It was put away as in rolled in and left to sit as is, no draining of gas, no wipe down, nothing. It had been replaced by a riding lawnmower. Today I have a son that just purchased his second home and needed a lawn mower for the new lawn. I thought of the Husky, but it was a poor sight at this moment. Dust, dirt, little oil, and plugged up fuel system. Started looking for a good repair shop, found reviews for Darling. It was located almost an hour & 1/2 from me. Decided to go anyway. Glad I did. Mike was on a service call at a customers home, so called him. He answered, we talked, I left my mower at his shop. I gathered that I should have called beforehand and also missed an online msg that he was semi-closed for a week or so. Despite all of this, he worked with me as if none of this happened or was important. Said no problem fixing the mower and gave me a very fast turnaround time, but I received an incredible turn around time with everything needing repair or replacement being done including a thorough cleaning on the outside. He is as all others have described. He helped me as if I had called first to make an appointment, and had waited until he was officially back to work, and was first in line. I wasn't any of these. Mike came across as an expert mechanic, friendly, concerned, and as what just about every reviewer describes him. Honest, reasonable, helpful, friendly etc.. I read the glowing reviews for Darling, including one about a Toro just like ours that had been brought back from the dead. We called, dropped it off, got it back, and OMG, it looks and runs like a brand-new machine! (I wish I had a "before" photo, honestly, we had neglected it so badly it was ready for the scrap heap.) On top of that, Darling didn't charge an arm and a leg like most places do these days. This experience felt like stepping back into the 1950s, when people had what they called a work ethic. He's fair, honest, highly skilled, and personable. (and usually, only a 5-7 day turnaround). How does he do it?

Dropped off a pole saw to have repaired last August. Never got a call for over six months. Business phone number 503-287-6610 is disconnected. Finally, I went there to inquire. Found out Eric was on the verge of forclosure. Orders stacked up; my pole saw was "lost and in storage". Eric promised to call soon, but he never does. Not the first time. The place is a mess: completely disorganized and in despair. Seems sketchy and junky now. I hate to see a good shop and business decay, but feel it is my duty to warn others: DON'T COME HERE EXPECTING YOUR REPAIR TO BE SERVICED RIGHT. You've been warned.

You know when your friends insist on helping you when you are ailing and can't get it done? I was…read morethere and so glad for the help with my yard when I could not work on it myself. My friends showed up, broke my chainsaws after a few minutes and left...sigh... Fast forward to when I am doing far better. It took a while longer but I was able to get my saws here. Turns out they also added a clog to my oil hold. They got the saws cleared, the chains reattached and even tested them out so fast. It was amazing and I am so grateful. Now I have to wait for the weather to get a touch warmer so I can trim the trees. The new location is even better too - so much more space. These folks really sell some of the hardcore saws and such but knowing that they are also there to help out those of us with much smaller needs. To them it is no big deal but to me it is everything having a pro service these and I am so glad to have a great local spot so close to home I can rely on.

First time ever; that could be used on Tuesday, April 15. I asked the manager Jeremiah if he could honor the price since I was unavailable to come in on Tuesday, he said no. I asked for a refund and told him I would take my business elsewhere for all lawn and garden purchases in the future. I recommend everyone do the same. There's a reason why they have such terrible reviews. I would rather drive an hour out of my way and punched in the face than to patronize Stark St.,lawn and Garden.
