I've always known about Saks Fifth Avenue, but had never actually been in one of their stores until the other day. I'm not at the income level to shop here regularly, however I was looking for some small gifts for the holidays and thought this may be a good place to check out. I was off from work and didn't feel like going to Manhattan, so I decided to drive to Greenwich to check this Saks out. The Saks in Greenwich is located on Greenwich Ave which is home to a number of other high-end retailers. There are actually multiple stores that make up Saks as a whole here - the main store which has women's items, The Vault, the Men's Shop (aka Barney's), and (I think) a women's shoe shop. I decided to first go into the Men's shop to see if anything spoke to me; immediately upon entry I noticed a SA sitting in the vestibule on the phone (she was loud, the call really should have been taken out of customer view/earshot). The merchandise is spread across two floors with a larger selection on the first floor and outerwear upstairs. I wasn't impressed with the merchandise - the selection was very sparse and there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of coats compared to other items. Customer service was a zero - nobody in the store acknowledged me or engaged me in conversation, and they barely made eye contact when they did. It was only after about 10 minutes the woman in the vestibule got off the phone and said hello to me. I was standing by the leather goods and all she said to me was that the items were genuine leather - as if I was assuming they were fake leather shopping at Saks? Whatever - I made one more lap and left. I decided to stop into the main store across the street, and had the same experience. No acknowledgement of my presence and a bunch of SAs standing around chatting. Overall, my experience at Saks in Greenwich was the pits. I really don't think my expectations are off here - I've shopped at other luxury stores before and have had excellent customer service. I know I don't look like a Real Housewife of Greenwich wannabe, but I'm also not a tourist who stumbled in from 5th Ave. Regardless, all customers should be treated with respect. If I ever patron Saks again it will be online, as their in-store experience (at least here in Greenwich) does not match their supposed reputation as a luxury retailer. read more

Although small (and spread out by department), this is likely to become our favorite Saks location given the incredible SAs here. I needed a Celine handbag, and it was so easy to call this location and find a very helpful, super polite SA named Kemi who was able to quickly locate what I needed so I could pick it up when I stopped by. I was also helped by a male SA who was equally as courteous and professional. I will definitely be switching over to Kemi and her associate as my regular SAs for Saks. If you're not white and look Uber rich and decked out, don't bother going in the store, it's not worth it. I get the reality of luxury shopping and commissions, but also think associates should act like human beings. I'm East Asian, I dress in low key designer - when I went into the store on the day in question, I was dressed in Khaite, LaLigne, Boucheron, Hermes, and my big fat diamond ring. An SA literally walked past me without asking me if I needed help, which I clearly did. This was after another SA looked me up and down to make sure it was worth answering my question on where to find a specific boutique and deemed an answer to that simple question worthwhile after spotting my Hermes bag. This is not the first or the worst treatment I've gotten from this location. It's worth noting that each time, it was a POC SA who came to the rescue and were Very kind. And judging by the other comments here, these aren't isolated incidents, but a toxic pattern. Saks, fire all your white blond haired associates and hire more people of color. I have been to the saks stores in Greenwich avenue many times and let me just say each time I am there I am treated terribly and have the worst experiences. As a younger customer they do not give me the time of day and do not treat me as a customer. They often ignore me, tell me to find someone else to help me or are just rude when they speak to me. The employees here are genuinely so rude. I now actively avoid going into these stores simply because of the terrible customer experiences I consistently have. read more

I placed a custom order for very high-end imported shirts exclusive to SFA. The order got botched so badly that what was quoted to me for 30 days to 60 days ended up being over 120 days. The communication that came from Saks to me was horrible even at the highest level which happened to be first to department manager and then the director of the men's store at Saks as a long-time customer of sacks who has spent an out rages amount of money, the refund process was botched as well. The person who issued the credit delegate it to somebody else who put it on a card that didn't even exist. The reason for my low rating is based on how poorly they handle both the order, the re-order and then the subsequent credit of my credit card. This just wasn't a local ticket item this was $3000 for four shirts. One with think that A high-end store like Sacks which is known for customer service, once you peel back the onion were a bunch of bumbling idiots. Based on my wife's response, the sales rep then attempted to charge us an extra $300 on the transaction claiming it was a luxury tax thereby defrauding the State of CT and us, then did credit card fraud on our card that we no longer had in our hands. This store is just poor, from the limited selection of merchandise to the rude salespeople. The sales women (particularly in the clothing downstairs) are wannabe Real Housewives of NYC. Their attitudes suck. I was in the store returning an item that I purchased online and what should have been a simple 2 minute transaction turned into a 10 minute ordeal. I was on my lunch break and I didn't have time to waste. When I asked what the issue was almost 8 minutes into the transaction, the lady rolled her eyes at me & made a face and said "computer issues." It's very unprofessional and uncalled for. Sales rep followed me around the entire store, inspecting items after I touched them followed by rude remarks about me wanting to exchange a pair of Christian Louboutins that didn't fit. My alma mater is awesome. Not only do they host alumni balls for us at the MoMA and the Museum of Natural History, but they also shut down Saks for two hours, give us wine, and let us shop. Alcohol + Dana + a room of Chanel bags = Danger. I was actually quite surprised with the selection at this particular Saks location. Granted, the windows are not as ornate as the ones on 5th Avenue (but then again, how many shop's windows ARE?), but the selection of perfume, accessories, and couture (the entire Chanel and Oscar De La Renta lines are available) is very impressive. Alas, this particular Saks location lacks an entire zip code dedicated to shoes. Two glasses of wine later and I was extremely close to purchasing some McQueen skull accessories and a bright purple Kindle case. But then I remembered that part of my alma mater being awesome is that my leverage ratio is somewhere around .9. Hmph. I haven't been to this Saks much, even when I lived nearby. The nearest Saks is and hour and a half away near Newport Beach. I was in CT visiting my family for the holidays. Three weeks ago, I stopped in about a half hour before closing to look at a few items in the cosmetics department. My last counter was the Dior one. I absolutely love Dior cosmetics. Of course shortly before closing in this small store, there were almost no staff members there. When I was at the Dior counter, a saleslady named Fran asked me if I needed help. Right when she asked me, I saw the Ruby eye shadow palette from the 2017 holiday collection. This product sold out nationwide faster than a blink of an eye, or so it seemed. Since it was still on display, I thought there was a chance they would have it. Hey, you never know unless you ask. Fran told me they had the shadow palette before checking. She then said, "Oops I lied. We don't have it." I was not surprised that the merchandise wasn't in stock, but I thought that was unprofessional & tacky to say something was in stock (without checking first), then trying to cover the mistake with a lie. I was nice about it an told her no biggie and asked if she could please do some research to see if she could find the palette. She said she was happy to do the research and would for sure call me the next day. I never heard from her or anyone else in the department. It has been weeks, and I doubt I'll hear from anyone. Very nice store, and a good addition to Greenwich Avenue. I don't have much use for it myself, as they don't carry men's. Perhaps with Richards down the street it is too redundant. However, they have a nice selection of items for gifts, and they carry the soaps I like downstairs. Everybody I have interacted with here has been amicable and helpful, especially when selecting gifts for others. I checked out their new stand-alone shoe store around the corner from the main store. The store itself is gorgeous - beautifully appointed, and a total shoe Mecca. Personally I don't spend a lot of money on shoes, and that day I was just looking for a cool pair of sneakers to wear on a trip. But the selection seemed amazing. As in the NYC store, the shoes are grouped by designer - Chanel, Manolo, etc. The experience was enhanced by my clerk, Mike. He was cool and helpful, and didn't act all huffy just because I was only there for sneakers. Plus you can't beat the side entertainment - a woman I had seen in the main Greenwich Saks had also made her way over to the new shoe store - in her stilettos and massive fur, in the rain - and was busy wafting all around the place making sure we all saw her (not) looking at the shoes.
