My first visit was on April 20, 2026. I'm on a recreational trip, headed toward California from Albuquerque. There is plenty of good parking and good signage. The staff was friendly and courteous. I was there for dinner on Monday night. I opted for the hibachi steak with shrimp. It came with a nice serving of grilled vegetables. There was a truly intriguing hibachi sauce that I was told is a vegetable purée that had just a hint of citrus. Prices are excellent. This is a tough one because we've been going there for close to 6 years. There has always been a turnover of employees there, for whatever reason. It's one of the only Sushi places in Kingman and we have mostly enjoyed eating there, in spite of an obvious lack of management. Tonight forced us to make a decision about whether or not we will be going back. Party of 7 of us. Waitress was nice enough. I ordered Sashimi and a bowl of rice. After a bit, half of us received our orders. Mine came, but it was Sushi, not Sashimi. I won't go into the differences but I let our waitress know it wasn't right. She took it back, no problem. After about 10, maybe 15 minutes, eveyone had their food but me. There was no communication regarding when I might expect my correct order, so, after eveyone was served I related to the waitress that she could keep my order. I didn't raise my voice. I wasn't happy, but stuff happens. She proceeded to tell me that I wasn't being nice and that, in fact, I was being unreasonable. There was no "give me a minute to take care of this for you, sir," there was no manager coming over to ask me what was up. It was just this entitled waitress putting me in my place. I wasn't happy but I let it go. Then the bill came. Tip was built in. Why would I tip for bad service? I complained. Another waitress jumped in. I tried to explain to her why I was upset. She asked me why I was yelling at her. No I am truly exasperated. I dropped it. Paid my bill (including the automatic tip) and left. While I was outside, a couple people in my party talked to one or both waitresses (I am not sure, I was outside). One of them related to the people in my party that I had grabbed one of the severs by the shoulders. Not sure what to think of this because, at no time, did I touch anyone. I clearly was not happy but I did not so so much as raise my voice. I just tried to explain my position. At this point, it's them against me. Not what you want if you're a business owner in Kingman. Which I happen to be. At NO TIME did a manager come over to try and straighten things out. I left, feeling like a jerk, for no reason. Will not be back there, ever. This is after being part of group that easily spent close to $300 every Wednesday. Sad that I felt like I had to defend my position. Won't be back. Ever. read more

I think they make the Chinese dishes with a slight Japanese twist, so they are not your average Cantonese. I've only had takeout here, but the staff is still pleasant and efficient. The decor is nice with plenty of seating. Its location on Stockton Hill is strip mall, away from the touristy Old Town Kingman. Been here several times now. I last had the Chirashi plate. So I usually love this place and haven't been here in years. However the bento box wasn't as delicious as I remember but what really got me was the waiter. Not only was he borderline rude but when I pointed at hot sake and he informed me they haven't had the large one for years I told him I would take the smaller one and he brought me cold sake instead. I asked him why he gave me cold sake and he stated you didn't ask for hot sake. Dude was not the best server but the sushi was the best out of the whole meal for us. Exceptional service. I AM SO SATISFIED!! There was a tall guy at the front desk on Saturday 9/13 around 6pm. I was not sure what I wanted so he asked me did I have anything in mind I told him. He then pulled out the specialty menu. I immediately knew I wanted shrimp, crab or lobster.... so the specialty meal came with all 3! I wanted that, ordered that and to my surprise for $40 bucks I was satisfied! The stuffed lobster tail had so much meat that alone filled me up. The sushi shrimp roll - "dont get me started" I mean to begin they are huge but there also packed with so much flavor. they were my absolute favorite!! I love this restaurant. Who could have guessed we would have a great Japanese/Chinese restaurant in Kingman AZ. I love the monkey brains appetizer and the Singapore Rice Noodles. We went to have lunch today and the waitresses were just talking and talking. We asked for a booth and one of the waitresses the heavier one said it needed to be cleaned. They continued talking and talking and ignoring us. The place was not busy. I told her that I was going to go ahead and clean the booth because no one cleaned any of the empty booths. There were four available And not one of them were clean. After I told her I would clean the booth, she rolled her eyes and she left to the back while rolling her eyes. I had somewhat low expectations (don't ask me why probably location) but it was actually really good. I do not know what I was thinking. I guess I was just craving sushi really badly. Sakura is a Chinese and Japanese restaurant, and it is the only sushi spot in Kingman. Kingman is a small city in the desert nowhere near an ocean. Considering these factors, do not be surprised if the seafood is not fresh. The menu consists of sushi, hibachi, bento, and rice and noodle dishes. There are a lot of options on the menu. Everything is reasonably priced, and there are lunch specials as well. I came for lunch on a summer day. It was slow so the service was really quick. I ordered a rainbow roll and a Golden Valley roll, which is a fried California roll topped with masago, scallops, and tuna. The portion sizes were reasonable, and the rolls did not skimp on the seafood. The California roll was okay. However, the rolls were killed by the seafood on top not being fresh. Maybe the sushi is fresh whenever the delivery day is, but I do not recommend getting sushi here. I would not get sushi here again, but I assume and hope that the non-seafood and cooked items taste better. read more

We are immediately sat and later asked for our drinks. Which seems odd, since that's the first thing asked when seated. Hostess is very sweet and I see there's only one server besides her. Not a good sign. It only takes 5-minutes to receive our drinks and soups. The miso is standard and good. There's nothing like an ice cold drink of water. It took a total of 15-minutes for the bento box lunch. Ice cold lettuce with ginger dressing. The fried rice is average and the sushi is good. The tempura shrimp is breaded with panko crumbs, with no tempura batter. Not good. Great tempura dipping sauce. I am disappointed in seeing a lady (manager/owner) talking with the sushi chef while a table behind me waits a half hour for the food. The server continued to apologize for the long wait, but whoever the lady was, should have helped out, cook or apologize. Very disappointing to witness. It's clear the management does not help the floor staff with anything. I saw no efforts to help the only food server and hostess working. Our server never cleared our table, so they sat there even after we left. Restaurants are always short staffed. Either a no show, or no employee at all. Just got into town and asked our hotel about good restaurants in the area they recommended this Japanese restaurant. We love Japanese food. We were excited to have a nice dinner after a long drive. Walking in the door the gentleman at the front never gave eye contact as he grabbed the menus to seat us. That felt odd. We didn't feel the warm welcome vibe. Our server was so rushed that half the time we we were still trying to talk to him as he rushed off to the next table. Nice enough guy though. I had to return the Tuna Roll ($6.75) it was really a joke they were the size of dimes! In the attached photo they look larger, in person, trust me on this, they are tiny!! My husband ordered the beef and broccoli which is very mediocre. Our server never came by once to our table to ask if everything was ok, or if we needed anything. Unfortunately, it was not a good dinner, or experience. We quickly paid our tab and walked out as fast as we could to get out of there. Was definitely not worth the $45 that we spent! Called and spoke with Amber and she kindly offered to replace the items on the next order plus 50% off the total. Called in an order today and was treated rudely by the manager Macey, who hung up on me. I drove in and placed the order with a worker and they made me wait an hou, only to discover it was missing the fried rice and salad while it took another 10 minutes to "wait for the rice " all the while the Manager Macey was babysitting her Two children at a corner table and neglecting customers. She did make sure to walk by me and laugh and give me dirty looks. I have been patronizing Sakura since they first opened, but from here on they will not receive one penny more from me! If I were basing this review solely on the food, it would be one star. The service was fast and friendly, so I will give a star for that. We're a mostly Asian family, and while not Asian myself, I lived in Asia for a decade married into family of very good cooks, speak one Asian language and understand some of another - so when I say the food was awful, I know what I'm talking about. My daughter had sushi, which she described as being no better than what you can get in a supermarket. I had what they try to pass off as teriyaki chicken, but let me tell you: the person who cooked it has never eaten teriyaki chicken, been taught to cook it, or probably even seen it. That was *not* teriyaki sauce, the chicken was overcooked, thin, dry breast meat. Teriyaki chicken should be made with thigh meat, and if you use breast meat you have to be really careful with it. The miso soup and the chicken were both very heavily salted; they seem to use salt to cover up lack of skill and lack of quality ingredients. That never works. They don't even know how to cook rice. I wish I was making this up (making good rice is harder than you may think, but not rocket science. The rice was dry and tasteless. The former is the fault of the cook, the latter the fault of buying low-quality rice. The salad - surprisingly, considering how bad everything else was - was actually pretty good. Bottom line: if you want Japanese food, learn to make it yourself, or go to Vegas or Phoenix. Don't eat here, or you will be sorry. We live in Kingman, have been to the restaurant a few times. The last time was a few months ago, we decided not anymore. I always order shrimp tempura. The shrimp that arrived at our table had been halved lengthwise, dipped in beer batter, not the light crisp texture of the tempura I'm used to. Remembering I am in Kingman, I ordered a Philly Roll and friend ordered Salmon and Tuna Rolls. Had to send them back due to awful fishy smell it all had. Definitely bad fish! Also had Sesame Chicken, which was ok but covered in a think orange colored sauce sprinkled with sesame seeds. It was ok. Rice was a bit dry. Friend had Spicy Thai Basil chicken which had unbreaded chicken, which is good! It was average in taste, a bit greasy, and was medium spicy. First off the service was great, very welcoming, clean atmosphere. Now for the food it was AMAZING!!! We had regular edamame and it was seasoned perfectly from the first one to the last one. We had the 3 piece sashimi octopus and tuna, the cuts were nice sized and the plate was beautiful. I had the Mongolian beef lunch plate with hot and sour soup and fried rice. The soup was delicious veggies still had a slight crisp to it and very well seasoned. Salad was fresh and dressing was amazing. Fried rice and Mongolian beef were very well seasoned. I've a soft spot for Japanese food and Sakura Sushi & grill impressed me during my drive along Route 66. I dropped by Kingman, AZ from Williams with my family and friends. We intended to grab a lunch quickly and spare more time for Hoover Dam. So we chose Sakura among the top options listed for lunch on yelp. Located along the avenue, it's easy to spot the one-floor building with Sakura logo. There is such a spacious parking lot that if not, you could also park in front of the CVS next door. We didn't wait to be seated as a group of six and ordered our bentos quickly. The bento box allowed us to select a sort of "entree" (teriyaki or habachied) and a type of rolls. It also comes with soup, rice, fruits, and salad, a healthy combo for even a fast lunch. Though the salmon is grilled crispy and salad fresh, I couldn't finish the entire bento box because of the portion. But it's a nice choice of comfort even for a quick meal on your drive. read more

Every time we come here, we swear we'll never be back. Then a few months go by and we try it again only to be disappointed. One huge complaint is how stingy they are with nigiri; slices so thin you can see through them! Also...There are two full pages of lunch specials but not available on Saturday. I guess people don't eat lunch on weekends. My wife can't take norie. She can eat soy paper, and Sakura has it available but one time, the sushi maker refused to make it for her even when we offered to pay extra. No substitutions! Our last time, I ordered unagi-don. It was $22.95...pricey and I left hungry. The waitress we had the last time (and it will be the last time!) was overheard offering apologies to the other tables around us. We felt sorry for her. Kingman would be an excellent town to open another Japanese restaurant. read more
