My wife and I were sitting home a few weeks ago and decided we wanted to try something different for lunch. Benja's is fairly close to home, and seems to be priced on par with other places like this. My wife was definitely set on sushi, and when she decides on something, it's kind of a short form miracle, so I just go with it at that point, because it's kind of a rare thing. Now, I've been on a Pad Thai kick lately, having tried it from a few different places (this being the third), so I decided on it, while my wife went with the Fried Alabama Roll. I drove up there and ordered the food, and goofed around taking selfies with the decor while I waited for them to prepare it. The woman who took my order seemed nice, but it's difficult to gauge personality when you're ordering take-out. The food was ready pretty quickly, and I took it home, and we ate it. My wife really enjoyed her Fried Alabama Roll and said that the seafood tasted fresh, while the outside was nice and crunchy, just the way she likes it. She said the sauce was good and not overpowering like it is at some places. My Chicken Pad Thai was ridiculously delicious! It had the perfect amount of everything, and fed me for two meals, which I feel really adds to the value of the meal. I really love the peanuts in it as it adds to the texture and flavor, and it wasn't overly greasy. The chicken was nice and tender, and they prepared it with no spice, as I requested. Yeah, I'm wimpy when it comes to spiciness. It's the best local Pad Thai I've tried. Yeah, I'll definitely try this place again when I'm in the mood for Pad Thai. read more

Another successful visit although we are still purplexed why most people get take out, drive trhou, door dash, etc., instead of eating in the dining room. We started with fried pork dumpling, that came out hot, crispy, and very tasty. Next we had the pad thai chicken and I had the pad thai beef. Both were piping hot and full of flavor. I've eaten here a few times and really like the food however. We drove all the way across mobile in my husbands semi to eat before driving 45 mins back home which was a bit of a pain but my husband knows I like the food there. Anyways we get there and they say we can't eat inside. Take out only. Stopped by the new location for a to go lunch and I was surprised how nice it is inside. It looks like they have counter service and sit down. I got the spicy crawfish fried roll and a ginger salad. I could go on all day about how much i love this place. I have had anything i havent liked! My favorite is the mango sticky rice and the peanut sauce with the summer rolls is perfect. The establishment was very clean, which is very much appreciated. The service was good. I was a little confused because she walked up to take my order at my table but I had to pay right away. It was during my lunch time, and I told her I wanted to put my order in to get it started since my lunch time was limited, but I was waiting for a friend so I could put their order in too. I ran my card for my order, then when my friend arrived and put their order in I ran my card again and then I ordered extra rice and ran my card a third time. The only thing I will order there now is the Tom Kha soup (mushrooms) which you can get shrimp or chicken added. The chicken is overcooked and I find myself fighting to get to the delicious mushrooms and soup. Total take away. Tonight, I ordered the soup, clearly NO MEAT, got home and a full bowl of chicken tom kha. My husband ordered a few other things, which I already vetoed, and even he was disappointed. Horrible customer service and inedible food. The "catfish" is NOT catfish probably swai which is not worth $12.95. We always order the same dishes and did not get what we ordered. We ordered 3 crispy catfish CURRY and got 3 crispy catfish instead. Called and they blamed us! The crispy "catfish was extremely bland overcooked and served with unseasoned steamed vegetables and white rice for some reason as there's no sauce for the rice to go with. I have honestly never tasted anything so bland in my life and coming from a Thai restaurant it's shocking. I've had better hospital food. Take your business to Three Flavors, Bangkok, or Sabai Thai. This restaurant has become one of our absolute favorites. We order out from here more than I'd like to admit. We like to call it in about 30 minutes ahead of time so everything is ready for pick up. We are always so pleased and ridiculously excited to get our "Benjas fix". A couple of our favorites are the Crispy Chicken with the white rice upgraded to fried rice. Also the Vegetable Pad Thai. My husband and I split our entrées because oh my goodness that crispy chicken on the Pad Thai is oh so good. I started thinking I would never be able to find a good Pad Thai around but Benjas is just right for me. Four spicy stars with extra lime and I'm in heaven. Never go here!!!!!! I ordered some mild red curry through dapper delivery, and this food was so hot it was inedible! It made me gag! I called them to try to get a refund or replacement, and they said that's just how they cook. All the liquid at the top is so hot that I couldn't take more than one bite! Excellent!! Stayed in Mobile for the night on a road trip. Decided to go after reading Yelp reviews. We both ordered pad Thai. I ordered with tofu and my husband ordered with chicken and both spice level III. We both like that there is a tad of extra sauce in the pad Thai than in most places. We would go OUT OF OUR WAY to stop here again! We also enjoyed a glass of wine and beer. The service was very friendly and the food was delivered quickly and piping hot! It must be a great local place because we saw several food delivery services come in for pick ups while we were there. read more

Went here for lunch today and it was so nice, it was around 12:30 and not overly busy, to start out there was only one other couple in the dining area but quite a few people in the drive thru line. I had some time to kill so that's why I went in to sit down and eat, then as I was there eating three more couples walked in and they were all seated immediately just like I was. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly, the inside of the restaurant is sparkling clean, the food was delicious and reasonably priced! Definitely would go back. Me and my boyfriend ordered from this place and will never order here again. This place is awful. The sushi isn't tempura fried, my fried rice was not fried rice at all. It was like the cook took white rice scrambled it with a egg and just put it in the box. It had no color or flavor what so ever. The Thai noodles had this weird taste to it. I know all restaurants are different but these noodles just thad a different seasoning to them. The best thing I had was my cucumber/crab salad.
