Everything tasted good so I'll start with that, but I did feel we were coming to the end of just about every item they had available so it was a lot of scooping and scraping to see what was left to make up our salads. The inside is extremely brightly lit, it definitely feels like a mostly to go situation even though there are tables. The staff were friendly. I went because I was craving a good salad and I kept passing by this place saying that I would try it one day. I finally did and I was NOT disappointed. They have sanitizer and gloves for you to put on while making your salad. All of the ingredients were fresh and the salad was so good. I also tried the potato soup and it was good too. Salad Station is the newest restaurant in West Mobile, and their food is delicious! The layout of the restaurant is similar to a grocery store salad bar. That is, all of the toppings are laid out buffet style, and you are charged per ounce at the end. So, you can make whatever type of salad that you want, and you are charged based on how much you take. What sets Salad Station apart from other places, though, is that they have a wide selection of toppings. They have almost any type of vegetable, fruit, dressing, and anything else you could want on a salad. They also have a small hot bar section, which includes food that you can also top with various toppings. These other things include chicken, soup, and baked potatoes. I really enjoyed my visit here, and I will certainly be back again. The place was very clean, and I was able to get the best salad that I've had in quite awhile. I am SO disappointed to write this! So I'll start with the positives. Their salada are delicious. But ordering is dangerously inconsistent. On two separate occasions, I ordered the Caesar with a request to sub croutons for cheese crunchies because I have special diet/food intolerance. The first time, I got croutons. Not a huge deal. I picked them off and called to inform the staff. They were super chill and shared that a manager had an emergency and left two new staffers who may not have seen my request. Fair enough. Understandable. Today I ordered the same salad with the same request. I got a completely whole different menu item, with even MORE of the offending food bc they turned my salad into a wrap. This second mistake wouldn't have been so bad if the person who answered when I called wasn't so defensive/unhelpful. First, she points out that I requested cheese crunchies instead of croutons. Yes. True. That doesn't explain how my salad is now a wrap, full of croutons. So...I have a wheat intolerance and now what? I point out that this is the second time in a row this has happened. And advise that people *could* have much more serious food allergies so they need to take the notes seriously! She says she can make a salad if I can come pick it up. I'm at work. So no thanks. Really. This is about excuses and potential danger. Food allergies/intolerances are no joke. I made the request and indicated the severity and twice it's completely overlooked. Hands DOWN the best salad bar/buffet ever. Never in my life have I been to a place that has such a variety of toppings. I can't think of a single thing they're missing! From all the fruits, veggies and a great selection of meats.. I think I even saw crab and shrimp! Not to mention, the variety of dressings!! THERE. ARE. SO. MANY! Maybe other places don't offer such a variety because it's so hard to choose... well here, you don't have to!! You make a salad/wrap with everything your heart desires. The warm chicken is delicious and so is the buffalo chicken. Like I've said, so many delicious dressing options, I went with the sensation. One of the best dressings I've ever had. Also their strawberry lemonade was amazzzzing! There are warm options as well, like chicken breast and soup, not really sure how that plays into pricing. It says that you can make salad or wraps, I didn't see any wraps available so I'm not sure how that works. My only recommendation is that there needs to be more space by the register for guests to set their trays of food, because if you are weighing multiple items plus trying to pay in addition to trying to balance your tray on the small space they currently have.. it's kind of a recipe to wear your food. Great topping selection for a salad shop. They boast over 100 toppings. The food was fresh and the health rating was a 95. They have also a "hot bar" with roasted chicken, soups and potatoes that is 5.50 a lb. the sale bar is 7.50 a lb. my wife and I were somewhat conscious of not getting too much as we were warned. I've visited here a few times so far and really feel that I have a well developed opinion on this place. First off the workers are all very much welcoming! All the workers are wearing gloves and masks and are happy to help you. The food was pretty good and the price you pay is by the pound. You'd be surprised how much a pound of salad looks like so don't worry, you're not going to be spending too much. The only issue I've had with this place is each time I've been the sweet tea is sour or old. My first visit to The Salad Station. The girls behind the counter were so helpful. They explained everything that I needed to do and told me about all of their items. One of the really great things that I appreciate is that customers have to use hand sanitizer before they start. Thank you! They also have small 'tasting' cups that customers can taste items to see if they like them before putting it in their salads. I'm gonna try their Baked Potato Bar next time! They also have a hot bar and soup. My large Chef's Salad was only $5.60 WITH tax! Not bad for a good quality salad! We visited The Salad Station for the first time last night. I liked the wide variety of things you can put on your salad, and everything seemed to be fresh. My boyfriend's salad and mine were both fairly tasty, though he was very upset that the small gherkin pickles he put on his salad turned out to be sweet instead of dill. Who makes sweet gherkins?? He REALLY hates sweet pickles, so this was a big deal. We both got soups--chili for him and broccoli cheddar for me--and they were both good. In fact, I think my soup was the best thing I had. I appreciated that ingredients for the soups were posted right next to them. Speaking of labels, on the salad bar, some of the items had labels, and a lot didn't. I think this is an opportunity to do better. The biggest opportunity, though, was in cleanliness. The floor was dirty, the tables were dirty, every trash can was full or overflowing, and the salad dressing station was really gross. Definitely hope they can turn things around on the cleanliness front. Also, it is super weird that they close at 7:30 PM. However, while we were eating, I saw three different groups of people walk in the door after 7:30, and they weren't turned away, so I guess it's not a hard limit. Weird. read more

I was glad to read the reviews before I went so I was trying not to fill my salad bowl too much. The bowls are quite generous, so with filling mine just about 2/3 full, it was about $7 for my salad. Of course, it also depends on what you put in there. A pound of pasta salad is smaller than a pound of spinach leaves. So many toppings! From taco meat and warm chicken, to corn salsa and guacamole, it's all in there. My favorite part was the variety of salad dressings. Nearly every salad bar in Mobile has a dozen varieties of ranch and not much else. You are lucky if they give you one Italian. This place has a multitude of different vinaigrettes and non-ranch dressings. Perfect for me. I really didn't do more than glance at the "hot bar". It looked fine, but wasn't what I was there for. I did have a half-cup of soup. It was decent but not outstanding. My salad, soup and a drink were $10 total and very filling. I can see how people go overboard. Went back today for the first time since right after they opened. All the salad fixings were fresh and tasty. The thousand island dressing (our favorite) was not good at all. Waay too sweet and thick. There was barely enough iceberg lettuce for our two salads. I assume they put some more out after we cleaned the bowl. The girl that checked us out was definitely not "Miss congeniality". She was actually rather rude. All in all it was ok but not overwhelming. I have had better salad bars.
