This is my roommates favorite place for egg rolls. He was craving them so we went. There were any 2 other tables. Though the decor is dated the egg rolls are amazing. They came out pipping hot and crispy. Even though driving to Uptown on a Friday night is a pain it's well worth it to me for these delicious treats.

Wonton egg noodle soup. I didn't put the noodles/bean sprouts in yet. Appetizer combo in the small bag.

We wanted to try something in our neighborhood. Parking was simple and we ordered our food online with ease. We ordered the wonton egg noodle soup and bun/vermicelli noodles with stir fried pork. Plus we got the appetizer combo. I liked my soup, and would get it again. So filling and it had fresh simple ingredients. I don't care for soap aka cilantro, but I really enjoyed the soup. It was not over powered by that taste. It had more taste from the broth. The noodles we're so soft in both our dishes that we couldn't really use chopsticks. We got it to go and they know exactly how to package pho. And the order was done when they said it was when we got there. The chicken wings seemed to not be fried hard enough to me. They were cooked and good, but not a crunchy coating. The cheese puffs got the chickens extra crunch. And the egg rolls were good. Dipping sauces were good with the food.

I'd maybe call this a hidden gem of Uptown/LynLake? I don't hear much about Saigon and have never visited until now! When you walk in, the first thing you'll notice is how much space there is and how clean it is! They are currently only open for takeout but post-covid I can imagine this place will be full of life, they've got huge booths and tables perfect for groups! Also spotted a coatrack aka Minnesota essential. I was greeted by a very kind gentlemen who gave me a few minutes to look at the menu. After deciding everything looked too good to decide, I just asked him what he recommended which was the Hot & Spicy Lemongrass Chicken. I ordered this mild, cream cheese wontons, and a crispy coconut roll. He told me it would only be about 10 minutes and it was! The grand total for 3 items was only $13!!! What a fantastic price! The entrée came packed with white rice separately. The lemongrass chicken was truly mild for my lame low spice tolerance, but packed huge flavor! The chicken was cooked with some sauteed onions and I can see why he recommended it! The cream cheese wontons came with a ton of wontons, maybe 7, and they were all HUGE! Seriously the biggest cream cheese wontons I've ever gotten at a restaurant. These came with the classic red sauce as well. The wontons were not as crispy I've had in the past but they also weren't as oily so I think I prefer it this way! They're also cream cheese wontons so you can't go wrong. Lastly, I got a crispy coconut roll which they had in a jar by the register. I've never really seen this at a restaurant but for $1 it was a no brainer! It was light, airy, yet crispy! There's a strong coconut flavor and it's not too sweet! I can't wait to try more menu items from Saigon!

Wonton noodle soup $20 Egg rolls : $7 Not the restaurants fault but I ordered through Grubhub and half of my soup had spilled out. However, $20 for wonton soup is really overpriced and the taste was off. Just a disappointing take out experience and disappointing food.

Don't be fooled by first sight when walking in. The ambience, decor, dark lighting and actual menu book made me feel uneasy (and let me point out the at there was one other set of guest and it was 9pm). Minus one point for this (which in my opinion seems so unfair) BUT YOOOOO....... The food was DE-LI-CIOS. I was apprehensive at first looking at the menu as I only came in looking for authentic Vietnamese food. I was not disappointed; actually quite impressed. I had both the vegetable egg rolls and pork egg rolls- the pork were my favorite. I also had the BBQ pork with vermicelli noodles- FRICKEN YUMMO. I also ordered the sesame chicken- delicious and beautifully prepared. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff! This time 5 Starr's for the food in my opinion.

Bbq pork vermicelli salad has been our favorite since 1980. Well my parents favorite and it turned into ours. Saigon is so delicious it's definitely a best kept secret. I have never had egg rolls that compare to them. Try them out!

The person who waited on me was friendly and prompt as best possible with closing duties on consideration, didn't realize when I say down it was close to closing time. Really enjoyed that the food was very hot and fresh but was disappointed that it wasn't what I expected. Ordered the pad Thai with chicken, usually just noodles, eggs, carrots, bean sprouts, and peanut topping. This noodle dish tasted like pad Thai but was far from it, it had broccoli, celery, cabbage, and the traditional veggies. I also had the muckdock spring rolls, very fresh and tasty!

house special and the broccoli beef with mushrooms my favorite

In…read morere-reading my reviews, I stand by everything I've said about the excellent consistent quality of the food, the service, and how much I enjoy coming to this restaurant. I truly hope they are around longer than I am. I would hate to find out this was one of the choices no longer available to us. Please read my previous reviews for a more inclusive view; this review focuses only on their lobster. I had previously mentioned that they prices of their lobsters (I love the version with black bean sauce) have gone up tremendously. While true, there seems to have been a subtle change in their pricing strategy. Previously (as of before the pandemic), the lobster was priced by the pound, which is the conventional way of doing it. However, they seem to have two lobster prices. The first one is called "Big Lobster" and they say it's between 2 and 2 and half pounds per lobster. The price of that (as of this review) is $56 dollars, or $28 per pound. That's not really a bad price at all. It's expensive, but reasonable. The other lobster is called "Live Lobster" and is priced $10 less at $46. So the real question is how much does this second version weigh? I ordered the Big Lobster, but they said they were out of it. I asked the weight of the "Live Lobster" but I didn't really get a straight answer, but he seemed to say "about two pounds" which doesn't really make sense because that's the price of the larger, more expensive lobster. But I decided to go for it anyway. As I stated in my last review, I'm guessing this lobster is at least two pounds, based on many years of eating lobster. For this review, I had ChatGPT translate the the Chinese on the menu, thinking it was secret code for "if you can read Chinese, save ten dollars by ordering this version" but AI says the Chinese means "lobster" so if you spoke Chinese, you'd still be mystified. So my recommendation is order the version that is ten dollars cheaper and you may (or may not) be paying $23 a pound. Price aside, I love this version of lobster and it is certainly a better deal than what you would pay at an American style seafood or steak restaurant in the Twin Cities.

It was nice visiting and enjoying some of our previously go-to dishes. The soft shell crab made with golden garlic style was as delicious as I remembered, although at a much higher price now ($44+) for the dish. The mapo tofu and eggplant dishes that we ordered ended up being very similar in taste/sauce/seasoning but still pretty good. The service was pretty fast and the staff was friendly.

In true family-style fashion we got plenty of dishes to share: some appetizers and some "main dishes" as well. The Xiao long bao and beef burrito are great starters. Both great portion sizes for main dishes with plenty to take home if needed. The restaurant is large and spacious nestled in a strip mall, and the service was fantastic. We ordered a the fried dumplings and the sesame balls. Both were absolutely delectable, best of each I've had in my life. The sesame balls had a crispy sesame coated exterior with a sticky bun interior and sweet bean filling. The fried dumplings were perfectly cooked to delicate perfection and were accompanied by a soy sauce with freshly minced garlic. Those didn't last 2 minutes on the table. We ordered the twice cooked pork and stirfry lamb as entrees and, as other reviews have said, the portions were generous. As for the the meats, they were thinly sliced, tender, and cooked to perfection. The spice level was right on point, not enough to numb your tastebuds but surly will leave you with clear sinuses. The spice contributed significantly to the succulent flavors found in each dish. Each entree comes with a bowl of buttery white rice. As a man of high caloric intake I was very satisfied with this establishment's CPD factor. As a genuine touch, there is heartfelt apology for rising prices due to rising ingredient cost and bird flu found at the bottom of each menu. 10/10 will eat again.

I ordered the Stir Fry Spicy Beef, Mapo Tofu, and the Pork Belly. Everything was tasty and have no complaints as far as the actual flavors. I do think that the Mapo Tofu should always be soft tofu rather than firm, but that's just a personal preference. The beef was plentiful and extra tender and the pork belly was perfectly melt-in-your-mouth, so good that I felt like I had to ration it throughout the next few meals. I do wish it came with more rice. I ordered three sides and only got one box of rice. I was hoping to have at least two so I can eat it for several days. However, to end on a positive note, when I walked in to pick up my order, the woman (owner possibly) was incredibly friendly and spoke Mandarin to me. She was welcoming, funny, and we briefly argued how spicy food should really be for it to be enjoyable. "The spicier the better," me thinks. Come show these guys some love!

There is a small parking lot in back, but you have to walk around the building to get to the door. I would say it is not handicapped friendly. If you park in back it would be hard to get to the door unless you are able to make it half way around the block. If you park in front it is just street parking. My dad uses a walker and we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front of the restaurant, anything else would have been a problem. Spacing inside the restaurant is pretty tight as well.
