First time there, trying to find good sushi in Jacksonville. Salmon sashimi was excellent, tuna was ok. Mexican roll was lame...so little shrimp in it that I ordered another dish. Sat at the bar where the mood was light and friendly, with a very chatty bartender. Wine, sake, and beer (and wine based cocktails, $8/ea). Live folk-rock music on Fridays. Had reservations at this place for 6 pm on a Saturday evening. Got there at 5:30, did not receive our food until well after 8pm and my Hibachi steak was ice cold. Stay away from this place. I ordered lunch carry out and I signed the merchant receipt to not include a tip due to not eating in at the establishment. I signed the receipt for the amount of the food including tax $11.72. When I check my bank statement the final purchase amount was $13.83. The restaurant included a 18% gratuity that I didn't authorize. I called several times and a lady keeps picking up saying there are no Managers available and she doesn't know when they would be in. I left her my info for the Manager to call back and I still haven't received a call. I will never go back. I'm contacting BBB and posting info to social media. read more

Having worked in the area of this restaurant for just over a year, I decided to buy a coworker lunch when the food trucks were lacking. All was OK until we had to ask 3 times about the status of the vegetable tempura we ordered as an appetizer. Finally a full 15 minutes after the entrees were finished, the appetizer was delivered - cold. I was still charged for it. Figured I should give them another go, so I tried it again today. I was lead to a group of seats and I chose one to my liking. I was told she could not seat me there (a 4 top with 4 settings) as it is held for larger parties. She directed me to a table next to my choice (another 4 top with 2 settings). There was one other customer in the restaurant. No major problem. Proceeded to order from the sushi menu and yet another vegetable tempura. All good until she brings the bill in the middle of the appetizer. Thought that was a little odd, as I had not received my main order. After a few more minutes of waiting, I finally got my server's attention and asked about the sushi. She explained that I didn't tell her I wanted sushi - even though I handed the filled out form directly to her. I was still charged for the appetizer. I will not be going back. read more

It's a nice area... It's first time and last time for this place... We ordered Gyoza, Tempura, and sushi but we got pork broth for gyoza's sauce and tempura's sauce... I asked the waitress can i have the sauce for gyoza and tempura she pointed at the pork broth...??? We got appetizers but no small places, we got sushi but no small bowls for soy sauce. This is an awesome place (reviewing as far as what the kitchen offers--not really a sushi connoisseur, guys)! It is moderately priced ($18 Hibachi/Teriyaki/Tempura entrees) and each includes a great salad, broth soup, and fried or steamed rice. Each is spectacular for the prices. The service was amazing, and we were even given a great specialty dish on the house. The location is a safe and inviting area, and the place was extremely clean and cozy. We had a late dinner at the Sake House tonight. Being late on a Sunday it was slow in the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is very clean. Upon sitting we were immediately served the soup with our drinks. There was too long of a wait between that moment and when the server finally took our order. I would say this was the only disappointing aspect of this restaurant. The main course came out in a reasonable time and had a very nice presentation. We had the Tuna, Shrimp, Sweet Shrimp, and Dynamite Roll, chef's special rolls and also teriyaki chicken and vegetables. All of the sushi we very fresh and had great taste, the chicken, well it was chicken nothing special but cooked correctly and the grilled vegetables were very good and fresh. I would recommend if you are down town and want a good meal this would be a great place. The service is the only potential down fall. read more

LOVED THE SUSHI... My favorite in Jacksonville... clean, and a pro chef. Fish is large, and rice is perfect. Spicy Scallop is AWESOME, also Sweetheart roll and spicy tuna are noteworthy. The Fish is so perfectly cut, nice thick large pieces, and not all the typical fried rolls - with a chef that knows how to make unique dishes, or ones you describe. I am from South Florida, and new to Jacksonville, and this place is great. The chef even modified one of my favorites, a yellowtail/jalepeno/masago sashimi appetizer with a rice vinegar instead of ponzu, and it is awesome... better even than Nobu in Miami... Then we are seated and wait ONE HOUR for our food that we already had paid for!!! Halfway through our wait we asked our server when it would be ready and she said 10 more mins. SHE LIED!!! Thirty five mins later I talk to the manager and they said it was just a lunch rush and no one had skipped us and that our food was on its way. SHE LIED!!! 10 mins later we actually see the wait staff scrambling to make our food after all that long time!! We saw other people arrive, be seated, order, eat, chat and get the check before we got our meals to go. I have actually lived in Japan for 10 years, and their sushi is okay at best. The slowest and worst service. They absolutely can not handle their lunch rush. I won't be back because I don't have time for a 1.5 hour lunch. Even call ahead is bad. They told me it would be ready in 15 min. I waited 25. Went in and stared at the person at the cash register for over 10 minutes and they refused to acknowledge I was standing there. Finally someone else walked up and I asked for my to go order. It was not ready yet. 5 minutes later, someone brought some to go food up to the cash register. No one acknowledged it was there. I waited 5 minutes and asked someone if that was my food. They said they would check but walked away instead. 10 minutes later I asked someone else if that was my to go food sitting up there getting cold. Finally someone checked it and it was mine. Then they walked off. Someone else came by and finally bagged my to go order. It took almost an hour from my phone call to having my now cold food in my hand. Unacceptable service. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is you get a lot of food for the price. You just need to allow yourself plenty of time to get the food. read more

Came here on a Wednesday for happy hour. Ricky at the bar was great. He was knowledgable in the selection of drinks and created my drinks with flare and skill. The cocktail presentation was fantastic! There is a fun collection of cocktails to choose from. I got a cucumber pear sake-Tini. I have never had a sake cocktail but it was great! Happy hour is from 4-7. Great prices during happy hour at 5 dollars a cocktail! I also tried the bonsai ginger crush and it was refreshing and delicious! They have complimentary miso soup and a great solution of sushi and other Asian staples. I have been looking for a place in Jacksonville with great sushi and I have finally found it. The decor is Asian inspired and the restaurant itself is clean and inviting. Great location. They even have live music on the patio every Wednesday and Saturday from 7-9. A hidden gem in San Marco. VERY DISAPPOINTING-Stopped in Jacksonville for an overnight on our way to Delray Beach and we were in the mood for some sushi. Tired from our long drive we choose to stay close to our hotel. My wife and I eat sushi at least 2-3 times per week and found all of the Maki Rolls we ordered at Sake House 2 to be mediocre. They were very small and clearly the fish was not as fresh as we have had in most other sushi restaurants. Service was courteous but very slow. Lastly, the restaurant has a very noticeable odor.
