Stopped in for lunch, and I'm happy I did. I didn't dine in the restaurant due to a time crunch, but man, the food was prepared fresh, and it was delicious. I ordered the steak and chicken plate. As I walked in I counted 13 people waiting in the lobby for their food. I talked to a older gentleman who said he had been waiting 30 minutes for his food. I walked in and placed my order at 3:52 and the girl taking my order didn't even ask my name for the order. I ordered chicken and steak with veggies. I told people that were coming in that I've been waiting a long time for my food. I waited until 4:52 which at that time was a whole hour then approached the counter and demanded a refund. The girl that took my order never asked my name so they never had it for my order. A refund was given back to me so let's hope it goes back in my bank account. I will never go back again. This place is absolutely pathetic!!! They renovated the building but didn't give the workers common sense. I'm not surprised because common sense isn't so common anymore. P.S. I forgot to mention they closed the grill down because they said it had to cool off. I'm still not understanding why they did that. That's still no excuse not to have my food. read more

The food was pretty good. I thought it was a bit strange that I bought a second serving of yum yum sauce and used my debit card again. They charged me $1.00 for the sauce and 50 cents for using my debit card. The cashier was a little rude, but you get that a lot these days in fast food outlets. read more

This is my favorite go to in East Macon. The restaurant has went through some major renovations, but the quality of the food hasn't changed. The only complaint is the rising costs. Overall the food is really good, & their customer service is great. read more

In all honesty, my favorite thing about this place is the YUM YUM SAUCE that comes with the rice. It's so good. I use to always get at least 2 sauces with my dishes. The food here isn't bad at all, it's actually decent and pretty affordable for what you get. I just want to say maybe watch them as their making your food if at all possible and when you get you food make sure it's what you ordered. The service here isn't bad, they are pretty quick. If you ever go inside of this place it will look very familiar to you. To me it appears to be an old McDonalds, that was turned into Sakura. Call your order in if you don't have time to wait. We got take out & order was spot on! Food is fresher/better than original, which we only stopped eating bc of health rating:concerns. The portions are REALLY generous, still. Ok now I'm torn about this review but I have to do it so when u get a chance to go you know what to expect. First off let's talk food. It's is actually good and the hibachi style ranks up there with the beat of them but honestly, you can't really jack up hibachi unless under or over cook something. The sauce is all the flavor anyway. Letting the grill do it's thing is where they shine. And out of all the times I've been here I will say the food is consistent. Now lets talk service: 2 thumbs down. I mean... don't be mad because I can't understand you or God forbid, I'm trying to figure out what I want to order and it aggravates you. I don't like signing my card receipt and my arm is sticking to the counter or the lack of air freshener in here, really. Eat here but just enjoy the food get it to go as fast as you can order it and never sit or lean on much at all. Enjoy lol. read more

Ok so we get the covid 19 policies. But the little dude up front is such a confused fellow. He has a big childish attitude. We were waiting outside on our food and everyone was talking about the disturbed snot bubble blowing kid. Mom or dad really needs to spank, and teach this boy about customer service. This is a great place to order take out at. The food has always been cooked to perfection. When you first pull up to Sakura the outside is pretty run down. To be honest it looks pretty crappy. The inside isn't much better. The place is in sore need of an update. But their prices, and the food, are outstanding! I always order the shrimp and scallop rice with sweet carrots and broccoli. The seafood is always cooked to perfection, and the shrimp sauce is amazing. It's definitely one of the more hidden gems in macon, but worth it. read more

I would give this place five stars if they didn't take 30 minutes every time I came through the drive-through. I see people pull up and go inside and get food in 15 to 20 minutes and come out But the drive-through service here is just ridiculous. Most cars end up turning around and leaving behind me every time I'm in line because the wait that long. read more

Prepare to get excited all over again. A little baby was born in the ghetto and in his neighborhood was a Hardee's. That Hardee's closed down and was replaced by a Sakura. What a confusing atmosphere. When i got there I had to peek in, making sure they were even open. A few token Japanese decorations brought by the owner's family from the mother land or maybe it is just some stuff from Smiley's Flea Market. The seating consists of ancient Hardee's swivel chairs and orange booths. The eatery is run by the powerful and seldom seen Mr Sakura. Legend has it that in 1975 he had a knife fight with Eddie Wiggins over Kawasaki dealership rights. On a strip of east Macon American blithe, the old mammoth sign from Hardee's now features a faded Sakura logo. I think they opened up in the 90s when i was driving between from Milledgeville on a regular basis. That they are still open may be a testament to the food. This is no frills dinning at it's best. I mean the impression you get looking around is that you are doomed. The idea of a good meal is only a secondary priority to making it out of the hood alive. However, turns out there is a police house next door that has taken residence in an old... well I cannot, for the life of me, recall what now defunct eye sore on the Macon landscape occupied the building previously but it is next to Roses. I wondered what problems the police may have had in retro fitting the department store space so they could operate a modern high tech force? Just the logistics of getting internet piped in must have been fantastic! Do they use the left over retail displays to store guns and ammo? With proper lighting and eye level marketing those guns will fly off the shelf. Our order of Steak & Shrimp hibachi was finally reluctantly placed. The cashier had let out a sigh at our indecisiveness but I don't blame him. Plus, the emptied out area where the drive-thru cashier worked is now a hallow space occupying a mop and an extra grimy bucket. A place with almost no redeeming aesthetic qualities to speak of. I'd be sighing too. There is one giant exciting piece of information you can really use about this place. Sakura's food is on point, priced right and the yum yum sauce is from the moon. My wife's disappointment in the lack of sushi was transformed into a hibachi of joy after 2 bites. Go eat here now. Day trip into the hood. The building itself should be enough to deter people from visiting this restaurant because it is honestly kinda gross, but their food is just too good to keep people away. On top of that, they give you enough food to have leftovers for another day (or two) - which is why this is one of my favorite restaurants for when I'm too lazy to make my own lunch and dinner. The food is decent if you like hibachi style dishes. However, the place is pretty dirty and received a C (76) on their inspection. Last time I visited, I got to hear an employee talk down customers to the manager/owner. The manager/owner didn't seem to care and engaged in the conversation. From the conversation, apparently it is too much trouble for customers to phone in orders or to request separate checks. This place, and every other, should be thankful it has customers, and the employee should be thankful for them too, since without them there would be no need for her nor money with which to pay her. The cook? Well, I got to hear her cursing on the phone in a conversation with her mom. the manager/owner? No "thank you" and not very friendly. The bottom line is that I may not dine here again. If I do, it will be simply because the food is decent and the bill is usually only about $7. Otherwise, the cleanliness and customer service at this old Hardee's building turned Japanese hibachi quick serve are abysmal enough that I would rather pay more elsewhere. read more
