Hong Kong Express is my go to and has been consistently great over the years. We usually get the hunan chicken/shrimp, shrimp fried rice, dumplings, wonton soup, hot and sour soup, and egg rolls and they are all prepared perfectly. The food is great rather you eat in or take out. Food comes out quick either way too but doesn't lack in quality. Would recommend. read more

Very disappointing. We ordered Dumplings (fried), Kung Pao Chicken, and Beef w/garlic sauce... what we got was more like Kung Pao Celery and Celery w/garlic sauce. At least 2/3 of the dinners were comprised of celery. The slight positives were the dumplings, of which there were a lot (8) and they were tasty even if slightly underdone. The sauces did have decent flavor, but the egregious overuse of cheap veggies as filler will prevent us from trying this place a 2nd time. read more

I was in the area about 2 months ago and saw this carry out, where I live in Churchton they don't have a descent place, the place around the corner is hit or miss and last time was the last time there for me. I didn't know anything about this place at all. When I got home, Omgosh!!! Crispy beef was awesome, can't remember what else I ordered but it was all good. So I was in the area (right now) writing from my car and although three is vegetable soup cooking at home, I am being home some crispy beef! Wow, this place is great! My girlfriend and I are definitely coming back every weekend. We are vegan, so we eat tofu, but they crisp it perfectly and cover in general tso sauce. This is the best chinese food I've had since moving to AA County 1 year ago. We got general tsos, sweet and sour chicken, chicken lo mein, won ton soup and fries. Everything was delicious. I gave them 4 stars and not 5 because they didn't put the ketchup on the fries but they provide the Hunts ketchup so its all good. Reasonably priced - not a whole lot of competition in this market for Chinese. Lunch specials is what I usually got - Gen Tso's chicken and spicy shrimp disk in an red sauce. There's not much in the way of Chinese in AA Or Edgewater. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty. I only regret they typically close about 9:00pm during the week. Weekends a lit later. But the service is alway fast. read more

After my bad experience at Hong buffet I wanted too try a new place. I cant eat much right now so I tried the steamed dumplings a lot. Everything is fresh u can see them cooking it. I would highly recommend it. I have became a regular now. Every Saturday I get 2 orders of steamed dumplings to have for a couple of meals. My mom lovesss the Wong tong soup so I have to get her one. Tucked away in a new shopping center between a GNC and an orchid nail salon, this is my go-to when visiting my parents who live near that area. It reminds me of the old Hunan Express in Gambrills before it changed owners in 2007, the food was as if they took the original chefs of Hunan Express and their recipes and placed them at Hong Kong Express..which were amazing and also has dishes that are Mandarin, Hunan and Szechuan. This area is finally expanding out of steakhouses and fast food choices and adding coffee bars, places like Stan & Joes and different sandwich and asian/mexican restaurants The menu has everything from "Pancit"/ Chow foon, Yat Gai Mein, a long list of specials, soups and a eclectic selection of other items that you don't regularly see on every other menu you browse through at strip mall places in suburbia. They even have lobster egg foo young! This is a dine in and carry out business, the dining room could easily fit 35-40 people has TVs for all the sports games, is casual and it's clean and the staff is really polite and service is fast! (20 minutes on a weekend is great!) and they are always busy when I walk in (which is a great thing, for a restaurant) The only minus is no delivery service and sorry no sushi but, plenty of places to go in the area for that I would definitely recommend this place for locals who have gone to that buffet place down the road..you need a change..change is good read more

I avoided this place because I thought it was like those pseudo Chinese places in food courts that serve things like bourbon chicken. When I walked by the place they had menus placed outside the door so I picked one up. I realized then, that this place was more like a Hunan House in Parole with just as long of a menu but a much smaller storefront. It never fails to amuse me when I read a review that goes as follows "the food was excellent, probably the best General Tso's I have ever had". Well I never eat the general - not ragging on those that like it, it's just not my cup of tea. So I decided to go with an order of vegetable spring rolls and one of the Chef's specials "hot crispy beef". Description was "shredded beef cooked with carrot and spring onion in chef's special sesame sauce." Now I know key words in this cuisine like "crispy" usually mean deep fried, but I was hoping I was wrong. The hefty serving was not drowning in sauce and was comprised mostly of beef with only slivers of carrot and onion Hmm, potential? Yeah well that went out the window on the first bite. All I tasted was sweet. Cloyingly sweet. Heat? None. There was some sort of coating on the beef as well, and it did not taste like it was made minutes before. No amount of sriracha sauce or Chinese mustard could take away the candy like coating resonating on my tongue. The spring rolls, poor things, looked like skin that had never seen daylight. The food is pretty good, but I won't go back because of the attitude of the service. Always at Chinese restaurants I have to ask if the egg rolls have shrimp in them because I have a serious shrimp allergy. And - at every place I've been to up until this one, the server has been very understanding about it and have substituted an equal priced item (or I paid the difference). I wanted to substitute the vegetarian spring rolls for the egg rolls, and pay the difference, but she insisted that I would have to order the spring rolls separately and pay full price for them in addition to the combo meal (which included an egg roll). She said the egg rolls have beef and shrimp in them. So - if you are a vegetarian you'll run into the same issue here as I did. If they had more of a customer-focus and less attitude, I'd be a regular customer. read more
