This place has mediocre Japanese food, but it was enough to satisfy my cravings. Apparently they're known for their seafood items, but I will have to come back next time to try it. They're located in a great location with plenty of parking. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. Great service.

Go.... A hidden gem!!! An authentic Japanese restaurant in Hattiesburg ! The others are overpriced, dirty or just full of too many people. I have driven by this restaurant a thousand times .... FYI it's behind Chic filet... hidden in a strip mall. I was supper pleased with the selection of sashimi and blown away by the delicious chicken wings. Reasonable priced speciality drinks !

Today was my first time coming to Sake Cafe. We walked in and were seated immediately. The wait staff came to the table and let us know that they didn't have any sweet tea at the moment. Good thing... neither of us drink sweet tea. We were given the menus and ample time to order. The waitress came back and asked if we had any questions or needed a moment more. We ordered our appetizers which included the edamame, seaweed salad, wok fried calamari, and fried gyoza. The appetizers and the salad came out pretty quickly. Everything was perfectly seasoned, great Temps, right texture, and the taste was superb. As we were finishing up our appetizers, the waitress came out to bring on the heavy hitters! Main dishes... Steak and chicken hibachi, Southern Miss roll, Spider Web roll, and a recommendation from our waitress Lexie the Angela 2. Everything was amazing. I have never been so stuffed in all my life and still tried to eat more. I am absolutely miserable and I have left overs. Ha ha ha. Can't complain about that. The atmosphere was awesome. There was some soft upbeat music playing in the background. It was not too loud as to drown out my partner, but just loud enough to hear and having me bobbing my head and doing a little jig in between bites. The wait staff (Lexie) was hands down phenomenal! She helped us to navigate the menu and even recommended some stuff since we were newbies here. The prices were exceptional. The location is perfect. Did I already say the customer service was absolutely 100 percent hands down the best we have had in a long while. Not to mention we came in looking like some ranch hands. Ha ha ha. I will have to recommended this place to anyone with breath in their lungs. They have something for everyone. If you think they don't, stop by and have a beer or a glass of wine, I'm sure your just stuffy from your week. Enjoy!!!

One of my favorite places to get take out from! Today I decided to try something new, I ordered calamari as an appetizer and was so excited to get home to eat it. To my surprise $7.95 calamari is just for 7 pieces of calamari meaning you are paying a $1.13 per calamari piece if you order calamari from here. That is extremely expensive. Don't order the calamari!

    Salmon box

I usually really like sake cafe and don't ever really leave reviews for places, but honestly my order today was pretty ridiculous. I ordered the salmon box which is $11, and got 8 of these rolls. For rolls from the SALMON BOX they literally have strips of salmon across them SO THIN it's translucent and don't even cover the whole tops of the rice. Ridiculous. Is this sushi? Or just sushi rice? It's literally just sushi rice. That was $11. I don't mind paying a good amount of money for good actual sushi, but I feel ripped off. Why be so stingy with the fish??????

I posted on Facebook saying the service was laughable. So the apparent manager decided to bash me for my opinion.

Food is good but my waitress was bad as communication and we had to send food back as they spilled sauce In which my Fiance did not want into her food. Also my friend did not receive a salad as asked for. On top of it all which got me was I posted on Facebook that the service of it was very bad and the apparent manager precedes to bash me on my own status. I posted pictures.

However, at the same time, you are happy that you did. So, let's get into the nitty-gritty of this review. The first time I went there for lunch, I sat in a booth so I could work while eating. So, I tried the Shrimp Teriyaki Box. It was terrific. So much so that I decided to order my dinner to go: the Steak and Salmon Hibachi Dinner Combo. I had my steak medium well. Later that evening, when I partook of my dinner, that steak was SO tender, juicy, and melted in my mouth. There is nothing like a good cut of meat and someone who knows how to cook it just right. The next day, one of my colleagues was interested in trying it after I told her about it. We ordered the following: Hibachi Fuji Yama Combination, Gyoza, Tempura Combo APP, along with a Fried California Roll, which was a first for me. But you're talking about some kind of good. The service on every occasion was fantastic; the staff were very attentive and cheerful, offering recommendations if you were unsure of anything. The atmosphere was engaging, clean, and not too noisy, where you can not only hear yourself think but also the other people in your party. If you're in the area, treat yourself to this restaurant; it's worth it.

Well, tonight was Horrible! The Habachi Chef was Ricky and he was not good! He had a style with his presentation and he spent too much time talking to a few members while not paying attention to our food. He even allowed one young adult crack an egg on the Habachi stove- this was not sanitary at all!!!!! He cooked the vegetables 1st and loaded the vegetables with loads of butter, then pushed the vegetables on the side, he then proceeded to to clean the Habachi stove then brought the rice and added the egg then poured what looked like 2 cups of soy sauce on the rice....and loaded it with butter, then he mixed the rice for 10 min, then put it on the side then went back to the vegetables and cooked them more, then he started talking to one of the fellows while we are all waiting on the rice to be placed on our plates. Then he finally decide to give the rice to us , he went to the guy he was talking to first but since the guy was on his phone he went all the way to me which I am further from all the other guest, instead of giving the rice to the next person - so I felt like he was upset that the guy he was speaking with was too busy..... then he served the rest of the rice..... now here is what really pissed me off ( not as bad as a customer cracking the egg for all to eat) but one of the customers said give me all the rest of the rice as a joke!!! So - the Chef Ricky did not evenly give the other customers rice- he gave ALL the extra rice ( about 3 cups remaining) to one person !!!!! Now it doesn't get better..... well , even though someone told him he was showering the rice with too much soy sauce, he also proceeded to shower the meat with the lit flan and more soy sauce..... even though my sister and the other customers told him light on the soy sauce! I was so upset that I had to leave the table to inform the employee in charge that it was beyond horrible and that I would not pay for the food... she informed me me her manager was not there and she couldn't give me no more than a 15% discount for me and my sister dinner. I really shouldn't have paid a penny , I did not eat the mess, and still couldn't get the fact that a customer actually used his hand to crack one of the eggs that was prepared with our rice. But, she did offer to give my sister and I some fried rice at no charge..... well we did get the cold bland rice- it was nasty but, at this point - I am extremely unhappy and trying not to make a scene, so I and my sister had a smile and politely paid for our meal. This was my "Go to Spot".... but after this experience. I cannot recommend this Restaurant- if you do go please make sure you do not get Ricky's your Habachi Chef. I am still so disappointed and can't believe how bad the chef was. The Service from the other employees was good, I wanted a manager, and not to have to pay for horrible food, but, no manager tonight, and after a long fun day, I just am tired and too exhausted to hassle with anyone.

There are absolutely no shortages of places to eat in Hattiesburg. Some visiting might lean towards safe places with menu items they feel secure and safe with, and there's nothing wrong with that. But, if that's you you're missing out on some amazing food. Today I took my wife for mother's day as they had some special items on their menu, while also keeping their regular menu available. We started with their standard dumpling appetizer. We get it everytime we eat there and they're delicious every time. The meals we picked were the the kimchi cabanara and the shrimp and grits. Both on their special mother's day menu. Both were absolutely delicious with fresh ingrediants, balanced seasonings and amazing flavors. I'm Italian and grew up eating traditional family Sunday dinners but this bowl of pasta was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere of the place is very modern with a combination of traditional asian features mixed with some modern MTV inspired artwork. If you're into craft cocktails they got you covered as well. The only miss we had to day was our server never came back to take our dessert order, when we asked to order it he confused what we said for the bill and brought that instead. Not a deal breaker, we were actually too full for it anyway and we've had their desserts before. They always inventive and delicious. At the end of the day, one small service hiccup wasn't enough to overshadow what was an outstanding meal and experience. In a city packed with chain restaurants and predictable menus, places like this are what make Hattiesburg's food scene worth exploring. If you're willing to step outside your comfort zone a little, you'll be rewarded with creative dishes, quality ingredients, and flavors you'll still be thinking about on the drive home. We'll absolutely be back.

Cocktails were creative and beautifully presented. The food was great - eclectic Asian would be my descriptor. We had the pickled veggies which included kim chi, black garlic, poblanos, pickles, and collards. The assortment was very nice. The pork and shrimp dumplings were a bit firmer than I'm used to, but not in a bad way, and the flavors were excellent. The pot roast egg rolls were a fun mashup. The okra was delicious - perfectly cooked and great balance of flavors. The pork belly buns were my favorite item. Lots of tender, crispy pork on a cloud soft bun. Yum! I will definitely return if in the area.
