My family and I came here last night, and they were able to accommodate my grandfather, who's in a wheelchair, very easily, which I really appreciated. The rolls were very good. We didn't get appetizers, but everyone in my family (except me) ordered the prime rib and loved it. I went with the grilled chicken topped with a parmesan sauce and a loaded baked potato on the side. The seasoning and sauce were great, but the chicken itself was pretty dry. It reminded me of cutting into a well done steak where it takes way too long to get through. Me and my husband used to go there because he liked shrimp Alfredo. The last time we were in there, the waitresses skirt was so high that her apron didn't even cover her backside. It was kind of gross and we haven't been back. I went today and took my son and my grandchildren for lunch. Today there was two waitresses with their skirt so high when they bend over you can see their underwear. It's kind of gross. It makes me lose my appetite. I don't know if I can go back there again so inappropriate for my grandchildren. read more

I came in here with my husband and his parents on Saturday evening. The in-laws originally suggested Outback, which is gross, so this was next on the list. We walked in and there was quite the line, but we were able to be seated in the bar quickly. I didn't catch our waiter's name unfortunately, but he was amazing. He checked on us at all the right intervals, everything was correct. Everything being correct was a feat in itself for how loud it was in here too. I was impressed. Drinks and food were both amazing. I ordered a black raspberry margarita and the prime rib with a salad. I can't remember exactly what everyone else ordered, but there were no complaints. My father in-law's ribs were falling off the bone, and my husband's clam chowder had a distinct thyme flavor in it. Would I return? Yes! Definitely yes. My husband and I had a crazy horrible week, and his parents wanted to take us out for a nice relaxing dinner to treat us, and this place was absolutely perfect for that. This is probably my go to steakhouse in Salem. I've been coming for years, as it's nice place for birthdays or special occasions. The steak is great, although the standout item is the rolls with honey butter. I'm not sure I've ever had better rolls! No reservations, first come first serve. Thursday night, our group got in after a pleasant ten minute wait. Hostess was polite and welcoming. We sat in the outside covered area, very nice and agreeable for May. Parking lot, was full, we found on street parking. Waiter was super good, polite, attentive, professional and efficient. Meat cuts are a tad spendy, but expected. I had the huge turkey club with an overload of fries, delicious. Bread before dinner was warm and incredible. Sadly, my wife had the Masher Bites, good flavor, but super cold. She's not one to complain. I still recommend and would visit again. Started with beer and a key lime martini. Highly recommend the martini. Yum. The harvest salad was so crispy and fresh if it came from a bag we couldn't tell. The raspberry vinaigrette was also a success. The other options were the prime rib chili. Great flavor, more of a sauce than broth consistency and hefty chunks of prime rib. Smoked Tri-tip with a generous side of mushrooms. (Not pictured). Meat was tasty about medium to medium rare. Watermelon barbecue sauce was a star. All the other meals (pictured) were correctly cooked and very tasty. All portions were generous and leftovers came home. I refer to the bread as pillows of goodness. My parents have been loyal patrons for many many years and when I visit from Los Angeles we always have at least one meal there. Jenny has been their server for most all of those years and she is amazing ! Upbeat, personable, and the most astute, appropriate, and accurate server. She is a rarity in the world today where most servers are of the "no problem" mentality. Her job is her career, it suits her and the patrons. My parents are true fans of Jenny. The Roadhouse menu is diverse, delicious, and served in easily manageable proportions. Salmon is amazing, the coconut shrimp out of this world, and we have never had less than stellar steaks and burgers. I've been here before with a friend and had a good experience, so I dropped by around 1115 am on a weekday for lunch between errands. This was a good time to go, just before the lunch rush really got going. I was seated right away in a booth in the bar area. Service was friendly and I was checked in on periodically but not intrusively. I was in the mood for a burger (when is that not the case with me?), and decided on the Circle M Bacon Burger, which comes with hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, and barbecue sauce. I picked fries as my side, and soon I received one of their yeast rolls with whipped honey butter. This was good, but I personally prefer plain butter but forgot to let them know. I enjoyed my roll, and shortly my burger arrived. It came with pickles, tomato slices, red onion and lettuce. I abstained from the pickles, tomatoes, and onions, as is my custom. The burger was large and delicious! The hickory bacon lent a wonderful smoky taste. The burger was well cooked with good grill flavor and the cheese went well with it. I also liked the BBQ sauce. The bun was soft but didn't fall apart. I added a few squirts of ketchup to the top bun, as it was a tiny bit dry since I removed most of the fixings. The fries were tasty as well and good accompaniments. All in all, a great lunch. I was in and out within an hour, and was full well into the evening. Wow! Has this place gone down hill since COVID. Went there for my wife's birthday with some friends and had a terrible meal. I had the pork chops. They were so dry when I cut them I saw dust flying. The clam chowder had no clams it was just potato soup. My friend had the ribeye that he ordered medium rare and when it came it was way over cooked to the point where when he added A1 it sucked it up like a sponge. 3 of us had baked potatoes the were partially raw. The staff was OK but when I mentioned it to the waiter. There was silence and he just walked away. The restaurant is very noisy. I was really craving a good Caesar salad and the waitress assured me it was a really good one and the dressing was made in house. It was not a good salad at all. Very disappointing and dry. So we came here because a couple of my kids ranted and raved over it. I'm only giving 4 stars based on the fact it's a casual roadhouse and bar- not a nice dress up for dinner restaurant. That is not a criticism at all- just an explanation. We came in- very busy so they seated us at a small table in the bar. Our server Daniel was very nice and hard working. They brought out their house made rolls which are amazing. I usually don't like honey butter- but theirs is really good. We also ordered the Tennessee Wraps- which are cream cheese and jalapeño egg rolls with a sweet chili sauce. Omg- amazing. At this point we regretted ordering anything else as we were full. My wife ordered the petite filet, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. She said the filet was a perfect medium rare with a great sear on it. The garlic mashed potatoes were addicting. I had not been to Best Little Roadhouse in a few years - I don't eat much beef, and not a major fan of barbecue, and tend toward other cuisines. My wife and I were invited to join another couple for dinner, and BLR is where we went. I was tremendously impressed. First, a few notes about the service: I was able to secure a table for four without issue. I was greeted promptly and shown a table. We were greeted at the table after all sitting down in a reasonable period of time. We were served by two members of the staff, one who was clearly very new and shadowing a more seasoned employee. They were warm and gracious. About 15 minutes after ordering, the more senior server comes to us with a plate of wings, and explained that they had made a mistake and had not gotten our order in promptly, apologized deeply, and offered a complimentary plate of wings, veggies and corn chips. No excuses, no blame, just "we messed up and we're really sorry and want to make it right." That is TREMENDOUS in a world where customer service is at best inconsistent if existent at all. We were having a great time and it did not detract from our evening that we hadn't received food yet. Then the food: My wife ordered a tri-tip steak salad; what she got was a VERY generous portion of beef on a nice salad. I ordered a salad with roasted chicken and the quality and taste was great, and the portion size was certainly reasonable. Our friends enjoyed their salmon and shrimp dinners. Finally, the value: I would rate the value very high for what I paid for our two dinners--both portion sizes and food quality. We had a great meal, a great time, and at a very reasonable price. I would absolutely consider BLR the next time we are in the mood to go out and would recommend to others, especially meat lovers. In particular, I'd like to commend Best Little Roadhouse for providing great service. That means a lot these days. read more

We came her to celebrate my birthday tonight. We arrived around 5pm. We were seated immediately on the patio. Although it was a warm day, the patio was shaded and had fans on. Along with the waterfall view, the atmosphere was quite pleasant. They had a Tennessee tea on special so that is what we ordered, it was delicious, went down quite easily especially on a hot day. We ordered the potato skins and Tennessee wraps, both were delicious. The Tennessee wraps were amazing! My daughter had the BLT, she was happy with it. My son and I got the chicken sandwich, chucked was grilled wonderfully and the flavors were great. My husband got the tri tip with coconut shrimp. It came with a salad and it was really good paired with a house made honey mustard that was outstanding. The tri tip was cooked perfectly, good portions, good bbq sauce on the side. The coconut shrimp was really good paired with a sauce everything we ate was delicious, and brought exactly as we ordered. Our waitress was phenomenal. And then we golfed with our full bellies we added lots of laughs to our night. I'm so glad we tried somewhere new for my birthday. read more

This was our first visit the B.L. Roadhouse in about 12 years, and it was a little disappointing compared to the last visit. I got smoked tri-tip, seasoned veggies, tortilla soup. The soup was okay, nothing special, and the same could be said for the veggies. The tri-tip came out luke-warm, and it was cooked more done than the advertised medium rare, which made it a little tough. The watermelon BBQ sauce was tasty, but couldn't save the entree. The dinner rolls were very tasty, like I remembered -- nice and sweet. Dessert was also quite good -- which was as a nice surprise. My chocolate cake was moist and delicious. This was definitely a case of a dining establishment going downhill, and I'm not sure it's the best roadhouse in Salem anymore. read more

A great place for a meal with friends. Our server was attentive and friendly. We were seated in the well heated enclosed covered patio on a cold winter evening. It was a very comfortable space. Traffic noise is my only knock for the patio. The food was very good. Husband had the smoked tri-tip and raved about the spicy watermelon barbecue sauce. My petit filet mignon was so tender and I enjoyed the red wine demi-glace with it. I was served one of the freshest green salads I have had at a restaurant. My son took me to BLR on Saturday, 7/12. We had a great time, great food, and even with lunch portions we had plenty to take home for another meal! The only down side, *which was corrected*, was they first tried to seat us with a lovely view of the kitchen... never my first choice lol. We opted to sit in the bar to get a booth. Why did we get a small booth when we got there almost when they opened for lunch, plenty of full size booths available??, and they knew we were for a birthday celebration? Well, the slight missteps there were readily remedied by Rachel, the bar tender who gave us EXCELLENT service and attention. Yea Rachel!! lol. AKC Dock Diving was on and Rachel dialed it up on 2 tv's so we could both watch without breaking our necks (avid dog lovers and owners). I had the pork chop and mashers, mandarin orange sections, of course the rolls with honey butter. We both had the cheesecake for dessert, which we took home, because they brought us a multi-scoop of yummy vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel syrup with whipped cream as an add-on for the birthday. By the time we finished they were getting filled up so it worked out great for us, wanting a slightly quieter celebration :) read more
