A friend recommended them a couple years ago and we have used them several times since then for residential things. They are very responsive and really try to work to fit into your schedule. Today they were here for about 30 minutes. They fixed an outlet on my back deck & installed an updated light on my front porch. The last time they were here they spent time and really listened to me about noise I was hearing in the lights in my living room. Poor customer service, poor communication, messy and incomplete work. I scheduled an appointment over 2 weeks in advance. The technicians did not finish the work and told me they would be back but never bothered to return. When I called the service manager I was told I would have to wait because I was a "work in" even though I booked in advance for work that was never finished. The service manager is slow to return phone calls, if you are lucky enough to get a return call at all. The technicians that did the work left an electrical wire hanging from my ceiling and broke a light fixture but never bothered to follow up about cleaning up the mess. read more

I called in the morning after a power surge took out power to half of my house. The guys from Salem Electric were able to come in and fix the problem. They were were nice enough to show me what went wrong and were not know it alls that you might typically get. My only complaint is that it took a while to find the problem, but then again I live in an Ardmore home and electrical work is always tricky. I have been using Salem Electric for at least 10 years now, maybe longer. Each time, they have been completely professional, kept the work area clean, and mindful of my time (working/not gabbing). I have had flood lights installed outside, a large heavy chandelier installed in the foyer, lighting in the bathroom moved to another wall, can lights installed in my bedroom and office, heater and exhaust installed in a bathroom ceiling, surge protector placed on the house electrical system, and a new electrical box added for a new heat pump and porch renovation. I have never had a problem and consider them very experienced and professional. They are very helpful and courteous on the phone, able to make appointments when you call. Some places may be cheaper, but they may not be licensed/bonded/insured, or as professional. read more

Salem Electric performed some work on a home we're renting. They were prompt, polite, and professional. The problem ended up being on the Duke Energy side, but Salem Electric did a great job for us. There was a slight billing issue, but I emailed service manager Brian Reich and he fairly and quickly resolved the issue to my complete satisfaction. We were 100% happy with Salem Electric and would gladly use them again. It's hard to find a company who will do the right thing, and we're completely confident that Salem Electric will do right by their clients. That's priceless. I find it hard to believe that this company has this few reviews as long as it has been in business. I had an interview and with Terry and all looked promising. He sent me on my drug test and than went on vacation for 2 weeks. I followed back three times and the front desk just put me into his voicemail. He never told me he was going to be out that long and it left me with that wondering feeling. Than we he came back two weeks later, he said I didn't put down all of my bads on my background check. I had a B&E 26 years ago that I did not mention mainly because it had been so long ago. He said to me we hold everything against you from the age of 16, really! I asked politely, that if this was a problem to give me a call the following week and let me know yes or no and that I would understand so I could pursue other possibilities, he said he would. Well, never did, coward and really with going back that far on somebody! I was 19 years old and I'm 47 now. I was applying for a electrician helper, why the rigid background? I could understand if it was for the CIA or FBI or something but 14/hr. electrician helper? I think this company is a bit harsh. Haven't most of us done stupid stuff in the past, just some have been caught. Be mindful of this and dont' waist your time, they are looking for perfect people, good luck with that! read more
