We went to Brother Fox Sister Hen to finally celebrate my retirement from the U.S. Navy and it was a wonderful choice for the occasion. We had an early reservation with a show afterward and were greeted promptly, seated quickly, and given menus right away. Our server was very friendly and did a great job walking us through the specials without feeling rushed. The pacing of the meal was spot on. I ordered the fish special, which had an excellent portion size and great presentation. My wife went with the low country shrimp boil and really enjoyed it. The foods good, but just not great. I had the Octopus and the smallest part of the tentacle was completely burnt. I probably would have cut that off and not served it. The tentacle was chewy and even fatty at parts. It might have been slight overcooked. It's just not the best seafood based on what else is in the area. Potatoes were crispy and sauce was good. The salad was good. Personally I'm not sure I'd return for the food. Service was fine. They didn't have any kids coloring books or sheets which wasn't ideal but did have high chairs. Came in just for appetizers and just ordered one of everything. I think the least impressive was the olives. I know traditionally they come with pits in them and that just made it more difficult to eat. The Shishido peppers were kind of a miss as well, kind of soft and soggy. The aioli was a nice touch but provided not much flavor. Our favorite dish of the whole evening was the octopus with the mojo verde sauce. The mojo verde actually kicked the peppers up a notch. The mushroom tartar was also a great surprise lots of flavor and impressive presentation. Came here last night in a special 11/11 father daughter date night. Everything was up to par. Since we're there to chat and talk life we weren't in a rush. But the food did come out a little slow so do go there super hungry. We ordered the pallela and pork chop. Both delicious. Topped it off last with bread pudding. Our first time dining at Brother Fox. We had been hearing good things about it. We made a reservation & appeared early. So we sat at entrance inside watching the employees set the tables. We ordered the happy hour Marinated Olives, Pan Con Tomate, Shishitos, Gambas Al Ajillo & a 2X2 Charcuterie and ended up ordering another Pan Con Tomate w/ Anchovies. The olives were good and the regular order of Pan Con Tomate was delicious. We also tried another order with anchovies. Not our thing so we removed those little fishes. The charcuterie board had 4 slices of Spanish Chorizo, a piece of prosciutto (looked like maybe two pieces, two different cheeses, almonds & few blueberries and strawberries and one large Caper sliced into. It was good but it lacked a jam or sauce. For $36 I expected a fuller charcuterie board. I would not order the board again. So the one item that left me wanting more was the Pan Con Tomate. It was absolutely delicious. We may go back to taste the Carne Asada. It was a relaxing dinner and our server Emily V was very nice and helpful when it came to ordering. We visited today for Sunday brunch as I've been wanting to come for a while but we do not do dinner out very much any more at all and Sunday brunch is the only noon-time option here. For a restaurant built into the low ceiling, lower floor of a historic building this is very nicely, enjoyably and attractively done. Impressive. My wife had the shrimp tacos which she loved, but which she thought could be elevated with a complimentary sauce of some sort or another. Though I have been burned out on Shrimp and Grits for years now, I went with it today thanks to the reviews here on Yelp and our server's recommendation. I was not disappointed. This is a really unique and enjoyable rendering of this dish. The chorizo spiced sauce is quite tasty and the six large shrimp were perfectly cooked. It is hard to judge the flavor of the cheese grits for all the sauce that covers the dish. I would love to see this dish plated with the shrimp layered over the bed of grits and the sauce ladled over one side of the shrimp so the grits on the other side are sauce-free. Both my Tanqueray martini and after meal smoked Old Fashioned were superbly poured. Really well done. Our server, Bre, was delightful and perfectly attentive. We're going to have to make the effort to visit for dinner so we can delve into that menu's offerings. read more

Came in on a Tuesday night.promptly seated and drink orders taken.. then we waited.. and waited... one server who was super sweet and the hostess who was running food.. we started to order almost an hour in when we were told the three main things we wanted, the whole Chicken, sangria etc were not available. It took 50 minutes to get our drinks. Our appetizers came out before our drinks (whiskey neat, margarita, and an old fashion). 3 out of 4 people order the filet. They asked for them to be prepared medium rare and they came out well done. One guest could barely cut into his because of how it was cooked. Our server tried but she was struggling. We were 1 of 4 tables and she couldn't get keep up. We had a 2 top next to us and they left very disappointed. Other servers were coming up to them and apologizing for their service. Another 2 top was seated and they left 15 minutes after being seated because it took so long to be greeted. We have dined here serval times prior and there always seems to be "something" off. She came back saying they just sold the last bottle so we had to get another one. Ok. Then she broke the cork trying to open it. I hope she's new or she needs to rethink waitressing. Poor communication with staff. Seems like a manager and training related problem. But again, Grant was great despite his coworkers. Another training problem, reaching over and being inflexible with refilling glasses. If someone presents you their glass to be filled, don't ignore it and walk around the table. Don't look confused and refuse to fill a presented water glass. No pics because nothing was photo worthy. Bad presentation. Food was okay. Overpriced for what you get. My wife was skeptical about this restaurant after reading the menu online, but I talked her into it as we celebrate our joint birthday. First, be ready for free Friday & Saturday complimentary parking. Use it & don't walk! I think $10 for door-to-door service is fine. All 3 were tasty & not overly large portions. We prefer this as we want to get full on the main meal, not the appetizers. I drank the fuego hour Old Fashioneds (very good); she drank dirty martinis with blue-cheese stuffed olives. Both drinks were mixed to perfection. My wife got the pork porterhouse. It was big & I don't order pork out, but she liked it. I'd say it was maybe 45-60 seconds too long on the grill, but that didn't affect it much. It came with mashed potatoes & broccolini. Yummy! I got the 8 oz. Filet Mignon, medium rare, with mashed potatoes, diced potatoes & broccolini - I was in heaven! The meat needed those extra 45 secs from the pork, but I'd prefer erring on the side of rare than on the side of medium. It was simply delicious! For dessert we shared the special bread pudding (no raisins!!) with hazelnuts on top in the glaze. It was soooo good & large too. We couldn't finish it with 2 of us eating it! We were completely satisfied & when we finished, we made reservations for Thanksgiving! Definitely a place that will make our rotation here in town. First off, we started just wanting to get into Sister Hen, we waited for about 30+ minutes to get In. Once the manager, Andrew, came out to tell us that there was not any room but we could sit at the Brother Fox bar, he led us to the bar and gave us complimentary red wine for our wait. John gave us shots of Tequila right when we got to the brother fox bar. But that wasn't the gift. He showered us with laughter and entertainment. He celebrated our 10 yrs anniversary of marriage with a complimentary churros desserts! The banana foster whisky drink was so good! We finally got to go over to Sister Hen, it was so nice!
