Was going through Hattiesburg for the night and was in the mood for Thai. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. We walked in around 8 o'clock and they did not close until 930 and they were so gracious and welcoming, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Monday night. We ordered one of the appetizers, I will list the picture below, pad, Thai, and fried rice. It was honestly, some of the best typing that I have ever had. So I've tried their other location which was a FAR WORSE experience than what I got at this spot. The service here was a LOT better and the server took the time to ask what spice level I wanted my food at and then just provided excellent service.. So I a really pleasant meal with enjoyable food and great service. The food could have been more spicy to my taste but I'm guessing most of the locals complain about spicy food. The building here is on the older side and could use some more TLC to bling it up a bit but it really has a LOT of character and I like the space more than the strip mall location of the other Jutamas. I just can't understand how this location is just so much better in nearly every way over the other location. So if you are planning on eating Thai food in Hattiesburg make sure to visit this location and avoid the other location! read more

I wasn't expecting to thoroughly enjoy myself at a Thai restaurant in Hattiesburg MS of all places, but this place is legitimately a little gem, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone The exterior is inviting, and the interior is very well decorated and fun Our server was incredible. She was very welcoming, helpful, pleasant, and professional. It was some of the best service I had received in Hattiesburg The menu has all the classic Thai dishes to choose from, and the plating/presentation was exceptional. The food and drinks were tasty, and the portions were hearty Some tips: I'm a huge red curry fan, and their pumpkin red curry is delicious. It's packed with veggies and chicken, and the presentation/delivery was a nice touch. Also, don't just get a water or soda... try a Thai tea, it's delicious. Called in a to-go order a couple of days ago quite literally 15 minutes to their day time break before dinner. I woke up late because I was sick as a dog and ordered Bang Dang curry and Tom Kha: two of many beyond delicious dishes they offer (I'm looking to try everything before I graduate from USM. I told the super sweet lady on the phone that I needed spicy because my face felt like a balloon, and when I got my order home she left well wishes written on the lid of my soup. The restaurant was dated. Repairs inside are needed for just regular maintenance and simple clean aesthetics. The table linens were not fresh and we arrived shortly after their opening. The napkins were nicely displayed and clean. The place setting was nice yet the plates and bowls were both chipped. The waitress was super sweet and pleasant. The food was what I referred to as fillers while charging inflated prices on small portions on protein. The flavors on my curry were aromatic, tasty yet subtle. The portion of the rice was small as I suppose to compliment the small portion of chicken curry. Overall, I gave the 2 stars mainly due to sweetness and disposition of the waitress. A great place (only place( to grab Thai food in Hattiesburg. My favorite item is the drunken noodles. I've noticed the taste varies from day to day, some days the dish is quite saucy and flavorful and some days it's bland. Their noodle is different from your typical pad see ew/pad ke mao noodles. Jutamas has some of the most flavorful food in Hattiesburg. They have two locations but the one on Timothy lane is the best and has the most romantic vibe. They always play classic music and the lighting is nice and dim. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. My husband decided to go light and got their chicken in peanut sauce. It comes on a bed of lettuce with the cutest heart shaped rice. I got their shrimp phad Thai because It's my favorite. Such a nice balance between sweet and savory. My husband decided to get the fried icecream and the raspberry sauce with the icecream was nice. My husband ate all of it! We will be back again! read more

Found Jutamas Thai Restaurant on my last trip to Hattiesburg and was glad we did. It's a locally owned and operated business with a second location in Hattiesburg as well.  This Thai restaurant has made to order food that is presented with care and looks lovely. The venue is also very clean and inviting with a helpful and welcoming staff.  Looking over the five pages of their extensive menu I liked the introduction to some of the ingredients that can be foreign to some with they origins and even their medicinal uses. Ginger, lemongrass, galangal, basil, and chili specifically which cover widely used ingredients in Thai cuisine universally.  We started out with the Spring Roll which was quite good and my sweetheart order the Pad Thai, which is usually my go-to when trying a new Thai place, and she enjoyed it but thought it needed just a little more spice. I went with here regular Thai fave, Drunken Noodles and they were enjoyable but I took thought it lacking the amount of spice that I was expecting. I have had quite a few Thai restaurants that give you spice and/or heat options but I didn't see that here, nor did the server mention it. The somewhat nondescript exterior - albeit neat, clean, with a sharp green-and-white-striped awning shading the building's large windows, and several off-street parking slots in front - belies the charming, elegant simplicity of the interior. I was expecting a diner, which is all right, but Jutamas Thai is far more than that. There are white tablecloths and prettily folded napkins at each table, even at the bank of booths. The menu is quite large. All the food was fresh, well-prepared, and delicious. Despite the hearty servings, each plate arrived artfully composed. We had a fried wonton appetizer (large enough for three to share), a curry, and a pork with vegetables dish. The quality of the food and it's presentation exceeded my expectations. The service was polite, friendly, helpful, and attentive. We never felt rushed. The prices are very reasonable. The final bill for three dinners and an appetizer was $63. I would recommend Jutamas Thai Restaurant for a family meal, a date night, and a business dinner. Also, during our meal, several customers picked up take-out orders. I love Thai Food and have enjoyed it all across the country. My previous experiences with the restaurant were good or passable, with the only complaint being the prices. Today, I stopped in for lunch for the first time. No lunch menu. So I ordered spring rolls and Tom Kha with tofu and iced tea. The $20 plus lunch I had hoped to avoid but I was in the mood for Thai. The spring rolls came precut in 6 pieces, each about the size of a quarter in width, on a sea of peanut sauce where apparently they had been resting in a very cold refrigerator for a day or two or more. The wrapper was thick and rubbery (approaching the consistency of an o-ring), and the contents were unascertainable. It definitely was not fresh and not made to order. I rarely --send items back. This was bad. I sent it back. The soup was hot but had too much salt. It was like a practical joke level of salt. Not edible. I had this soup before at this restaurant, and it was never bad. Most restaurants serve this soup with a side of rice. No rice either. Service was good and friendly. Ambiance is nice. read more

I saw via HappyCow that they could do vegan options. They can indeed, but their curries can no longer be vegan, as they all have fish sauce. So I got their drunken noodle with tofu, and without egg. The dish came out in 10 minutes, but without tofu; so I sent it back, and they threw in some tofu. The dish was small, lacking in veggies, and was pretty oily. For $14.95 plus tax, this wasn't a great deal. I guess I shouldn't expect much from Thai food in rural MS. I wouldn't return. read more

First off, one of Hattiesburg's top five restaurants, so: make sure you stop to eat. Try any of the curry and rice dishes if you enjoy authentic Thai cuisine. Many of their herbs are right out of the backyard greenhouse, you couldn't get fresher. So first let me say I typically have a wonderful experience at Jutamas. In fact it's one of our favorite date night places. Tonight took an ugly turn, guess that what I get for deviating from my usual. Anyway, I chose to order the Grilled mixed seafood because it had both scallops and shrimp which are my top choices for seafood. Well, my order once I got home was a massive lobster tail and 3 scallops. Lobster tail!! Why is he complaining?!! Well this lobster was the toughest tail I've ever encountered and it tasted a little aged. I basically sat it to the side and ate the majority vegetarian meal that cost me $35. Not one single shrimp in the entire dish. If they were out they should have just communicated that with me. I mean I waited 30 minutes more than what I was told over the phone. I couldn't decide between several stir-fry options & the server was helpful in explaining the differences, even recommending his favorite, which I went with. it was SPOT on. we were served a very good simple vegetable soup while we waited for our food. it wasn't a long wait at all! our server made sure we were well taken care of, anticipating our needs & acting efficiently but not hurrying. I found myself in the small town of Hattiesburg, MS for work. Naturally I yelped the nearest Thai restaurant expecting to be disappointed (who would've thought there would be good Thai food in Southern Mississippi, where BBQ rules). Was happy to find Jutamas. With a big menu and southern hospitality, this restaurant was a recipient for success. I was here for a week and came for dinner twice. The first time I had the lad na mee grob, which is crispy egg noddles and lad na style chicken in top. This dish is not offered in many places (even nyc) so this was a treat for sure. The second time I went a little more conventional with sticky rice and gai yang (char grilled chicken). The food was exceptional. All staff adhered to covid protocols (surprisingly since I noticed a lot of other nearby restaurants did not seem to care as much). I tired Jutamas upon the recommendation of a relative. The food was fantastic! I really enjoyed the flavor and the presentation of the spring rolls. I also tried the chicken pad Thai. Excellent! I couldn't eat all of my food due to the large portion. I would have given this place a 5 star rating, but for some reason the AC wasn't working and they had the doors open. Beautiful and delicious food and setting. Last week I had the thai satay, which was juicy but with a good char, and served with a sweet and savory peanut sauce, and the glass noodles with mixed vegetables and egg, which had a great balance of flavors and texture. Service was simple and polite, not too much or too little. The outside of the building is unassuming but every detail inside is beautiful and arranged with care, from the decor to the plating to the napkin folds.
