This is my roommates favorite place for egg rolls. He was craving them so we went. There were any 2 other tables. Though the decor is dated the egg rolls are amazing. They came out pipping hot and crispy. Even though driving to Uptown on a Friday night is a pain it's well worth it to me for these delicious treats.

Wonton egg noodle soup. I didn't put the noodles/bean sprouts in yet. Appetizer combo in the small bag.

We wanted to try something in our neighborhood. Parking was simple and we ordered our food online with ease. We ordered the wonton egg noodle soup and bun/vermicelli noodles with stir fried pork. Plus we got the appetizer combo. I liked my soup, and would get it again. So filling and it had fresh simple ingredients. I don't care for soap aka cilantro, but I really enjoyed the soup. It was not over powered by that taste. It had more taste from the broth. The noodles we're so soft in both our dishes that we couldn't really use chopsticks. We got it to go and they know exactly how to package pho. And the order was done when they said it was when we got there. The chicken wings seemed to not be fried hard enough to me. They were cooked and good, but not a crunchy coating. The cheese puffs got the chickens extra crunch. And the egg rolls were good. Dipping sauces were good with the food.

I'd maybe call this a hidden gem of Uptown/LynLake? I don't hear much about Saigon and have never visited until now! When you walk in, the first thing you'll notice is how much space there is and how clean it is! They are currently only open for takeout but post-covid I can imagine this place will be full of life, they've got huge booths and tables perfect for groups! Also spotted a coatrack aka Minnesota essential. I was greeted by a very kind gentlemen who gave me a few minutes to look at the menu. After deciding everything looked too good to decide, I just asked him what he recommended which was the Hot & Spicy Lemongrass Chicken. I ordered this mild, cream cheese wontons, and a crispy coconut roll. He told me it would only be about 10 minutes and it was! The grand total for 3 items was only $13!!! What a fantastic price! The entrée came packed with white rice separately. The lemongrass chicken was truly mild for my lame low spice tolerance, but packed huge flavor! The chicken was cooked with some sauteed onions and I can see why he recommended it! The cream cheese wontons came with a ton of wontons, maybe 7, and they were all HUGE! Seriously the biggest cream cheese wontons I've ever gotten at a restaurant. These came with the classic red sauce as well. The wontons were not as crispy I've had in the past but they also weren't as oily so I think I prefer it this way! They're also cream cheese wontons so you can't go wrong. Lastly, I got a crispy coconut roll which they had in a jar by the register. I've never really seen this at a restaurant but for $1 it was a no brainer! It was light, airy, yet crispy! There's a strong coconut flavor and it's not too sweet! I can't wait to try more menu items from Saigon!

Wonton noodle soup $20 Egg rolls : $7 Not the restaurants fault but I ordered through Grubhub and half of my soup had spilled out. However, $20 for wonton soup is really overpriced and the taste was off. Just a disappointing take out experience and disappointing food.

Don't be fooled by first sight when walking in. The ambience, decor, dark lighting and actual menu book made me feel uneasy (and let me point out the at there was one other set of guest and it was 9pm). Minus one point for this (which in my opinion seems so unfair) BUT YOOOOO....... The food was DE-LI-CIOS. I was apprehensive at first looking at the menu as I only came in looking for authentic Vietnamese food. I was not disappointed; actually quite impressed. I had both the vegetable egg rolls and pork egg rolls- the pork were my favorite. I also had the BBQ pork with vermicelli noodles- FRICKEN YUMMO. I also ordered the sesame chicken- delicious and beautifully prepared. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff! This time 5 Starr's for the food in my opinion.

Bbq pork vermicelli salad has been our favorite since 1980. Well my parents favorite and it turned into ours. Saigon is so delicious it's definitely a best kept secret. I have never had egg rolls that compare to them. Try them out!

The person who waited on me was friendly and prompt as best possible with closing duties on consideration, didn't realize when I say down it was close to closing time. Really enjoyed that the food was very hot and fresh but was disappointed that it wasn't what I expected. Ordered the pad Thai with chicken, usually just noodles, eggs, carrots, bean sprouts, and peanut topping. This noodle dish tasted like pad Thai but was far from it, it had broccoli, celery, cabbage, and the traditional veggies. I also had the muckdock spring rolls, very fresh and tasty!

We used to go when they were across the street in the small space. To me this is the OG Vietnamese place to recommend when people ask where to get great Vietnamese food. Food is always good and service is great. It has been a long time since I've been here and I'm glad to see they still have a lot of options available, even weekend specials. I had to taste the banh cuon since that is a weekend specials and not easily found in restaurants. It did not disappoint. The nuoc mam was perfect. Filling was good but I wish there were more fresh herbs for garnish. Bun Bo hue was filled with meat and protein!! I can't believe how much was in there. I normally don't like a ton of meat but this was so tender I ate it all. Pho was good. Broth had a strong star anise flavor but I like that. The mi hoanh ton soup was good but not the best. The wontons were huge! I appreciate the amount of protein in it. Cream cheese wontons flavor was good, wish there was more than 4 pieces per order though. Nem nuong serving size was pretty small. Wish we would've ordered the nem nuong spring rolls instead. Bubble tea tasted like strawberry milk, very sweet. Not my favorite but my daughter gave it 10/10. Salmon rice was good, we were able to add eggs for $4. The chili oil is very hot so be careful how much you add. 4% discount if you pay in cash. Gratuity added for parties of 5 or more. Easy to grab to go at the front if you are in a rush. We grabbed more to go after we ate too. The tri color dessert was ok, not my favorite but I liked the sweetness of the coconut milk in there. We grabbed a banh mi that was ready to go and that was good! Bread was crispy, but maybe too much bread ratio to filling. Banh bao was massive too, expensive for $8.

Buon Bo Hue was spicy, had a good amount of meat. Pho broth was flavorful and passed for good pho. I hated the bowl, it is so narrow and you can barely fit any additional toppings. Nem Nuong was underwhelming, a lot smaller than expected. Banh Cuon is a weekend special. They were pretty thick and didn't absorb much of the sauce but had a good balance of filling and toppings. There was an automatic tip for a party of 5 and you save 4% if you pay in cash

My Huong is an 8-top hole in the wall across the parking lot from the rear of El Nuevo Mariachi Restaurant. The place is homely, small, but brightly lit and plenty of day light through the picture windows overlooking Eat Street. It's a big contrast to Pho 79 type places that are dim and short on ambience. The clientele shows. Instead of just a bunch of Asians throwing down Pho, it's a mix like you'd see at Quang or Eat Street Crossing. I was seated right away, was greeted by a cheery Vietnamese lady, and ordered Hu Tieu Bo Khu (Beef Stew Noodle Soup.) It was a dish I haven't seen before even though I have been to so many Vietnamese places (see my other reviews and lists.) The dish came very quickly, and I was shocked that they didn't bring it with a veggie plate. Oh well. Well the best way I could describe Hu Tieu Bo Khu, its basically a pot roast over noodles. So the beefy broth like a less spicey version of Bun Bo Hue, with flavors of lemongrass and star anise, nicely garnished already with what would have been on a veggie plate. The broth was delicious, slightly sweet with the carrots, and the beef was fall apart amazingly stewed with deep flavor. There were other menu items like Curry Chicken pho and a Stewed chicken rice dish I'd have to return and try!

The Egg Roll has been consistently good, crispy, and flavorful. No complaints there. This time I decide to try the cream cheese wontons. Very crispy, tasty, but a little low on filling. One major downside is they didn't serve it we that sweet sauce. They gave ample duck sauce packets, but I just ended up using the sweet and sour sauce that I have from Trader Joes. The wings were a disappointment. They're cooked hard, actually too hard. The skin was tight, the meat a bit dry, and the flavor bland. Cozy Hmong-American restaurant with French-influenced pastries? Count me in! I literally updated my destination to this restaurant while in the uber and decided to grab a bit of food before heading to my hotel. I had no reservation, but arriving a little after 1 pm on a Monday had no wait for a bar seat. It's such a cozy, homey restaurant with light wood, light brick, natural light, few plants inside and a very casual patio with picnic tables outside. I could see this place being a tough reservation during peak times. I hadn't eaten all day and was extremely hungry. I opted for the king crab omelette with red curry beurre blanc. I got a side of sticky rice to make it slightly heartier since I was so hungry and got some pastries to go, since I was in a bit of a time crunch to make it to my hotel and take some work calls. Service was incredibly friendly and fast. My server really did Minneapolis proud, chatted with me about my trip, gave me other great goodie recommendations to fill out my dining for the week, and overall really made the visit special. The crab omelette was unreal. Simultaneously fresh, light, but with a hint of kick and richness from the red curry beurre blanc. Excellent flavor combo. I got the crab Rangoon danish and the coconut pandas croissant to go and ate them for breakfast the next day and they were still so light and fresh with unreal flavor combos. The pandan was my favorite and I tend to be a savory over sweet pastry girl. This place is deserving of all of its hype and more. I honestly really wanted to go back and asked if I could try to sneak in a reservation to come again for later in the week, but sadly they are when I was free the rest of the time I was in town.
