Having driven across a couple of states and eating lots of burgers along the way, hubby wanted something different. So glad to find Sakura Teriyaki House! Simple set up and is clean. Fast service too. Hubby got the beef and chicken with rice and veggies and I got shrimp with rice and veggies. The beef, chicken, shrimp and veggies are all freshly stir-fried just for you. The sauce which is poured onto everything afterwards can be a bit too sweet for some. So if you do not have a sweet tooth or want less "sugar", remember to ask for less or no sauce. I-80 stretches on and on, so you really have to stop every so often just to get out, walk around a bit, and grab a bite to eat. The old man to whom I'm married raised an eyebrow when I read what I'd found about this place on Yelp. But he knew better than to argue. The teriyaki was tender and tasty, and the spring rolls were very good. I'd prefer my spring rolls have avocado, but that's not an option. We will be visiting this place any time we're in Kearney. I'm not a person who typically leaves reviews, we ordered through DoorDash, which said that it was preferred by the restaurant owner. DoorDash had extremely inaccurate descriptions of the dishes. When we went back to talk to the restaurant, the manager wouldn't even come across the restaurant to talk to us. When we tried to explain the issue so that it could be fixed he again yelled across the restaurant that there was nothing he could do... terrible service. Ten minutes after we left, the description was changed on DoorDash. Obviously there was something he could do. We drive through Kearney on a regular basis, but will never go back to this restaurant. Stopped in for lunch and had the shrimp teriyaki. The meal came with good portions of rice, vegetables, and shrimp. There was so little teriyaki sauce, to me it was more grilled shrimp and rice. The jasmine tea was more like water. Not a place I will come back to. read more

This place was a surprise hit while passing through Kearney. Nothing fancy. Just good grub. Teriyaki chicken was like an upgraded version of Sarku Japan's (which is delicious, btw), and you get a lot for what you pay. Service was friendly and fast and the food was fresh and flavorful. Pretty reasonable teriyaki restaurant that is what you expect. Lot of food, good value, tasty flavors. I'd recommend asking for a bit more sauce and my favorite is the chicken. These restaurants won't ever be a 10/10 experience but I think they are good options to switch it up from your normal rotation. read more

I agree with Dave - not enough sauce! It seems like these guys lightly coat the meat during the grilling process but that's about it! The chicken didn't seem fresh and the beef was just OK--decent portion of rice and the veggies weren't bad--but just didn't understand the ravings reviews about this place--I didn't think it was that good at all read more

Quick and good food. Very easy to pick up and go. Chicken teriyaki was definitely delicious.

I was looking for good quality Asian food that's cheap and fast - and this is the place! I got the chicken/steak teriyaki with fried rice and veggies. The veggies are optional and consist of steamed cabbage, carrots and broccoli. Mushrooms are also optional. If you want them they are cooked with your meat on the grill, made to order. It's a huge portion (especially for the price) so I used it for 2 meals! The place was empty when I got there, but the staff was extremely quick to greet me and my food was ready super fast. There are tables to eat in, but I took it to go. This will definitely be part of the food rotation here! read more
