Classic Saigon has a special place in my heart. I've gone here many times over the past decade and their food is always delicious! Decided on takeout this time and the order was ready when estimated. The owner is very friendly and at this point knows my order. We ordered the egg rolls, cream cheese wantons, 114, and chicken pho. I absolutely love these egg rolls. They have a delicious filling and a perfectly crisp shell. The accompanying fish sauce adds just enough sweetness to balance out the savory flavor. The 114 or any of the other bún dishes are one of my favorite menu items. Savory toppings for a fresh noodle salad base and a fish sauce that adds additional flavor. The chicken pho was the perfect dish for cold weather. Their broth is nicely seasoned and not overly salty like other places I've tried. Would not recommend this place. Saturday night there's about 3 tables with customers. Server took our order and never returned with any beverages. We waited patiently, but after an hour I decided to ask him if we could get some water. When he finally brought the water to us, he didn't bring any for my 4 year old grandson. My daughter asked him if we could get some water for him as well, his response was,"I never bring for kids because they spill it". We told him he needed some water. He brings the water back and sits it at the end of the table away from my grandson. At this point, we were just done. We left and we told him that his attitude was very unpleasant. My rating is 3.5 stars. I likely need to give this place another try. For a while, I have been eyeing Classic Saigon. I visit Walgreens next door often. I always see the pho drawing on the glass and have been curious to drop by. After shopping at Walgreens last month, I headed over here for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The plaza has a lot of parking. I walked in and was greeted by a nice man. I got a table and took some time looking at the menu. There were lunch specials. They were more Cantonese dishes. I wanted pho, so I focused on that menu. I ordered the following items: - Coconut bubble tea - Sliced beef and meatballs pho (#93) I got a glass of water to start. It was refreshing. I was thirsty. My coconut bubble tea came out next. It was more of a creamy slush. It was yummy. It wasn't overly sweet. It had chewy boba at the bottom that was good. My pho came out next. It looked good. I placed mint and bean sprouts into the broth. I also squeezed in a lime. I was the lone diner until a loud group of five folks came in. One guy decided to take a business call in the restaurant and paced around the eatery. I was not impressed at all. I should not be subjected to his boring phone call and watching him make circles around the tables. The pho broth was disappointing. It was flavourless, other than the lime juice that I had squeezed in. There was no star anise. Nothing. The broth relied on the pho ingredients that were in the bowl. I felt that I got only one beef ball that was sliced into five pieces. Maybe there's a beef ball shortage that it required rationing a lone one for each bowl of pho? Weird. The sliced beef was slightly more generous. It was decent. I still prefer rare beef, but it was not on the menu. The noodles were decent. I loved them. I wouldn't mind returning and getting something else other than pho. I have had better pho. Perhaps it's not this eatery's specialty. The menu had many versions of chow fun. I'd like to give one of those dishes a try. Maybe I'll have a better experience. I paid at the counter with a credit card. The man said that he takes all credit cards. Nice! The transaction completed without a hitch. A couple came in closer to the end of my meal. The man received a call and moved himself out of the dining area to take it. He was my hero. We got takeout after a couple of years away. Ordered two orders of egg rolls, which were OK. Dipping sauce was overly sweet. Ordered Pork Chow Mein and Bo Luc Lac. My pork was overcooked and the veggies were limp and overcooked as well. The Bo Luc Lac was all tomatoes and the beef was hard to chew. No garlic flavor at all. When I arrived, no one was in the restaurant, one dirty table, and lots of coolers and hot plates against the wall. We were very disappointed. Paid over $50 for food we could barely eat. read more

Wonderful experience with incredible wide variety of Asian cuisine options. Had the crispy chicken with garlic sauce, chicken pad thai and chicken spring rolls. Everything was delicious and fresh. I had to customize my choice for health reasons and the owner worked with me and was very gracious about it. Delicious Vietnamese/Asian cuisine! We're from Florida, and visited family in minnesota last week over Thanksgiving. We ordered takeout AND delivery from Classic Saigon, on two different occasions, it was that good. Both times, we ordered Pho (one is enough for 2 people), sweet and sour chicken entrée (a whole to go box full), beef and brocolli entrée (a whole to go box full), a whole to go box of pork fried rice, a side of white rice (small to go box), 8 eggrolls with EXCELLENT dipping sauce ($5/2 large fried eggrolls), and the cream cheese puffs. Let me say, it was all SO GOOD! That entire order fed 5 adults and 2 young kids (under 5 years). The total came to around $70 for a ton of food. A little pricey but SO WORTH it. The first time, we had it delivered. The second time, we picked it up. The restaurant was clean inside, decorated nicely. It was closed due to COVID19 restrictions, but pickup and delivery still available. The host/owner was awesome. Very polite, friendly, outgoing. It took 40 minutes to get cold burned food. My wife and I went to this restaurant after not being there for a while and not remembering why we stopped going. We ordered egg rolls which were serviceable and came almost right away. we ordered two simple dishes, shrimp pad, Thai and special egg foo young. it took 40 minutes and since it was the first meal of our day, we chose to wait we normally wouldn't have The shrimp pad Thai was not pad Thai, it was small rice noodles, which were starchy stuck together and cold with very little flavor. My wife's egg foo was just burned bean sprouts almost no egg and a cool watery gravy Even the rice was undercooked and crispy. The only person there asked how it was and ran away as we drew breath. We have had take out from this restaurant a number of times now since moving to Eagan. It is the best Asian restaurant that we have found in Eagan by a long shot. The food here is amazing and the service is always very friendly. The gentleman that runs the restaurant is very friendly and informative. The atmosphere of the restaurant looks very nice and presentation of the food makes me want to eat in the restaurant next time we eat there. This is the only restaurant we have found in the area that has decent Asian food. We have found some mediocre and many bad restaurants. I strongly suggest trying Classic Saigon! read more

I've been to this restaurant a few times since moving to Minnesota and I'm always left wanting more. More from the food and more from the service. The food is "ok" if you've never had Vietnamese food before. But to me, almost every dish I've tried is super bland. The unadulterated pho broth was so simple and plain, it didn't taste like much of anything to me. The fried rice was very basic with just meat and scallions but very little flavor. A rare and amazing find in the Twin Cities. This is your average, but not so average Vietnamese eatery in suburban Minnesota. Most of the time they cater to the usual Vietnamese menu items like Pho and Vermicelli Noodle Salad, but they have a hidden menu that is not so hidden as well. On the walls of this establishment you will find classical Vietnamese dinner items from your Canh Chua or Vietnamese sour soup to whole fried mackerels. I would highly recommend ordering the salt and pepper squid has the light batter and deep seasoning is one of the best rendition of this dish. This is a family own establishment, so you know that someone in the family is cooking in the kitchen and probably running it out to you too. I order three PHOS over the phone, when the open the bags there are no chopsticks no napkin, no plastic spoon and forks... And i call them back tell him that he forgot put the chopsticks spoon and forks, you know what the respond wasyou didn't asked for it ...。forgive me I'm really really wanna say "F" words. Came for dinner on a Wednesday night to order the combo with no rare steak. Two or three others were finishing their meal. The service was fast and The gentleman who took my order was friendly. Broth for pho was a bit sweet for my taste. Otherwise it was flavorful and fragrant. The overall portion was good but the meats cuts (meatball tendon and brisket) were kind of thin/small. The first Saturday after George Floyd was killed. Curfew. Almost no one open after 8:00. Called on a whim after walking Lebanon hills. Man picked up and took my order. Shrimp fried rice, crispy chicken in garlic sauce and shrimp egg Foo young. I know this seems pedestrian compared to what I normally order. But I was looking for my version of comfort food. And they had it. And we're open. My discussions with the owner were heart breaking. A really good man trying to make it work when Covid tool business's to a crawl. Riots and curfew made it worse. The food? It was probably better than he has ever made before. I don't give out five stars unless it's really something. I took it w my friend and we found a bench out a ways. We sat and ate. The takeout meal I ordered at this restaurant was the worst Asian meal I have ever eaten. The kung pao chicken was bland and full of celery--the classic version is made with green onions and hot chili peppers. This had no spice of flavor at all. The "special" fried rice was just ordinary white rice, cooked in chicken stock, with tiny bits of what appeared to be pork, shrimp and chicken. I live in Minneapolis. I had to pick up tile at The Tile Shop in Eagan. It was a grey, rainy, cold fall day. A perfect day for soup, a perfect day for pho. And as I was driving to Eagan to make my tile dreams come true I had all but given up on my dreams of having a warm bowl of pho after. Lo and behold, I learned that the couple ahead of me in line at the Tile Shop owns a restaurant called Classic Saigon. Saigon, you say..... hmmm... sounds like pho to me.... opens at 1 and it's 12:45..... So I stopped by. I brought home spring rolls, eggs rolls and three different kinds of pho for the fam which were all received warmly. The broth was great, not as fragrant with anise as some, but that's not always what's called for. The sliced beef, brisket and tendon in the soup were fantastic, really good quality. I would love to comment on the egg rolls or fresh spring rolls, which both looked perfect, but my two children devoured all of them before I could get a sample.... so I'm guessing they were good. So basically if you live in Eagan and aren't getting spring rolls, egg rolls and pho here, you're missing out. Go there and do that now people! read more

I've been eating here for lunch a couple times a month for three years. The food is decent, I like the Singapore noodles and the broken rice dishes. For a suburban spot it's pretty good. The staff has always been excellent here. I've always had tremendous service. I have some dietary restrictions and the owner has always been very gracious to accommodate my requests, even remembering for me what I don't eat so when I order something new, he gently reminds me and offers to make it special. Had such a great meal last night with the family! We had the chicken lo mein, 2 phos with chicken and beef plus another dish of potatoes and beef (don't remember the name of this dish). They are all fantastic. Also apparently the Honeydew bubble tea is good too. This is our 3rd visit and every single time we have had a great experience. I saw some of those 1 star reviews and simply do not understand the harshness towards this restaurant. The manager is very attentive and the quietness of the place (with relaxing music) is much appreciated - good place to have a private conversation over dinner. If you have never visited this restaurant, just know that this is a very small business. Don't expect to be served like a king or a queen. I've only ever seen the manager/owner of the place handling everything for the customers. I'm already looking forward to visiting the place again! I've been a regular here for almost ten years now; this is the most underrated Asian restaurant at least in the city. I'm always bringing different friends here and they love it every time. The owner is incredibly nice everytime I come in. He's got both Asian American dishes and authentic Vietnamese dishes so it's nice for both a takeout go-to or when you want to try something new. I wondered in here one day a couple weeks ago looking for some pho. I was greeted by a girl with a smile on her face. I was sat right away at a table by a window. The menu was big, but I was on a mission for pho... like I already said. I ordered the 91 and the steaming hot bowl of pho came out very shortly with all the fixings. This is by far the best pho I've eaten. The broth is so delicious, the meat is tender and not tough, the noodles are wonderfully prepared and the do not stick together, nor are they chewy. I've been back here at least once a week since my first visit. I've even driven home from work, picked up the boyfriend and drove back to Eagan to devour this most delicious meal. I've also had the cream cheese wontons, which are amazing, and the egg rolls are super delicious and crispy, and not greasy like some other restaurants. They have great service with a smile, the place is very inviting, the atmosphere is great, and the servers remember your faces. If you're looking for some good authentic Vietnamese cuisine, check this place out, even if you're not in the Eagan area, it's totally worth the drive. read more

I walked in, weary of the establishment because something seemed off about this place. I was seated quickly by the only person working the front. The room was dimly lit, it was lunch time. The decor was pleasant, albeit cliche. What I immediately noticed after the decor was that several tables had not been cleared off. Now when it's busy, it makes sense to me that this happens. It was not busy. I counted 9 tables that had not been cleared off, with only 4-5 tables that had customers (2 of which were ready to leave and pay their check). I read some reviews about the egg rolls so I figured I would give them a try in addition to the Saigon Pho. Big mistake. They were dripping with oil! Now I realize that egg rolls are deep fried, but I've never had egg rolls this bad before (in terms of excess oil). The dipping sauce couldn't mask the excess oil flavor either. Very disappointing. Then came the pho....and it was ho-hum. Definitely not the worse I've ever had, but I wouldn't quite put it at average either. Their greens were old, I can always tell when a restaurant is using ingredients more than a week old. I used to work at a restaurant on University, greens under 1 week tasted fresh, anything older than 1 week would be dry and stale. Their basil was dry and stale to say the least. My water cup was kept full throughout, so they get an extra star for that. All in all, a 2 star experience, but if you have a pho craving and don't want to drive into the cities, this is your ONLY option. Stick to the pho, avoid the rest. read more

This past summer, I was staffed on a consulting engagement in Eagan, MN. We usually went out to eat during our lunch time and it so happens Vietnamese is generally agreed upon. I love Vietnamese food, so I was excited to try this cuisine outside of the Minneapolis-Twin Cities area. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly girl who showed us our seats and gave us the menus. She would then remember our faces and preferred dishes after our frequent visits. The food options were beyond the usual stir-fried / house special fried rice, so that was a plus. There were food options that range from sweet & spicy fish soup (canh chua), Vietnamese Caramelized & Braised catfish (ca kho to), to the mainstream pho. Since I have more experience with pho and can tell the difference between a bad, average, and amazing one, I went with the usual pho special. The dish arrived and I had a taste of the broth. It was fairly consistent and looked like it was simmered with bones and had the usual taste to it. What I wasn't happy was the lack of quantity in the dish, in terms of noodles and meats. Classic Saigon was selling a $7.50-8 pho that is about the same prices as the Twin Cities. However, there just wasn't enough to help me enjoy the dish. We had some appetizers too, like the typical summer rolls and egg rolls. These were not as good as other restaurants like Quangs or Pho Tau Bay. The rolls were not rolled as tight, so some of the ingredients fell. Also, the hoison / peanut sauce was completely off as I could make a better sauce. Take note - sauce counts! Classic Saigon is an average Vietnamese restaurant. It does well in the suburban area as it provides a friendly introduction into Vietnamese cuisine. It does the trick if you have a pho craving, but there is nothing that is major memorable about it. If it was in the Twin Cities, it may be out of business though. read more

We had our first meal from Classic Saigon tonight for my birthday celebration. It was our first take out meal for well over a year. We love healthy food, fresh vegetables and seafood. The meal was absolutely wonderful and I could not recommend this restaurant enough. We will definitely be eating here much more now that we have found this gem of a restaurant in the heart of Eagan. I can't stress enough how much I love this restaurant! My favorite item is #99 - Chicken pho. When I come in, we are always greeted by the owner who remembers my favorite item. He is always very kind and welcoming to us when we come in. He seems like he has so much going on since he runs the restaurant with minimal staffing, but he always handles everyone at the front of the house and ensures that the food is up to their standard. I recently brought my family in from out of town, and the owner thanked me for spending our time together in his restaurant. If you have never tried pho, I would recommend stopping in and trying Classic Saigon. They have a very vast menu and have options for everyone. Two take out orders. The guy in front of me was not happy because of errors with his order, and the cashier//waiter was using swearing and disrespectful dialogue. We've been coming to this place ever since my husband started working at Delta in 2011 and it's a bummer that our service continues to get worst each time we give it another chance. Their pho is ok. They have bun bo hue on the menu but rarely do they have all the stuff to make the soup. If you're not going to make it, take it off the menu so people don't thin it's available. The only thing that I feel it's good is their vegetable fried rice. The vermecelli noodles salads are ok. My husband likes their macaroni noodles stir fry. We came here today because I was craving bun bo hue but they didn't have it today but it's on the menu. The guy that works there is a hit and miss with how he treats us when we come. Some times it's super nice and other times judgemental. Today I ordered the special lomein stir fry and it forever to get our food. When it did come out, my entree was masked with bean sprouts with very little noodles. There was one shrimp, a couple pieces of beef, bbq pork and chicken. The noodles were very greasy and have me a stomach ache and was hungry right away. Most Asian restaurants will give you more food for your money but not this place. It's over priced and not a lot of food. You would only be able to take left overs if you ordered multiple appetizers with your entrees. Still a bit stunned by what happened at this restaurant today. When we lived and worked in the S. Metro, this was a place we'd frequent regularly, so I was excited to try it again after so many years. Whenever I am in the Twin Cities, I try my best to visit places that I used to frequent regularly, like this place. My first hint that something was amiss was walking into a nearly empty restaurant a bit before noon, which seemed unusual because this place used to do a booming lunch. Anyway, an Asian fellow seated me, and after awhile he came to take my order. I ordered the chicken & vegetable combo, which included an egg roll and rice. Since I used to LOVE their egg rolls, I ordered a separate order along with a coke and water. Well, the water never came, and the coke arrived in a dirty can without a straw or glass with ice. The meal came, and the egg rolls were just like the old days...delicious. I immediately told him the chicken had an unpleasant "fishy" taste, and he said "what do you expect, it was cooked with Oyster Sauce"...which was never indicated on the menu and is a big concern for anyone with shell fish allergies, which luckily I don't. Then he added, "the other fellow there (while pointing to a man in the corner) is having the exact same thing, and he likes it." Well, I don't, what options do I have, I asked? "There is nothing I can do because we are a small business and we'd go out of business replacing food." At this point I asked for the manager, and he said "he's not here, I am the manager". He kept repeating "I am not going out of business replacing food". I finished my egg rolls (leaving the complete meal on the table) then went to pay. At this point I told him that I'd been coming here since the year 2000 and I've never been treated this way.
