I was told she could take care of some forms for me in the first visit, I was charged 330 dollars and she said everything looked fine and asked my to come back later to sign something and when I went back the forms were filled out saying I had a chronic problem because of a seizure 5 years ago and I haven't had one since. I have been a patient here for many years. Never been happy with them but it has become far worse in recent years. They are all about money and not patient care. They recently moved away from the more universal Mychart and implemented their own version. What a nightmare that has been. They lost records and I can't even work with them. I decided to start using a private lab because they offer substantialy more tests for significantly less money. Why should I be forced to use their lab? I assume they didn't like this because they absolutely refuse to load the results into their version of Mychart, despite me calling many times and providing them the results twice. I mailed them and delivered in person because they refused to accept them electronically or download them from the lab. Last visit they told me at least three times they are a business and eventually refused to see me as a patient. Keep in mind I owe them nothing so it is not a billing or payment issue. Go anywhere else if you can. They are horrible. read more

This review is for Salem Clinic Imaging, Union at Capital Streets. Check in was good. The tech was friendly and efficient. The Tech who actually performed the mri exam was unfriendly, impatient and unwelcoming. He demanded I wear his uniform while past experiences at same clinic were not near as strict. I specifically wore clothes with no metal in them but that still didn't work for him. Everything was rushed to the point the tech gave me no time to prepare once on the table. He immediately activated the sliding table before I could put a mask on or ear plugs. The exam was very loud especially because the tech rushed me into the exam room and would not allow me the chance to grab my own ear plugs. The foam earplugs they provide are a complete joke and do not filter the excessive noises emitted by the mri machine. I would think some engineer would make a ton of money if they could devise a noise filter or at least a feature to turn down the head pounding noises. read more

I tried for almost 2yrs to get a Dr at Salem Clinic and there were no openings for new patients. I happened to call one day and was told they were accepting new patients. The scheduling clerk I talked with went thru what I was looking for in a dr, asking questions, making suggestions. I was extremely pleased with this part. Finally decided on Dr Skelding. All I can say is WOW! First visits my appt was late but he came into the exam room carrying my file from my old dr. He had read it. Said he would like to go over it with me. Made several suggestions to try and asked that I keep him informed thru My Chart. He didn't rush me. My appt lasted about 30 minutes with a return in 3 months for follow up. So far I am very pleased with this DR. He is knowledgeable and seems to care about my well-being. I look forward to seeing him at my next appt. read more

I had an apt with OB dept. The front desk staff, Autumn, is knowledgeable and nice. Dr. Phillips med nurse/assistant was thorough in finding out why I was there and background history. I didn't feel rushed, which was nice. Dr. Phillips has great knowledge and made me feel at ease. Dr. Phillips made sure to check all my history and listen to any current concerns I have. I went there to get labs done and I anticipated a long wait. about an hour goes by and in the time 13-20 people are coming in and out. I'm getting passed up by all these people. Im watching the dr who is writing up the orders placing new folders behind several folder that's have been sitting there. when I asked reception for clarification they basically told me they were is nothing they can do, that I may be getting passed up. out of frustration I said well this is bullshit. Salem Clinic has the worst customer service in the history of the world. The do not care about the needs of their customers. I have called multiple times and forced to leave messages on voice mail for a person that doesn't take phone calls and doesn't have the courtesy to speak to me directly. They expect me to leave several voice messages and then instead of talking with me directly leave a very curt and insensitive message saying that they won't let you change providers. Meanwhile my doctor was offended that I requested a certain prescription of a medicine he refuses to prescibe that has been used by over four billion people nationwide successfully. Instead of talking to me about it like an adult, he told me to find another doctor. The inept customer service worker said to call back in the summer or fall--9 months to a year from now. Use them as an example of how NEVER to treat your customers or another human. They are a great example of what NOT to do. We wouldn't want to inconvenience them, which is their highest priority--making thing convenient for themselves. It's all about them and the customer is trash. read more

Worst medical care I have EVER received in my lifetime. Sprained my ankle while out of town Of the clinics in the area my Insurance would only cover a limited few. I went with Salem clinic even though it was over a 30min drive away because I though a bigger town/city was better than a smaller clinic. I WAS SO WRONG. From checkin to the time I left, my experience was terrible. 20-30min to check me in because they were training someone; I'm standing up on a throbbing foot in pain. I wait my turn, a nurse checks me in then the Dr. arrives. She's in and out of the room in less than 10mins. She asks me why I'm there. I tell her I fell down some stairs. She pokes at my foot a couple times says she's going to take an X-ray of my ankle only. I told her I have pain on the top of my foot, she disregards. I tell her I've sprained it before, it took 8 weeks to heal and had to get a cortisone injection and now I'm a flight attendant and I'm concerned about the pressure changes and wearing heels. I asked how long I need to be off work. The Dr asks me how long I think I need?! Last I checked the Dr is the person I come to to get medical advice. Eventually we negotiated that I should be off for a week. I ask if I needed a boot, her response was "we have boots" but no recommendations if I need one or crutches. I'm confused and appalled and forgot to ask any other questions because I feel like I'm not getting any medical advice from this person. She leave without telling me about after care or pain management and said she'd email my discharge instructions. A nurse came in so I asked her about pain meds she gave me some generic response and sent me to get an X-ray. I tell the X-ray tech about my terrible experience and she apologizes. By the time I'm done with X-ray I'm not comfortable with my exam and ask to be seen by a different Dr. I'm told to wait because there is another clinician there. A but later I'm I'm told I can't see that Dr because their policy is one exam a day and that I can come back the next day. I told them I'm not from there, I'm not close-by and I don't want to come back. I just want a second opinion by someone while I'm here because I don't think the other Dr was thorough, she barely did anything and gave me no medical advice. I told them I shouldn't have to pay for medical care I didn't receive and have no problem paying for my X-ray but the "appointment" wasn't an appointment it was me telling a Dr what my treatment should be. I left without a second opinion, no discharge instructions and a two sentence dr's note. They told me to call some lady in patient relations. I called and left a message requesting an exam fee waiver explaining my experience. We played phone tag for a couple months because she never answers her phone. I called the clinic again because I never received discharge instructions they tell me it's the apps problem n theirs. Never got my discharge instructions and no follow up care call. I spoke to patient relations lady, she tells me the medical director viewed the notes and they look fine so I have to pay. I told her I never even got discharge instructions and explained what happened and asked to speak to a supervisor or the medical director. She gave me some other lady's number. I left a message with her but she never bothered to call back and a couple weeks later sent me this generic letter. Don't go here they don't practice medicine, they're just in it for the money. read more

For regular care, the Salem Clinic is ok. For Maternity care - DO NOT GO TO THE SALEM CLINIC. If I ever have another child it will not be with the Salem Clinic. I've been insulted multiple times by the medical professionals, their bedside manner leaves much to be desired, Ive gotten multiple mixed messages about my health while pregnant and in some instances even been given complete opposite information (I will reschedule or refuse an appointment before I ever see Mori J. Montagne, NP again). One of the medical professionals taking my blood made comment after comment about how big I was and asked multiple ways if I was "giving up," being induced or asking for a c section because I was so huge. Ive needed to send paperwork to the clinic and they refused to give me alternate ways to get them paperwork. I asked for a fax number and I had to ask multiple times before they reluctantly gave it up. I also asked for an email and they told me to send screenshot via MyChart. However, if you have an emergency, being seen by a doctor or PA , Salem Clinic deserves 1 star or less. In order to be seen in the Urgent Care clinic, you need an APPOINTMENT ! My wife and I spent 3 hours waiting in line, for Covid testing, to be greeted by the rudest person. We were asked if we'd been there, I was a couple years ago for a heart attack scare. But yet the "nurse" wanted to argue that I'd never been in, even to the point of talking over me to inform me I had NEVER BEEN IN THE BUILDING. I ignored it and then she asked about insurance. I don't have it, but if you search the internet it states testing is mostly free. So asking me for a hundred plus, I left. I called and spoke to Sophia and told her that everyone will know that their staff is rude and does not have anyone's interest, but their own, in mind. I would give zero stars if it were an option. Let me preface this review by stating that I am not a patient here (for which I am incredibly grateful). I attempted to fax some paperwork over to this office on 10/29/2020. I got an error message twice and decided to call to find out what was going on. Office staff gave me an alternate fax number which I used and finally, my fax did go through. I faxed over additional paperwork on 11/3/2020, which took multiple times to go through also. I want to make it clear that I've never had more trouble faxing paperwork to anywhere else, ever, than I did to Salem Clinic. One time when I called, I did ask if there is an e-mail option rather than fax - there is not, which is pretty crazy in 2020. Not a whole lot of people have fax machines anymore. I called three times between 10/29/2020 and 11/6/2020 to attempt to confirm receipt of the documents I sent on 10/29/2020 and 11/3/2020. On 11/6/2020, when no one could even confirm receipt of what I'd sent, I told them I was going to come down there and give them the paperwork - they did not seem to care one way or the other at this. I went to the clinic and dropped my paperwork off in person. As with my previous interactions with them, there was no sense of urgency or care at all. It made me glad to not be a patient, and that's pretty sad. Salem Clinic - you really need to step it up. Your customer service is terrible, and in the business of health "care", that's unacceptable. read more

I've been diagnosed w/8 new symptoms during this time and Dr. Huun, other doctors, PA's, and others do a fantastic job of taking care of me and other patients. I usually go to Inland Shores and the main Clinic on Capital Street, 3x this past week and they all do a magnificent job....its a smooth operation....I always take a puzzle to do(I'm 68)just in case I have to wait and that is so rare even as busy as they are that I never get my puzzles finished. My friend of 52 years was seeing Dr. Halder for the last few months. I called her the end of February just to check in. She was despondent, almost incoherent. I live in Nevada, so I had another friend go check on her. She was a mess. Dr. Halder diagnosed her with uncontrolled anxiety. She was out of breath, labored breathing, pale, could not walk 5 ft. So my friend brought her to Nevada to stay with me. I am a RN, and when I saw her I was shocked. We were operating under the "uncontrolled" anxiety dx of Dr. Halder. Once my nurse brain kicked in, I knew this was more than uncontrolled anxiety. I took her to the ER...bottom line her HGB....the blood test that shows how much oxygen your red blood cells are carrying, was 5....low normal is 12. She was admitted, as of yesterday has had 3 units of blood, and she is doing better. But I am appalled...and incredulous that Dr. Halder did not order a complete blood panel, especially given her symptoms. Plus she was a fairly new patient to Dr. Halder. I don't know who this woman is, but I do know my friend could have died. This is unforgivable. Her inability to respond to messages pales in comparison to this life threatening oversight. read more

Headed out immediately and when I arrived at 3:22pm we were told they had closed early with no notice whatsoever. Now we have to take time off work tomorrow to come back. We were offered no explanation as to why they were closing ahead of schedule. They are scammers. My wife and I scheduled a free annual physical required by my insurance. The took our bloodwork and ran a bunch of unauthorized extra tests. Instead of the basic free exam we scheduled, we got a comprehensive one. Insurance didn't cover half those tests, and they sent us a bill. Then we got another bill from an external lab they sent the samples to. After many calls and messages, and them completely stonewalling us and telling us it's not their problem, and to deal with our insurance, we had to report them to the Oregon Health Authority for doing medical procedures w/o patient consent. Stay away from this place if you don't want to get hit with unexpected bills for things you never ordered. read more

I am really shocked to read these other yelp reviews... I have lived in the area now for almost a year. I am a transplant from the Midwest. So you can imagine the culture shock of setting into a new town. I have never been a "west coast"er, nor was I really aware of how life here would be. Coming from the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest cities in the US, it's a really nice change of pace. One of the physicians at Salem clinic was recommended to me, and I've been seeing her for a few months now. She was a great fit for me, I got lucky [but honestly, they have a lot of docs, if I didn't like her I could have easily chosen another]. I have been to the South clinic, and I have been to the Main clinic. I have been the recipient of many different services at both, including testing, blood work, and standard care. From the confirmation of your appointment process, to the check in process, to the processing of patients as they pile in [and they do pile in-have you seen those lines? Wow...], I have witnessed nothing but kindness and professionalism. In fact, I was shocked at the manner in which their staffs in both locations were consistent. In my opinion there should be a BASIC level of service supplied by all administrative support staff in every industry [ESPECIALLY healthcare] and yet-taking care of people [something that should be held in the highest regard] is so flippantly overlooked. I challenge you to walk into any clinic in the Midwest and see if you are treated the same way, other than being herded like cattle and left to sit for some indefinite amount of time at the mercy of their schedules. Whether it is a Walgreens clinic, or a private practice. You are on their time, not the other way around and you will wait. There was not one patient that walked through those doors that was not greeted with a good morning, or a hello may I help you. I'm done with western medicine, and now have a functional medicine doctor covered by almost any insurance who can prescribe both the meds that you would get at a place like Salem Clinic and also knows about looking at illness in the body as a whole system problem. These doctors are in the process with you. The philosophy is different. The interactions are humanizing. You can find one of these doctors (an MD, PA, NP, or ND) here: www.ifm.org. I WILL PAY not to go to Salem Clinic. I went to Costco for a tetnus vaccination, willing to pay out of pocket. Fortunately, insurance covered Costco. I have left appointments having been talked down to (most patients would not label the interation this way: they assume doctors have this right) and run over by a doctor whose treatment option was forced on me. My mistake was trying his option. It didn't sound right and after I tried it (spending money on equipment) it did not work. I donated the equipment to the Mission. If I had not been so shut down, I would have been in tears after that depersonalizing, dismissive interaction. I waited two hours for an order to be faxed to the lab (an hour from home) that my insurance covers.... Two hours. Supposedly it had been faxed days earlier. Salem Clinic staff blamed the lab for not receiving the order. They did not pick up the phone to figure out why this order was not received. I've talked to a customer relations person about this. The problems is not one provider or medical aid. It's systemic. The old school authoritarian, misuse of power and not listening to the patient (or listening in appearance but realizing I was not taken seriously when I see the plan to address my problem. read more

I was given a cup to take home for a urine sample. I took it to the lab on a Wednesday. There was a short line of people outside the door being screened for covid so I got in line. The woman doing the screening asked if I had an appointment, and I told her I just had to deliver a specimen to the lab. She said she could do that for me, so I handed her my precious cup of pee. That's the last time anyone saw my precious little cup of pee. I called the following monday as I was curious about my test results. Brittany vanphorst and she initially told me she would fill out any documents I had for my employer bc I missed work I submitted the documents to her and instead of filling them out how we discussed she basically said That I need an appointment again to for her to fill them out. The fact that she is insisting on another appointment that cost me a lot of money during a pandemic to fill out forms she already agreed to is just unethical okay. And she's not the only doctor with Salem clinic that had done this. I have friends that go here and there doctors do the same thing. This clinic is very money hungry.
