Aimless Thursday and a long line out the door..let's stop for pasta. This place was packed and seemed like a good local following, younger local kids working and seemed like everyone really cared. We had two pasta dishes, a chicken parmigiana. Both were good and decent flavor. The pizza my son had was less than impressive on flavor and cheese quality but was by no means bad. I'd classify this place like a basic Italian pasta house. I'd go here to scratch the itch for pasta but it wasn't anything we'd crave. Don't avoid it but don't expect to be wowed. read more

We wanted to try a pizza place that we haven't been to before and decided on Salamone's. We weren't disappointed nor were we amazed with the food. To eat at the restaurant, you have to walk around to the back, because the front is the bar - kinda misleading - small sign is posted. The ambiance is nice, kinda loud though for a Wednesday evening. Our waitress was great! Very attentive and speedy service. Our pizza looked really good, but seemed to miss some spice. We come to town about twice a year and every time we do we order pizza to go from Salamone's. It's of course hot and fresh ... but it's also generously topped with a crispy well-cooked crust. An unexpected gem in a small town. Family owned, clean, classy, friendly service, fast turn around. Food was pretty great, too! Husband had cheese ravioli with marinara. I had Rina's ravioli which is portobello ravioli with scallops and shrimp in a white wine sauce. My portion was a little on the smaller side, the sauce was cream-based which I hadn't expected, but taste was great and I wanted more when I was done. Loved that the table already had a black pepper grinder, cheese, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and crushed red pepper on it- signs of a real Italian place, IMO. 5-Star curbside carryout. Wife had chicken parm and mine was seafood fettuccini (shrimp, scallops and lobster) - just as tasty as eating it inside the restaurant. Big menu to choose from - chose from their website menu and called it in. Definitely coming back for more of our favorites. read more

I love the pizza from here, I've had all kinds and they are the delicious. I even tried the taco pizza which was basically a massive taco salad with Doritos; delicious but messy. I was extremely surprised with this place! I was happy to enjoy toasted ravioli, If they would have been stuffed with meat, then I would have been extremely satisfied. This was My First Time Here at Salamones Pizza, We were very pleased in the reception that we got. 7pm Saturday night We did have a slight wait, but they have a very nice bar that was comfortable and well lit with several big screens. The Cubs were losing to the Sox so Sad! Debbie Ordered the Lasagna with Meat Sauce and I Had the Chicken Piccata w/capers. Both of us ordered side soups. We live in Cherry Valley so we go to Salamone's often. The steaks are superb! The lasagna is one of the best I've tasted! Portions are generous. Homemade soups are delicious! Service is great. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. The food tasted great and the flavors were good. We started with the artichoke spinach dip and enjoyed the big portion size. The flavors were delish. - not too much of any one ingredient and very cheesy. The dinner salad was spinach and arugula, cherry tomatoes, shredded corn and cukes with a homemade ranch dressing full of nice flavors. Don't forget the warm, yeasty Italian rolls and butter - as many as you like and refills were offered regularly throughout the meal. Finally, I had the rigatoni with sausage and a side of meatball and my husband had the Taste of Italy. We were not disappointed. Big portions, full of flavor, meat in every bite and very fresh. I grew up in Cherry Valley and have eaten Salamone's all my life (I knew it before it was a hot spot in town). The restaurant is owned by an Italian family, so all of the recipes are authentic and family owned. Their meatballs are awesome, lasagna is to die for (it easily feeds 2 people) but their pizza is my favorite. I have since moved out of state and wish they could ship pizzas. The place can be pretty busy on the weekends and the bar side can get noisy, so I sometimes like the dining side better. Lots of TV's for those who want to catch sports games. It usually doesn't take too long to get seated. I've never had a bad experience. Everyone is friendly, the owners will sit down and chat with you, and the servers have always been prompt and kind. Whether you're a regular or just visiting the valley, I recommend you make a pit stop here. read more

Visited a year ago and had the best chicken marsala I've ever had. Paper thin, buttery, melted in your mouth with a sauce that was perfectly marsala-y and the roasted broccoli was superbly garlicky. Fast forward a year (pictures on the menu?)... meh. Thicker, dry chicken with a sauce that was not at all marsala-y; flour tasting and more like gravy with flavorless under-roasted broccoli. First of all, can I say Downtown Cherry Valley is so quaint? And Salamone's is a staple here. The ambiance inside the restaurant is a mix between a saloon and restaurant, where the lights are dimmed so you can't dwell on all the pizza you're inhaling. That being said, the Mediterranean pizza was delicious! The combination of pesto and artichoke on pizza is a great combination. The only thing I thought was off was that the pizza crust seemed too salty; my friend ordered a spinach and green pepper stuffed pizza which had salty dough, although most of the stuffed pizza's I've had seem to have salty crusts. It didn't sit as well with the Mediterranean. Hopefully it was simply an error. If you like stuffed pizza, they have great varieties, although be warned, you might enter a cheese coma. Whether you're doing carry out or dining in, Salamone's offers nice varieties that'll make you forget commercial pizza. read more

This restaurant has great food but they take you for a ride with the draft beer. A tall is a dollar more than the short, but when you pour the short into the tall glass, there is only one inch or less difference to the rim. What a scam! Stick to the short, people! Ambience was nice, except for the deafening noise. Nicely decorated, clean, and well maintained. Service was friendly, personable, and fast - perhaps a bit too fast since we received our soup & salad before we finished our appetizer. Everything was great - Brushetta, clam chowder, salad (very fresh), fried shrimp, and fries (some of the best fries around) - but I can't recommend the fried cod which was greasy and had the consistency of mush.
