Sadly for a place right on the water you will probably get better food if you steer clear of the fried seafood. This place has a nice view but their fried seafood isn't very good and the batter seems rather strange with the seafood obviously frozen and not very fresh. The fried shrimp have that unfortunate rubbery texture that properly cooked fresh Gulf shrimp should NEVER have. They have decent hamburgers here and I hear they do a good breakfast (I'm not a breakfast person so I will never know). Inconsistent would be the best way to describe how most of the menu is executed so it really is a gamble as to what will be good or not on any given visit here. Not long ago I took a weekend vacation with my lady to Navarre Beach. Doing a little of research we found that one of the popular places was Juana's Pagoda and the Sailor's Grill Bakery & Bar. We dined there for lunch one day, stopped by for a desert that evening and then visited the following morning for breakfast before hitting the road. Lunch was ok, nothing really special. It was about what I expect from a diner, although this place is not your typical diner. The real stars of the show are the amazing deserts at the bakery counter and the fantastic breakfasts. Especially the sticky bun. It's so good it gets its own sentence fragment. During lunch the restaurant wasn't crowded at all. In fact, it was a bit empty. When we stopped by for desert the place was a little more filled. For breakfast it was standing room only. This is *the* spot to get breakfast in Navarre apparently. Overall I'm giving it 4 stars for desert and breakfast. Have lunch and/or dinner some place else. read more

The galley nachos, fish fingers, and steamed shrimp are not to be missed as well as the "Pagoda" burger/sandwiches. Also, they serve a KILLER breakfast. RyAnnie Review one- we decided to stop by this little beach side joint on our way home from the beach and must say, disappointed. There were a few positives, it's of course right next to the water and they have a playground on the beach for the kids however I've always been adamant that have good atmosphere is no excuse for poor food quality. We ordered an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert and all were lack luster. The appetizer was an order of chili tots, the tots were crispy but the chilli was bland and there wasn't nearly enough to cheese to balance it out, it was like eat a big bowl of mushy chilli. The entrees 1. Shrimp (apparently that doesn't come with a side just a bowl of shrimp) and a Mexican burger with fries. I figured you couldn't go wrong with fresh sea food beach side, but I was wrong, the sea food like the chilli was completely bland it's like someone thought let's take this delicious fresh seafood throw it in a bowl of wet flour and see what happens, completely ruined the freshness of the entree not to mention serving it with a disgusting blend of cocktail sauce and ketchup, I've had more flavor from a gas station buffet. The second entree, the Mexican burger, again was completely bland of flavor and over cooked tasted like a piece of charcoal between a soggy bun and jar salsa, it's as if seasoning your meat was a completely foreign concept to these people. Finally dessert, I will say this even if the entree SUCKED I can usually turn a review around if you can serve a fabulous dessert (some people are chefs and some are bakers, is what it is) but unfortunately for my tastebuds they couldn't even handle this task, the key lime pie we ordered all mushed together in a keylime, whipped topping and dough (yes dough) tasteless blend, as a southerner whoever used canned pie dough instead of a gram cracker/ nut blend crust deserves to be shot and fed to the sharks. Overall the waitress was alright, friendly but slow at times, and the atmosphere is good, the food just ruins the experience, pack a picnic on the beach and stop by for a drink and round of volleyball. As a side note the corn dog I stole from my son was a 10/10 and deserves a bump up to two stars. read more

The rest of the breakfast food that was ordered (breakfast tacos, potato bowl, and omelette) was extremely bland, lacked a decent portion of meat, and was missing tomatoes on the tacos. Quite delicious. We've been to Juana's many times but just for drinks. This time we visited for dinner twice. Sat out on the patio both times. First time with kids and the food and service were great. The second time, just my wife and I, and again the food and service were great. I enjoyed the crab burger, and their version of the Bushwacker, the Juana-wacher, with an extra shot of 151 rum. Yummy. Will definitely be back. read more

We stayed on Navarre Beach last week and we ate at Sailors Grill one evening. It's one of only a handful of restaurants on the island. It was a nice evening so we sat out on the deck overlooking the harbor and volleyball courts. My daughter and wife played on the swings until our food came. We all ordered burgers. My wife and I shared one (which was plenty) and we also got a half order of fries and onion rings. My daughter got the kids cheeseburger. Everything was good. Great atmosphere sitting out on the deck with amazing views. We were the only ones outside except for the people playing volleyball. read more

We visited Sailors Grill on a Fri morning at about 9:15 fully aware of the possibility of delays due to Staff shortages. There were no diners inside and we sat outside which had maybe 6 other tables already seated. We all ordered water and 1 Mimosa. Our food order was placed with our server after the drinks were received. Then we waited, never did see our server after that. A large table of customers came in and I thought to myself that I was glad our order was in. And then we waited. So the large table got their food. Another table got their food. So at the almost hour point we checked and were told by our now present server our food should be out soon. By then we were ready to leave. When the manager came she said our order had just gone in 10 minutes ago...hmmm, well we said we were leaving. Our ticket was obviously lost, but instead of the manager admitting that either the server or kitchen staff lost the ticket and apologizing, she insisted that the $6.25 Mimosa be paid for. Really...considering we sat for an hour in an unbusy restaurant, without our server present, you could have comped the Mimosa and apologized and maybe we would have come back since we are locals. I go here every time I'm staying in Navarre and never leave disappointed. This is not fine dining but it's not just bar food either. SG can be a little expensive. Given the location and the views, it's to be expected. My ratings on some things: Sticky buns: 4, excellent, a little expensive for the size at $4.50. Grilled Shrimp App, 3: On the first trip great flavor, well cooked, and a generous portion. On the second time not as well seasoned, overcooked. A little expensive at $16ish. Smoked Tuna Dip App, 3: Good, smoky flavor, mostly tuna, pretty small portion for $16, had to ask for more crackers but the server brought more immediately even though they were very busy. Shrimp & Grits, 3: Good flavor on shrimp, grits were a little soupy, 6 pretty small shrimp for $12.99. Pagoda Fish Sandwich, 3: Good flavor on the blackened version, was not as generous a piece of fish as I recall last time. Mexican burger, 4: great sear on the meat, chili was tangy and flavorful, jalapeno bread tender and well toasted. The tots that came with it were grease-logged, like they'd been dropped twice and were corrected immediately when I said as much. Service, 3: I see the same servers here year after year so the management must be doing something right. My service has always been A-Ok. Is it casual? Very. Do they make food/service mistakes? Yes but they correct it if you tell them. I should mention here that two of the reviews left on 3/21/19 were left with malicious intent. It was a busy night and the wait was close to an hour. I have no doubt that something went wrong with their order but there was no excuse for the way they acted after they found out that their food wasn't going to be free. Even one of the people at their table said, "don't lie." when they said they were typing a review saying, "the fries tasted like s**t". They made the end of our decent meal uncomfortable and also created a scene at the front door by telling the people entering to turn around and leave. Go to Sailor's Grill if you want a great view, convenient eats while on Navarre, good breakfast, kind service, and beachside fare that strives to be original. It might take a while and can be expensive. I hope their quality grows in proportion to their prices and they continue to serve Navarre Beach. read more

my friends and i all came to this place for the second time this week in which the first time nothing was wrong except for the long wait. Been here before and the omelette was bland/watery so today I had fried eggs, bacon and a biscuit off ala carte menu, pricy but good, waitress friendly. No 2-egg breakfast on the menu unless you go the expensive a-la-carte route, so that was disappointing. I will say that the ladies' room was clean and painted with a cool mural. I have been coming to the Pagoda and Sailors grill for years. Back when it was just a couple things on the menu and wine based Liquor. There is one constant for all of the years it's been Open.....it's not an in and out kind of place. Service takes FOREVER!!! It always has. You could Order a cup of gumbo back in the day or Galley Nachos and it would take an hour! Everything is Bigger and the menu has lots of great things. But as always.....if you Juana eat....expect at least An hour. And service is hit or miss. Sometimes you Get someone who keeps you drinks filled, sometimes not. The food and atmosphere is good....so if you are in No hurry or have hours to waste for a bite....it's the go to Place. I'm not a fan of all of their baked goods. I like pies, bun rolls and muffins seem dry to me. My morning breakfast friends love the chili omelette. And my favorite- Greek omelette. Again....don't go if your famished. Or stop at Whataburger for a honey butter chicken biscuit first. Lol! read more

Goat saw no sailors at this grill so why is it called Sailor's Grill? The Goat is a sailor and son of a son of a son of a sailor and knows all about sailing! Goat does not think this is a real sailor's bar and they sing no sea shanty songs! The Goat hears the hamburgers and breakfast items here are tasty and sometimes the seafood is ok but no good Vegan items to keep the Goat healthy, calm and balanced. The place looked great. We walked right in and were seated promptly. The waitress took our order and things were off to a good start. After waiting a VERY long time the food finally came out. My wife's pizza was pretty much raw in the middle. The dough was still liquid. We told the waitress, and she took it without any kind of apology or anything. My wife watched the rest of the family eat their entire meals while waiting on her pizza. We were all finished eating when it finally arrived... literally burnt to a crisp. The top of he pizza was black. The waitress dumped it on the table with a mumble and a half-smile and moved on to serve other guests. She couldn't have cared less. This horrible service is obviously par for the course with this restaurant. There was no apology or offer to discount the meal. There was no effort whatsoever to make up for their failure. To make matters worse, the bill was really high for mediocre bar food. I don't normally find myself compelled to review restaurants, even when we have bad experiences. However, I can say that you should avoid this place at all costs. It's just not worth ruining a night of your beach vacation. read more

Very accommodating and I loved their burger. I took my twin boys with me to lunch and the waitstaff helped make it a not stressful experience. We went on a Friday afternoon, so it wasn't terribly busy. I does get busy though on weekends. I got their Pagoda Burger with onion rings and it was delicious. I ordered the fish tacos and the fish was so hard I was afraid to break a tooth....No servers to complain to...My wife's nachos came from the convenience store next door.... Daughter had what looked like chicken strips and no sides came with it.. Stay away set all costs. If you are hungry, go to Burger King about one mike away. My family and I went down to Sailors' Grill this morning for our traditional vacation hot spot for breakfast. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted with a smile. No wait, no trouble whatsoever. We ordered the world-famous (not to mention, melt-in-your-mouth crazy good!) sticky buns along with some delicious, hot and fresh eggs/bacon. I could have stayed there all day and not cared because the atmosphere was so nice and relaxing. The menu looked like it plenty of promising options for lunch and dinner. The servers were extremely friendly and attentive to our dining needs. Never had to worry about an empty cup of coffee or water. The only problem that I had was having to walk past the most visually appealing and immaculate key lime pie in the window at the counter. I never expect fine dining at beach dives but this place was terrible from start to finish! The 30 minute wait for a table was expected as we had a party of 6. The 65 minute wait for our food, however, was unacceptable especially as we watched the tables around us receive their food, eat it and leave. Serious breakfast! I was shocked at the fluffy, outrageous omelet. The bread was over-the-top perfection. Biscuits, ditto. Grits the way your Momma made them. After reading some reviews, we were skeptical when we ventured into the Sailor's Grill. Fortunately, none of the bad reviews proved true for us on this visit! The atmosphere was wonderful. The food was wonderful as well! Our server, Bryan, was one of the friendliest and most personable people I have ever met. We genuinely enjoyed him and his company over the 2 hours we were there. If you go, be sure to ask for him! And order a banana daiquiri. They are amazing! We will surely return here our next visit to Navarre. read more
