Had a wonderful time here playing 18 holes of golf. I booked a few days ahead, my brother and Dad use the OGA Passport book and this was on the list. I like the idea of a little road trip to play somewhere new. The course is tucked into an older neighborhood. The reception at check in was okay, a little stuffy. I had inquired on each of my partners getting an individual cart (with their offer) and the main clerk said the price buys a seat on a cart, not necessarily their own. That is fine, all the other courses I've joined my family on, I have been able to ride along with them-because their passport book entitles them to a cart each. They were a little more strict here and that is fair. Was able to get 1/2 a cart price and ride with my dad. Course is Old School-not sure if I know how to articulate that, but Tall, tall, trees, surrounded by deep, dark forest, course is mostly flat. Appears to be a lot of history here and I think it used to be a Private Club. It wasn't too difficult - which is nice, since, I've never played here before. Pleasant day, course was busy with people. We waited some on a few holes but it wasn't dreadful. I would definitely return. On the second nine we encountered -twice- two folks playing music loud in their carts. This is totally obnoxious and shouldn't be tolerated. I was especially surprised because this course seems a wee bit formal, buttoned up. Well, we just had to two times hearing it, so didn't recur. We didn't see a marshal out on the course. We saw a deer bounding around on the course, he/she looked so happy and bouncy. This is definitely a course to see Bambi. We didn't have any kind of libations or food afterwards but those facilities were open. Nice clubhouse lobby with a lot of old photos. The clerk in the Pro Shop at the conclusion of our round was nice and friendly. Course was in good shape. Some of the tee boxes were a little raggedy, though, a little disappointing. Lots of friendly players, too.

Covered driving range with beautiful scenery and reasonable prices.

This is a fun course and fine for beginners (like myself); it was a bit more crowded on a weekday morning than I'd expected, but with friendly players who allowed my husband and I to play through, or were happy to go ahead of us when I needed a break. I've played a couple of other courses and I definitely think this is my favorite. It's been well maintained every time I've come here, and although we did not have the best experience with scheduling last time I was here in the Spring, we'll definitely be back.

Worker named Denise is terrible. extremely rude. Apart from her, most other employees are nice. Cool course for golf, pretty well up-kept.

Loved the peace and beauty of this place. Close to town but like a park. Holes well defined and conditions good for a public facility.

The clubhouse is beautiful, and old school (think Bushwood).

What you will find is a very well-maintained public track that offers good golf for a low price. - Layout is a lot of back and forth. Many holes seem to resemble one another. Still, the holes are very playable and will test your skills. - Fairways. It was wet when I played and it had been raining but the fairways maintained their condition with good course drainage. Still a lot of mud on the ball so we played lift, clean and replace. - Greens are in great shape. There aren't a lot of ridiculous contours, just reasonable slopes that require a fair amount of green reading skills. The fringes are in good shape, too. - Bunkers. I only visited one but it played well even with the moisture. The course does not have an excessive number of traps. - Hazards. Trees are you main concern (and there are some magnificent specimens on the course) but watch out for hidden water. It's not on many holes but what is there is a bit sneaky. Rough is not very rough. - Carts are no frills electric. Mine worked fine. - Practice facilities are limited. Santiam has a decent practice green but a very small driving range. No short game area. Santiam's prices are very reasonable. Low even. The pro shop is small but if you need something, they might have it. There's a nice cafe/grill in the building as well.

My visits here became more and more frequent as tennis became a serious part of my life during my younger years and more so when my frustrations on the court were taken out on my poor racket. Some years ago I purchased a beautiful Prince racket, with a large face and a carbon-titanium build. It was sold out in most places but this place happened to sell me a demo for a little less than $300 (negotiated down even). Over the years they were able to restore the messy scraped up frame of the racket and have done countless stringings to keep my racket in tip top shape. I have since purchased several more Head / Prince rackets here and on occasion they will do a season special on balls and other equipment which I have been known to purchase. Either way, they are a great, handy sporting goods place that offers some of the best quality tennis gear. Some people may freak at the prices, but like golf, tennis is by no means a cheap sport to play. If I didn't know any better I probably would have had to take out a loan or two to get some of their better gear. Save the money and take advantage of a good deal if one is present here. The staff is usually savvy enough to help even the most novice of customers and can make a good recommendation seeing as most folks will lean toward certain brands. If there is any knock, I just wish they had more locations in the city. This particular location was in one of the more shady areas in town.
