So - my ex started taking the kiddos over to Sushi King and my little one wanted to go for his birthday, so we gave this a shot. I'm not a fan of the all you can eat sushi concept because I never really seem to get my money's worth as I am more a small portions kind of eater. I was surprised though by the variety of the selections available and the ability to order small portions as needed. My youngest destroyed about four plates of dumplings. I had a variety of sushi pieces, some crab rangoon, and some Chinese noodles. Everything was okay - it wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, but it wasn't terrible either. I'd put it on par with grocery store sushi (and sometimes the Harris Teeter folks do better I would say). My oldest didn't get nearly the price we paid for him as he only ate a handful of steamed shrimp. So - for the concept, it's okay, but in terms of quality, it's not quite as good as the OMG Sushi place with a similar all you can eat concept.

This place is perfect for a group, especially if you're really hungry. I wasn't disappointed at all. I enjoyed everything I ordered, but there's a lot of food to get through, and they do charge if you want to take leftovers home. I'd definitely come back, though next time I'll stick with just the sushi so I can try more. The restaurant is clean, and the staff was friendly. Overall, not bad for an all-you-can-eat spot!

Sushi King gets 4 stars only because it is very dated and some areas are closed down like the icecream. It is all you can eat but not a buffet. You order from the menu and servers bring the food and clear as you finish. It is hard to know what to choose from the menu but once you find what you like they can keep it coming. They do not do Mongolian BBQ and if they did that would be awesome. It is a large venue so wait time for a seat is pretty short. The price point is a bit high but if you eat a whole lot it is worth it!

This sushi kings was decent. I typically patronize at the location in the PTC. We arrived for the dinner portion which opens at 5pm. The parking lot is large and there is ample parking spaces. The hostess was nice and seated us quickly. The establishment is large and spacious. The menu is exactly the same at the other location so we were familiar with the options. The sushi was fresh and the hibachi was delicious. Overall cool location.

All you can eat sushi! Definitely the model was quantity over quality. Pricing was $17.99 for ONLY Monday through Friday at lunch; it was $23.99 for all dinners and all weekend. That's what got us for the pricing. Food: it was a little sub-par. Sizes were a little smaller so you can try more stuff, but it wasn't that good overall. All the appetizers were fried because it tasted like everything was frozen. Hibachi beef was okay. Definitely do not get the sushi as all of the fish tasted frozen or lower quality. The rolls were decent when it was covered with sauces. The rice itself tasted either old, overcooked, or had too much rice vinegar. Would recommend if really hungry. Service: service was alright. We came in Sunday at lunch with fewer patrons, but it was a little slow. Atmosphere: standard buffet style. It was a little darker and seemed a bit sad somehow?

As a person who is trying to find the sushi I enjoy, this was a perfect place. The low cost allowed me to try so many options and share with family. The non sushi options we tried were the crab Rangoon, spring rolls and fried rice. All of which was pretty tasty. We tried about 8 different rolls from the menu. This included the dragon roll, veggie roll, California roll, shrimp tempura, monkey roll, and a few others. The dragon roll was the clear winner of group and we were pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of the monkey roll. Overall a cleanly place but the menus were a bit sticky. The staff was friendly and pretty speedy. I would go back to taste more delicious sushi.

I have come here for several years. The food is always consistent. I have yet to have a negative thing to say about this sushi king. The service is always quick, even when they are busy they are still pretty fast. The restaurant is typically quiet with music playing. Every once in a while it'll get kinda loud if there's a large group but that's anywhere. For the price this is in my top 3 places I go for sushi.

This year my husband chose to try this restaurant. I looked at the reviews prior and it was hard to read some of them. I needed up reporting some of them since it clearly was written by a disgruntled employee. I then saw reviews about people stating they felt ill after they ate. In the end as I normally do I try to go in giving them a chance regardless of what the reviews say, it's only fair. When we arrived we were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress brought us our drinks then took our orders. It was a rare moment that we were not attended too. The food came out pretty quick. My husband enjoy all his sushi. Not major complaints. He referred it to as unlimited grocery store sushi. Dessert is very limited here, atleast when we went. There is an icecream machine but the chocolate side was done. There are cups as well but it was the very small paper bathroom cups. I felt that was a joke honestly. In the end I never saw anything that gave me the feeling that employees were unhappy with their management. The business was booming when we left, and the servers were busy.

We arrived when it wasn't busy and were told there would be a 5-10 minute wait. After about five minutes, I asked about the delay after noticing staff and the manager chatting instead of seating guests. We were then seated, but waited another 10 minutes while multiple servers passed by without acknowledging us or taking our order. We ultimately decided to leave, and the manager didn't appear concerned or attempt to address the situation. Based on this experience, I won't be returning, especially with better dining options in the area.

It's mostly been hibachi dinners, but also mix in Happy Hour visits and last year, a visit for Newport News Restaurant Week. Let's see how this one turned out. When we walked inside, they had a nice crowd for lunch. Again, it was a holiday. We were able to be seated quickly and did take some time looking at the menu. Staff was busy and the waitress did take a minute to come to our table, but it really wasn't a rush on our day off. For my meal, I selected gyoza for appetizers and their stir-fried bento box with beef as the protein with hot spice. Everything that was cooked very well. The gyoza was full of flavor along with enough dipping sauce to help with each taste. The bento box was really good. There was enough protein and veggies included and the hot spice wasn't that spicy on the palate at all. A nice lunch that kept us full. Hayashi did deliver for the day. You know we'll be back :)

I ordered the Kake Udon for me and two orders of steamed gyoza for my kiddo. I gotta say, I was surprised when the order arrived. The udon noodles were paper thin compared to what I'm used to. The fried tofu was so hard it was basically inedible, and the broth - well, it had little to no flavor. To top it off, my kiddo took a bite of one dumpling and then spit it out. This child DESTROYS dumplings, so I asked him what happened -- he said "who puts corn and carrots in a gyoza dumpling?!?" and I can't say I disagree with him. Pork and cabbage filling - duh! Overall, totally not our jam and we probably won't revisit it. I guess the reviews are based more on folks who haven't experienced true Japanese cooking? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure my Japanese host mother would have given it no stars.
