I was a patient of Dr. Johnson for several years. I knew he was an extraordinary Pulmonologist from the start. He listens, gives thorough answers to my questions, and is exceptionally patient. He has moved out of the clinic and my experience is so different now. Not awful, just not what I was accustomed to with Dr. Johnson. Terrible response on telephone calls, reception area doesn't seem to careif you are there or not. Repeatedly rescheduled my appointments. My first visit was with Dr. Kovid Trivedi was in Sept 2023 said that he had done many Endobronchial Lung valves when I asked about them. He was pompous and bragging he had done many. But then his demeanor and body language changed when till I told him I knew all about what and how the valves are done. He shut down and then told me he would not help me at all. I was flabbergasted. I asked for another doctor there. They don't even tell people there is more that can be done when you have COPD Emphysema. I then got Doc. Fayez Bader in the same office because Trivedi denied me services? Doc. Bader tells me he has to ask "the committee" about breathing valves. After consonantly asking in messages I find out, there is no committee. Bader went by Trivedi notes that I had occasional exposure to second hand smoke and why denied services. Why tell me there is a committee when they don't even do valves there? I find out 4 months later Dr. Kovid Trivedi has never done them before at all. None of the 8 doctors there have done them. Trivedi could have given a reference to a doctor that could then but didn't. Neither doc told me no-one there does the valves just to string me along for office visit fee's. Dr. Fein in Portland does the Zephyr Valves. That can give better quality of life till my end since there is no cure for it. read more

I went in for a hernia complaint and told them i was having stomach issues also. I told them that I was unable to eat more than 1/2 cup of food at a time and had already lost weight. (They weigh you fully clothed with my purse, so their records do not show weight loss). I had to call multiple times to get another appointment. When I finally did, they thought I just wanted more time off of work. I had to be very pushy to get an MRI with contrast. It took two weeks to get that. Still feeling sick I called multiple times to the doctor because time was running out for my profile. Time did run out and I went back to work to end up in the emergency room getting emergency surgery. They actually called 5 days after My MRI (Results were ready in 2 days) While I was in the hospital waiting for my emergency surgery. These people do not care about you!!!!!! You have to PUSH them to get anything done. Be careful they will also send you to a Hospital for an MRI that does not take your insurance!!!! read more

I don't really have a complaint with this doctor but the staff or his medical assistant is so unprofessional. I had aspiration pneumonia 7/29 admitted to Salem Hospital. Follow up with this doctor on 8/13. Dr Trivetti said my lungs sounded clear. Ordered sodium chloride 7% solution for a nebulizer which i do not have. The medical assistant did not follow through faxing the orders to the DME whom I spoke to several times. After calling every day for three weeks, leaving messages with the office, answering service AND the on call doctor, my call has still not been returned. My pcp had me do a CXR, was seen at ER on 10/2 with pneumonia once again. Was given a breathing treatment with the nebulizzerà and given an inhaler. All due to the negligence of that office. read more

I love my doctor (Dr. Johnson), but the staff is horrible, especially the medical assistants. They never answer the phone. You have to leave multiple messages. Only if you advocate hard for yourself and leave multiple messages stating assertively what you need, they might call you back. And when they do all they want to do is argue and talk over you. The medical assistants and the staff are completely and utterly unprofessional, and not willing to help patients, being so hard to work with. It's exasperating They will not send pre-authorizations in for prescriptions desperately needed. They tell the patient to call the insurance company to see what is covered but you are not told by the clinic what meds you should be asking for. It's an asinine way to "provide" medical care. My previous doctors have been able to access insurance formularies and tell me what's covered and not covered. The fact that they won't send in pre-authorizations for prescriptions is ridiculous. I cannot recommend this office because, based on my experience, they don't care for their patients overall. Their staff is rude, entitled and lazy. I'm currently looking for another doctor because while I love my doctor here I can't stand their staff. read more

My experiences with the doctor and having a sleep study done were just fine; my experience with the admin/billing side of things was a different story. Before I had my post sleep study follow-up appointment, the office staff assured me that they would contact my PCP for a referral so that it would be covered. (The initial referral was only for the sleep study.) After my appointment, I received a bill for almost $300. I called my insurer and they said they never received a referral. I called Salem Pulmonary Associates and they said they would get a backdated referral and would resubmit the claim. (They had no answer when I asked why they didn't get the referral before my appointment as they had originally stated they would.) A few days later I get a note that the referral went through. A few months later, I don't see any change in my insurance account info (and I don't like having this lingering $300 due bill), so I call the insurer. They said they were never contacted by the billing department to re-process the claim. I don't get it. They have an entire billing department and this wasn't a very complicated situation. At least they didn't send it to collections. read more

After a diagnosis of Afib (atrial fibrillation), and years of waking up every hour, night sweats, and my wife telling me I would stop breathing while I slept, I was finally driven, kicking and screaming, to an appointment with Dr. Martin Johnson II at Salem Pulmonary Associates PC and Sleep Center. Now I wish I had gone years ago. Dr. Johnson was kind and understanding, he listened well, and suggested a much dreaded sleep study to confirm. There are two types of study, a home recorder, which I would have greatly preferred, or the clinic sleep study, where you go in, get wired up, and the somnologist watches you while you try to sleep. After meeting Dr. Johnson, I had the confidence to chose the clinic sleep study. The study is performed at the Salem Pulmonary Associates' Office. The somnologist was very professional, and went out of her way to make me comfortable (Thank You, Margaret!). The room and bed were clean and comfortable, the rest room close at hand, and the camera and electronic equipment unobtrusive. I didn't think I would sleep at all, but I did, allowing the somnologist to determine that I did have a sleep disorder, and somewhere around midnight, she fitted me with a BiPAP device, which allowed me about four hours of uninterrupted sleep, probably the most I have had in ten years. Dr. Johnson reviewed the sleep study results, and prescribed a BiPAP machine and comfortable nasal pillow "mask." (I am most happy with the mask because it doesn't leave dents in your face. Half my coworkers have CPAP machines and great big honking full face masks that leave tire tracks across their faces for hours after they get to work. Sorry guys, but it does make you look like you slept face down on a man hole cover). I picked up my prescribed breathing machine from Providence Home Services (who also deserve Five Stars), and use it religiously every night. After I had used the BiPAP for a month, I had a follow up with Dr. Johnson. He reviewed the sleep study results, and the logs created by the machine itself. This machine reports the hours it was used, and the details of its' use back to the Doctor and Providence daily via a built-in cell phone. He agreed with me that I am doing great, and I will see him again in a year. I am impressed with the care and attention I received from Dr. Martin Johnson II, and Salem Pulmonary Associates. I especially appreciate that Dr. Johnson listened to my concerns, and what I wanted. I highly recommend both without reservation. Five Stars. read more

After a sleep study was told I had an AHI of 3.2. KNEW something was wrong when base lines were being ran on other patients and not on me. NOT TO MENTION, when I awoke at 1 am to go to the bathroom (community) I was taken off of the PSG equipment, and my sleep report does not state this. Had a second opinion done by a COMPETENT doctor, and was found to have an AHI over 20!!! Would suggest seeing another doctor before your sleep apnea gets out of control. I have hard copies of both reports, and the difference is staggering! read more

This was the worst experience of customer service I have ever experienced. They gave me the complete run around. I had an in lab study that they canceled while they were technically closed and because of their answering service I couldn't speak to anyone to figure out what happened. I then spent the next month calling repeatedly, leaving at least ten message and no one calling me back. When I was finally able to talk to someone she claimed that she didn't want to call me with no news. Difficult to actually talk to someone to make an appointment for a televisit. Provider did not follow up on emails I sent regarding a specific condition. Still waiting (8 days later) for someone to call me to schedule an appointment. Audio quality during televisit was poor and broke up several times. Both my husband and are clients. of Salem Pulmonary. They have done my sleep studies & CPAP monitoring for over 9 years. CPAP can be hard to get used to but they stuck with me till I am now using it and having no problems. Dr Faroozi was instrumental in diagnosing and intervening in my husband diagnosis of a large and thankfully benign tumor. My husband experienced some fluid build up after surgery and Dr Faroozi got the care he needed immediately with great and lasting relief. They worked with him for CPAP use which just didn't work for him, and found a solution for his nighttime problems. They have always returned calls promptly and are obliging in working out best times for office visits . read more

In 2005 Dr. Johnson also saved my husband's life and gave us a few more days together before complications created by a different doctor took his life. It would be difficult for me to find a more devoted and compassionate specialist. The office staff are always a pleasure to see and work with on my care. The only other doctor I'm familiar with is Dr. Steven Marvel who is also dedicated and compassionate.
