowered so far, I am hoping there must be better Phó out there. read more

We ordered a plethora of items. Thing only thing I wish is they needed to put more noodles and meat in the bun bo hue. They are very stingy with meat and noodles. Alot of broth but no lemongrass flavor whatsoever ... the grilled pork bahn mi was great. The bread is fresh flavor of grilled pork was also tasty! we also ordered salt n pepper chicken wings those were great too. Maybe cooked longer for more crunch but overall it was good. service can be very slow. Took a while for our items to come out .. They prioritize take out vs customers seating inside. We witnessed someone ordering and they go their food first before we did and we've already been waiting 30 min. Overall . we might come back. but we definitely have other pho places that give a bit more meat and noodles especially since they are priced fairly high . read more

I was happy to find this place on Yelp. I love a good vermicelli bowl and this one was very good. It's a nice restaurant with lots of seating, clean restroom (women's) and friendly host/server. I also had a freak-squeezed lemonade that was very nice. I will definitely be back to explore the menus - lots of variety! I am gluten-free by choice and although there is no GF designations on the menu, I noticed they often describe the dish stating "rice noodle" or "flour" wrapper" that is helpful. read more

So the place is run of the mill as far as interior furnishings, it appears to be a 2 person operation with a slower than crap guy out front and a pretty quick guy in the back. Either one of them had any kind of personality, no help, good bye, or even a thank you. The place smells nice but almost overbearingly clean. As far as the Pho and spring rolls are concerned. The spring rolls were nice and crisp and lava hot. But are the smallest spring rolls I have ever eaten. 2.5/5. The Pho was pleasantly fragrant with just the right amount of spices and temperature. The side of sprouts, peppers and basil was on the small size, but it will do. The broth was fine but, the lack of meat was disturbing. The The price is a few dollars more than other local pho places, but it is a local favorite so that make it worth it I guess. definitely Definitely a good place but not the best in my opinion in the Annapolis area. We have been regular patrons of this place and have enjoyed the food but after today we will not be going back. Lunch today was rather a big deal-it was before my husband was beginning a medical fast and he got to choose the destination for his "last meal." Of all of the good choices here, he decided on Saigon where he loves the Shaking Beef. So, bottom line, my food came out and we assumed his dish was just taking longer. By the time we realized something was wrong and got the waiter's attention it was too late to fix. The waiter had not put the order in. And then to add insult to injury, he began making excuses to try to turn it around on us since I had ordered a sandwich and a pho. But I watched him write the Shaking Beef on his notebook and he went straight from our table to the computer. How this could have been missed is beyond me. But even that would not keep us from going back again in future. The deal breaker was that there was zero compensation. To say you are sorry is easy. A quality place puts their money where their mouth is: "lunch is on us today" or "let us give you a coupon for your next vist.: nada... We don't patrolize places that treat their customers so cavalierly... read more

Came here yesterday because I was craving Pho and boy was my craving met happily :) I got the small pho with rare steak and well done flank which is actually enough to make two servings so I split my soup and had the rare steak in it last night and having the flank today for my lunch. If I didn't have sriracha at home already I would recommend asking for a side of sriracha if you like some spice since not much at all is added into the hoisin sauce. My husband was at work and Vietnamese food is not his favorite of the Asian cuisine (but he just prefers ramen over pho) so I decided I'd try to order him an entree that he would like with fingers crossed if he likes it that I could pho more often.... Apparently I picked really well getting him the combination grilled meat over rice which I tried some as well and it is really good! It comes with grilled beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp over rice with a spring roll, 2 containers of fish sauce (use some for roll and then pour rest over meat and rice... so good) and some pickled carrots. Also this is a good amount of food so it's good if you're wanting leftovers, super hungry and can eat a lot, or splitting. Lastly since I was giving into my cravings I finally got a boba tea from them as I normally just get food and no drink. If you do get a boba tea I highly, highly recommend getting taro and coconut mixed. It is my absolute favorite flavor combo for drinks. For the main, we tried the Vietnamese beef stew, and it was so tasty with tender beef in a rich, savory broth. We also had the spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup, and it had the perfect kick. Another 1 star for this place, only this one is for service and not the food. I can't upgrade the food from the 1 star I gave it when we were there on a Sunday, because my order never arrived. We went there because my wife loves the Vietnamese beef stew, which she ordered along with a bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the shaking beef. The stew came and a little while later her sandwich arrived. I commented that I liked the fact that the food came me out when ready rather than sitting waiting for the complete order. But time passed, take-out orders were picked up, and another couple who came in after us were served. Still no shaking beef, and when questioned, the waiter/owner said "oh the shaking beef" and then went on to say he'd thought the stew and sandwich for both of us. Really? If you are going to lie, then don't acknowledge that you knew about the shaking beef. If he'd just said, "oh, I didn't put that in, I'm sorry, I wouldn't have been so angry. Own up and we'll move on, but lie and you won't see me again. Given that I had no lunch -- which upset my wife more than me -- they could at least have comped her lunch or discounted it, but they didn't. Like I said, that's it for me. read more

When you enter it's your typical Asian style restaurant kind of outdated but a very homey atmosphere. The waitress who is unorthodox to say the least sat me and my father in a booth. She handed us menus and boy was it full of choices. I chose the seafood pad thai and my father pork w/mix vegetable and we both got an appetizer of steamed wontons. They were both home runs. My pad thai was very flavorful and lots of seafood of mussels, shrimp, scallops and squid what you hoped for and the noodles were cooked just right. My Father's pork with mix vegetable was juicy with tons of flavor as well. I'd definitely go back in a heart beat. If you're looking for a good Friday, Saturday or Sunday night meal go or get takeout you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm very upset to write this because we initially enjoyed Saigon Palace. It's very disappointing that the owner changes the prices from order to order as he pleases. One day we are charged $8 for Banh Mi, the next time someone else rings us up and it's $6.99 as menu states then go back and owner charges the to go order for $9 for my friend. Charge the prices that your menu states and stop trying to get over on people that are supporting your restaurant. From one restaurant owner to another, take my advice or You won't have customer left if you continue to run a business unethically. read more

Very authentic Vietnamese food at this restaurant. Unfortunately the experience can be a miss at times. The facility is a bit dated but is kept reasonably clean and in good repair. Service is usually quick, but not always the friendliest or most helpful. Depends who you get. Sometimes an older gentleman is there working, maybe the owner, and he always tries to ensure you have a good meal. Food itself is usually quite good. Portions are average. Ingredients are authentic though, and dishes are not overly sweet like at some other places. I really enjoy their Banh Mi sandwiches. Unfortunately they once served my sandwich with cold bread, no attempt to warm it up or crisp it whatsoever. I might have given them 4 stars if not for that, but cold bread is a pet peeve for me. Still, I recommend giving this place a try as the food does stand above that at many similar establishments in the area. Just demand they make everything right if it isn't, because they are certainly capable of it. read more

I came back today to get their Pho soup. So darn good!!!! It's the only place that is near me in Churchton that I know of! The staff is so kind /friendly. While I was waiting for my order, a call came in, a woman had placed an order 5 days ago and it didn't taste right and she was waiting on a refund. The manager explained to her that he put it through and it takes time to process (like most all returns do, up to 7 business days, who doesn't known that). The manager was apologizing saying that if she doesn't get the refund to her account in the next couple days that he will refund her the cash personally, and he also told her she can come in and get another order. Well that's started her to get more upset (I could tell from the conversation) her telling {{{yelling}}} that she doesn't want another other she wants a refund. {{{I heard you too}}} if she would have put aside all her anger and anxiety and listened to his words she would have heard him say he would refund her and make her another order (another one as in; also or this case; free). It didn't sound like she was accepting any of his responses. I guess she wanted the money wired through her telephone as they were speaking. After the call the manager got right on the phone to whoever it is that processes the refunds. 5 stars! read more

Food was good. Service was okay. The host was asleep at the desk, literally. He woke up when we walked up, didn't say anything, and the server told us to sit anywhere. Host fell back asleep and was snoring pretty loudly for the majority of our time there. We got our food pretty quickly, so can't complain there. Service- i walked in and no one was by the cashier and I'm not sure if they saw me but I walked towards the back to try and get someone but no one came out to help me for like 5 minutes. Once he came out, he was super nice but I did not like how I had to wait not knowing if someone was coming to help me or not. Grilled Pork Vermicelli- super good. The grilled beef was cooked perfectly and the veggies tasted really fresh. The food was good. I am something of a Pho connoisseur. My spouse and I have had Pho all over the USA. Whenever we travel, whenever we are cold and wet or just even chilly and dry, we love Pho. That beautiful bowl of soup always satisfies me. So, we were both happy when my niece suggested a Vietnamese dinner at Saigon Palace Restaurant in Edgewater. She said it was a great place. We agree! We both ordered #50, Pho with rare steak. The steak was nice and rare when the steaming bowl of soup was delivered. It quickly cooked in the delicious hot broth. There were LOTS of noodles in there, LOTS of onions (both green and regular white onions). But what has me swooning is the broth - rich, salty (but not too salty), beautifully seasoned with aromatic spices. Even the jalapenos were fantastic - not little slices like you usually get; Saigon Palace serves large chunks of seed-free jalapenos. Bottom line - Saigon Palace does a fantastic Pho. I asked for extra basil and they were quick to accommodate me with a plate piled high with freshly washed basil. In fact, when I was done putting all that basil in my bowl, my niece said my Pho looked like a salad. Really, I think this Pho is one of 2 BEST Pho's I have ever had. The beauty and complexity of the robust broth is the key to this winning dish! Also good were the summer rolls - filled to the brink with ingredients that almost burst the wrappers. The service was quite good. They were attentive without being too distracting. The drinks, the food, the desserts were all brought out very quickly. The host (who is probably the owner) was friendly and inviting to everyone who entered after us too. Saigon Palace seems like a family run restaurant that is definitely worth a visit! Despite its unassuming exterior in a small strip mall in the outskirts of Edgewater MD, the substance of this place - the service and the food - are very impressive. The food here was OK but it wasn't really great and it wasn't all Vietnamese they were foods from Thailand and China everywhere else. I guess they have to just accommodate everybody I don't know. The bird nest with seafood was really good and if I went back that's what I would order. So I would not recommend it but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. read more

YUMMY! This little Vietnamese restaurant is tucked away in a small unassuming strip mall on Mayo Rd in Edgewater MD. Super easy to miss. (It's directly across the road from Edgewater Fitness!). I decided to stop in & grab a Banh Mi for a late lunch! When I walked in, the gentleman quickly greeted me & told me to sit anywhere. He quickly brought me a menu & a large glass of ice water with lemon (HUGE POINTS that he did that automatically!) I sat down & looked over the menu but decided to go for the Banh Mi. It was quite hot out & I didn't feel like Pho or a hot stir fry dish. They had about 6 different kinds of Banh Mi to choose from which was wonderful. I decided to go for the grilled pork sandwich. (The combination Banh Mi is enticing but I don't think I could handle Pork belly, head cheese & pork cake in one sandwich). I also ordered the Salt & Pepper chicken wings. (They were highly recommended by previous Yelp diners!). The Banh Mi was delicious. The toasted baguette as slightly crispy on the outside & had a soft chewy interior. It was a 6" baguette & had plenty of grilled pork. Marinated shredded carps, & daikon, cucumber, jalapeño & cilantro. It was perfectly proportioned. I loved it & would definitely order it again. The S&P chicken wings were good but there wasn't any S&P on them at all. Additionally, they didn't sauté any jalapeños or spring onion with them which made them basic chicken wings. They were fried to perfection but had no flavor. They did include a sweet hot habanero honey sauce in a small ramekin which was very good. They also included finely diced raw jalapeño with the lettuce garnish but it didn't add any real flavor. So I was really disappointed though the Salt & Pepper was missing bc it adds a really nice dynamic to the flavor. The inside is nicely appointed. There were probably 16 tables including 10 tables of booth seating. The interior has the the typical Asian lacquer decor. There was Asian artwork & memorabilia throughout. it was quiet. They did have several flat screen TVs playing the local NFL football game which was nice. The interior & bathrooms were clean. I am interested in trying some of the multitude of other menu selections! I am sure they will be equally as good! DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED! read more

The name conjured up great foods and extensive menu. Google reviews gave this place high ratings. So in I went for my favorite food - pho. The food came out super quick. Broth had tiny bubbles floating on top. Not a good sign, if you look for freshness. The broth was salty but not overbearing. Toppings were generous and tasty. What was disappointing was the broth. It tasted like 50% pho and 50% hu tieu, which is another noodle soup, dish. By the time I finished eating my bowl, I really thought I was not eating pho. I also felt like my hands became a bit puffy an hour or so later. Now, here is what I wish that businesses would avoid - expressing unsolicited political views. The restaurant had a sign informing customers of price increases. Another customer asked the manager about it and he said inflation has made many things more expensive. The customer wondered out loud what is causing inflation and the manager's response was "Ask Biden." This unexpected response didn't change my opinion of the food but it did remind me of the older generation of Vietnamese who are as far right as one can get.
