This is my favorite quick hibachi place in Newport News,VA. They're food is fairly consistent, priced well, and delicious. Since COVID hot, they're doing to-go orders ONLY.

I was looking for something different and I came across Hibachi Express on Yelp; the reviews seemed very positive so I decided to check it out. First impressions, the restaurant is in a strip mall right beside some construction, so if not looking for it, it can be hard to miss. Inside, the restaurant is clean, staff is friendly, menu is very extensive would many options to choose from and everything is cooked to order (which you could see through the glass). Overall, food was decent, portion sizes are wonderful (you won't be hungry after). I ordered the Hibachi Shrimp, w/ rice & veggies. The shrimp were nice size, veggies tasted great, the rice on the other-hand tasted very stale & old and I avoided eaten it. I would recommend this place, good prices, good portions, overall food isn't too bad.

WOW! Saw this on Yelp and the reviews looked really good so I thought I'd give a try for a Friday night takeout. The food is amazing, tasty and fresh. The veggies are so tasty! I ordered chicken and shrimp with white rice and extra zucchini and a lot of yum yum sauce! My new favorite stop for Hibachi. The restaurant is so clean and there's a huge glass for you to watch them cook (great for kiddos). I'm coming back for sure!

Lots of food! Enough for two people to have full plates. Chicken was cooked and well seasoned, so were the veggies. Not gunna lie the rice was bland. I also had the fried dumplings as an appetizer. I had a pick up order when I went to the restaurant it was very clean and u could see them cooking your food through the glass. Definitely will be returning.

Pile of rice, barely any meat. I can see why the reviews aren't that great. If you want a pile of rice for $20 this is the place to go.

They were also out of the snake river Wagyu ribeye and strip steak. We were told they didn't receive a shipment of meat. The food was really good regardless of that, luckily they had three orders of lamb chops left so some of us ordered the rest of that. I like that when you order a steak it already comes with two sides. Other steakhouses you would have to order sides à la carte. The cocktails were amazing and service was great. Only thing that was a little weird was we had two birthdays and asked the manager if they happened to do a complimentary birthday dessert or something for the two birthday guest. He responded politely with we don't do any birthday desserts but you can order champagne since it's a celebration. Mind you it's a party of 12 and each couple's bill was at least 250+. Nonetheless, we had a great time and money was well spent, definitely worth trying out!

The restaurant is beautifully designed, and the staff provided professional, attentive, and friendly service throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. While everything was presented well, the flavors were somewhat bland and lacked the level of taste and quality we anticipated for the price point. Given what we spent, we felt we could have received a more memorable dining experience elsewhere, such as Eddie V's, where both the atmosphere and flavor profile tend to align with the premium cost. Overall, the service and ambiance were highlights of the evening, but the food itself fell short of delivering the complete upscale dining experience we were expecting

Not sure how to describe the vibe- clean modern feel with a touch of cozy here and there - like the sofa when u first walk in. Pros: Cool sofa for waiting on a table or maybe cocktails? Krista was our server and she was delightful. Friendly and helpful - let us know her favorites and got our order in quickly since we couldn't take too long. Nice cocktail selection and even better range for apps and mains. Loved the ahi tuna flatbread!! Our favorite of the apps. Could have ordered for dinner and left very happy since it cost less too lol. Seared scallops were delicious- the sauce and fresh corn were amazing. Shrimp and grits had an impressive depth of flavor and the spinach and tomatoes were a unique addition. The black bass was also very good. Cons Prices on the higher side even for a fancy restaurant in Richmond. Didn't love the complimentary bread and butter: I appreciated trying to make the butter something unique- going for savory and sweet the white chocolate and herbs but the white chocolate didn't really work for us as an ingredient. Felt like the bread should've been crusty for butter like this and not the soft rolls they served. Didn't care for the pork belly appetizer. Instead of being crispy, it was just tough.

I rarely remember ordering a dish that I didn't like from here. Let's see how this visit went. It was fully packed when we arrived. The wait was 15-20 minutes which was manageable for the both of us. Once we got seated, it took almost 10 minutes to receive service. But once we had a server, things went a lot quicker. I forgot the guy's name, but thank you for saving the day. During the wait, we did look at the menu and made our choices. For apps, we picked fried pickles which came with both ranch and horseradish sauces. They really exceeded our expectations. The cost was $7.99, but they sure didn't skimp on the amount (same as before when we ordered previously). There was enough to take home. For my main entree, I chose the grilled BBQ chicken dish with Ceasar salad and loaded baked potato (minus sour cream). The dish itself was good and made me full near the end. Texas Roadhouse once again winning the day. Except for the long wait for service, lunch went well for us. A busy atmosphere for everyone involved so things do happen from time to time. We'll be back here soon :)

This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!

IDK, but we dined here with friends for NYE. I believe this spot is usually closed on Tuesdays, but opened the past two Tuesdays because of the holidays, I suppose. Nevertheless, I called about 5 days prior to Tuesday and secured a reservation for 6. We arrived at the time and were seated immediately. Our waitress, Alana (spelling) was attentive and super sweet. Overall, the guests were pleased with their meals. All except me :( I ordered the fish of the day, salmon over pasta. The salmon was severely under cooked. I returned it. They prepared the dish again, this time, scales were still on the bottom of my fish. Crazy :( I opted to not eat anything. So this night was a liquid dinner. I ordered a fresh margarita with my choice of tequila. Three margaritas later - it wasn't food, but the bartender was on point! And I was full of those drinks and a few celery stalks from my husband's wing app. I would definitely return and sit and bar. This explained why the bar was so packed all night. The drinks were bomb :) Parking, I only saw street parking. Not sure if other parking is available, but this was like our fifth time visiting this area of Hampton and parking has never been an issue.
