I went to the north side to visit a friend who was in town visiting her sailor. We had dinner at Wasabi which her son loved. We waited a few minutes before being seated. Wasabi offered two options in addition to traditional dining. You could order from a specific menu (use the slips of paper at your seat) by writing down what you want and placing it on the edge of the table. One price was $20.99 and the other was $27.99 (included an extra column of choices). What an amazing deal which also allows you to try many different options! I went for the $20.99 and ordered soup, salad, cucumber salad, dumplings and sushi. The food came out quickly and everything was delish! And I tried a few pieces of sushi from my friends plates. Great experience at Wasabi! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out surprisingly fast - We got the shrimp fried rice, miso soup, clear soup, and a couple of sushi rolls (including the Spicy Girl and Baymeadows rolls), and everything hit the spot. The sushi was well made and nicely presented, and the shrimp in the fried rice was perfectly grilled. Both soups were warm and tasty! The service was a bit slow when it came to refilling drinks. That said, they were clearly busy, and the staff was still polite and attentive overall. They have AYCE Sushi too but we didn't try that this time around! Something new and different! This was a suggestion for us to go here. I wasn't sure what it was, but as long as I had some items I could choose from, I was good. We got a seat right away! The waitress grabs some papers, and numbered us, and gave each one of us one of the papers. I asked huh? What am I supposed to do with this. It's all you can eat, so you pick items on the menu and put the numbered item in the boxes. Ok, so I chose several items, before I could even finish picking my items, one of the people I was with, had food come already? I was like ok, where is ours? They said, Oh she did a quick pick, lol ok, I don't even know what's happening. So, I put my numbed paper on the end of the table and the waitress picked up my paper. Soon after that, she brough out my crab salad, I've never had anything like this in my life. The crab and the vegetables were all the same size, it was so refreshing and delicious. Then the Crab Ragoon and the crab tempura came out. The Tempura was interesting. One of them had some Crab in it, and the other one was kind of hollow. nevertheless, it was good. Then the Fried rice with Chicken and Vegetables came out, not really the way I was expecting it, but it was amazing. I didn't even need to add soy sauce to it. The chicken was tender, and the vegetables were great. I tasted the Steak, I'm glad I didn't order that! The meat wasn't tender at all. I must say, finally a place with good fried rice! I was looking for a quick bite to eat close by after getting some supplies and happened to walk into Wasabi. The server said I could customize and substitute my meal with only rice or only noodles or even double up or replace veggies etc. That flexibility is why I decided to dine here and just got 2 bowls of soup instead of the salad. The price was also great at $13.95 The large sake is only $6.99 but the small bottle for $3.99 was more than enough for both of us. It was a decent meal. I give 4* bcos they charge 75 cents for yum yum sauce. I didn't order any yum yum sauce but on principle I don't like restaurants that nickel and dime patrons. If you've never been to Ultimate Sushi in San Marco, then you'll love it. Shrimp tempura is served cold. Extra charges for stuff the other location doesn't charge for. They make your entire ticket of sushi before delivering it, so you sit around while everyone else eats. They need to just copy and paste what the San Marco location does and not try to do something else. We'd probably go back but honestly would rather drive a little further to the original location. The ribeye had a bit to much fat it was cut thin slices but was juicy and tender. Next time I'll order the filet. Last night me, my mother and my son went on a late night outing for some items at Ulta. We decided to stop by Wasabis since it had been a while since we had been there. To say the atmosphere overall of Wasabis was decent would be a lie. It was awful. As soon as I went inside, I automatically smelled marijuana and a horrible odor as if there was mildew everywhere. We were seated in the dining room as requested. As soon as we were seated it took approximately 10-15 minutes to be served, mind you, there were barely any people sitting in the dining area. When our server finally approached us, in the middle of him taking our order another server approached him with food for a table that was quite literally right next to our table. Like, why couldn't he hand it to the table instead of interrupting our server? After that was done, our waiter presented our sauces and drinks. We didn't see him anymore until the bill was being paid... We never seen our soups and salads, we were presented with barely warm food, dry rice and the shrimp were like rubber. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement and I will not be returning to this establishment. Wouldn't surprise me if this place doesn't get put out of business. It's seems to me they just hire anybody... disappointing and awful service. Also, might I add, as mentioned in other reviews, there was hair in my food. That's just gross. The edamame and miso soup were served hot with good seasoning. However the sashimi was subpar and all pieces were left thick. The flying roe nigiri was good however it's not a diff cult item to make. Overall the restroom was disgusting and needs an update and the interiors of the restaurant needs to be cleaned and wiped down with appropriate sanitizer. I guess go if you're in a pinch and want sushi otherwise save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Calm and quite little sushi place in a local north Jacksonville shopping center. You can chose where to sit and they have a paper with all their sushi, nagiri, and sashimi selections that you can hand to your waitress at the time of order. The establishment is clean and the service is decent. We had the fried gyoza and crab rangoons for appetizers. A glass of plum wine as well. Both are great choices! You can get gyoza steamed, but it's way better fried. They have both meat and vegetable options. We ordered the last Vegas roll, the dragon roll, and the rainbow roll for entrees. Everything tasted really good and the food came out very quick! We don't usually order things tempura but these were delicious and very large portions. It was hard to finish it all. Husband was a little disappointed in the katsu but otherwise a good meal. I did find the ambience to be a little weird as there was no music or anything playing. It was very quiet in the restaurant. For $7 you can get two of the basic rolls (California, cucumber, salmon, etc.) while the more complex rolls (Alaskan, spicy tuna, etc.) ran about $9 for two. I ordred the salmon and spicy salmon and the guy made it in two minutes. The salmon tasted pretty fresh but was just average overall. He would rush to the table with our food and reach across us with no warning, almost touched my wife's chest. He made it extremely difficult to order our food (that had hair in it) and had no idea what rice noodles were. The menu says rice noodles, not rice AND noodles. Some people cannot have gluten. We were absolutely pissed when we left. He could not remember who ordered what when we split the check into 2, and then got our cards mixed up immediately after handing them to him. It's been about a month since I ate here and it will be the last time ever. I love sushi but this place has tainted that for me. I can't remember what I ordered but it was 2 raw rolls and nigiri. It tasted good while I was eating but the next day while I was at work, I had used the bathroom 5 times before it was even 11am and by the end of the day probably about 12 times. It gave me severe diarrhea for the next 6 days and I promise that is not an exaggeration. At the peak of the illness their sushi gave me, I probably used the bathroom 20 times that day, which I didn't even know was possible. And it wasn't the kind of urge to use the bathroom that you could hold in til you got home. It didn't feel like regular food poisoning, maybe worms or something. I was absolutely miserable for 6 days with very active bowel movements, dehydration, fatigue, nausea, lightheaded ness and no appetite. Of the other pieces 2 were cooked shrimp, 1 fake crab stick.... so 8 of my 14 pieces were junk/filler. The Food was delicious! Fast and well cooked! I got the steak and shrimp Hibachi and my husband had sushi( Temp, Crazy, Cali, and the Jag.) ! He enjoyed every bite of the sushi. The soup was as stated by everyone, well made and delicious. My kids shared the shrimp hibachi (theirs came with about 5 shrimp), noodles, rice, veggies, and a side of soup. It's a exact replica of the adult version. I was worried about the steak being hard like other locations, but my medium well was cooked to perfection! I would definitely go back!! Came here with a bunch of friends Friday night. I was very impressed. Prices appear to be average for this type of restaurant, it was clean inside and smelled good. I did not realize soup was included when I ordered my dinner, so when the waitress said "Miso?", I said no, thinking she was asking if I wanted soup. Then, miso soup was delivered to the table and I was served the "clear" soup. Wow, great mistake, seriously, because if I had known, I would have asked for Miso and I am so glad I didn't. The clear soup was one of the best soups I have had in a while. Very flavorful broth with mushroom slices, scallions (green onions), and little crispy tempura bits. My friends laughed at me for going "Mmm" at almost every spoonful. It was simple, but delicious. We also received something along with the soup that we couldn't identify. It seemed to be something like a deep fried spring rolls perhaps? Not sure, can't find it on the menu, but it was very good. My friends all ordered meat & rice teriyaki type entrees along with sushi, but I had the Small Sushi Combination (Philly roll, California roll, Rock 'n Roll). Yeah, I'm still cautious about raw fish and this suited me perfectly. It was all very delicious and I enjoyed every bite. A friend ordered an "Air Force Roll" and shared and that was quite delicious too. The service was good, the waitresses were friendly and helpful. One warning though, if your drink runs low, every single waitress in the restaurant will stop by and try to refill it.
