I also saw a lot of Baggu items, which is a brand that I really like. Lots of stuff I hadn't seen in person before, like the teeny tiny backpacks. They also had a lot of local art, jewelry, cards, candles, and more. It's a great spot for finding a gift for yourself or your favorite gal pals! Unfortunately I was not greeted when I came in nor when I was browsing, which I feel is such a small thing that can really make a difference when shopping. The person at the counter was with another customer, but even just a quick, "hi, welcome in!" can be so nice. That said, I would come back in the future just to check out what they have in stock.

Located in Kerrytown across the street from Detroit Street Filling Station, this woman-owned business is stocked full of so many unique and thoughtfully curated and sourced items. You want to come here for all the most unique and gorgeous looking goodies to gift to yourself and your loved ones and make sure to stop by often as they have a rotating selection of goodies throughout the seasons and months as well! They always have gorgeous window displays, the employees are always so happy to see you and the service is wonderful, and this shop is just so dreamy! Things are definitely on the pricey side here, but everything is really high quality and they feature a ton of local artisans in the area as well. There's nothing I love more than an intentional shop and you can truly feel how intentional Thistle & Bess is in every detail their store contains. Absolutely lovely and always worth a peruse whenever you find yourself in the Ann Arbor area!

Not only were we delighted with the service and just the caliber of humanity we encountered in the store, but Rhonda herself hand delivered our re-sized rings to us in NYC when they were ready a couple months later. She surprised us with champagne and appetizers, took pictures of us as we opened them, and even gave us cupcakces for dessert AND bought us a bouquet of flowers. After that, she took pictures of us by Rockefeller Center. This woman just goes above and beyond and may be the first person we've encountered to truly have a heart of gold. The quality of the rings is exquisite, the re-sizing perfect, the attention to detail, the personal attention....we will remember this for the rest of our lives. It's rare to encounter not only incredible service, wonderful products in terms of both selection and value, but also each and every person we interacted with in the store to be so genuinely kind and curious about our love story, and eager to support us and help us find something that expresses our individual personailities. We were just gobsmacked and deeply moved by the entire experience. We'll be back soon for our custom made wedding bands! Cannot recommend enough 10/10, 150%. Eternsally grateful.

Stopped in while walking off a heavy lunch nearby, and had fun browsing the nooks and crannies. It looks very small when you first walk in, but they make good use of every bit of space and fit a lot of items in. I mostly liked looking at the clothing and jewelry. While I didn't end up buying anything, I was glad I stopped in. Personally, given the small size, I probably wouldn't make a trip just for this store, but it's a nice option to pop into when already in the area.

Two things you should know about me: 15 years later I still look like a teen and wear cut-off gloves, and, I have the ballerina's grace of a bull in a china shop. This pretty much bars me from any antique store explorations. So when I hear "antique" in the name, I automatically think I'll be unwelcome. Apple Annie's turned all my expectations right on their noggin'. The two women working here are magnificent. They immediately welcomed us. I browsed without feeing judged or patrolled. The place itself is cozy without feeling cluttered - the walls are a warm yellow. Please forgive my photographs because they don't do any justice to the beauty of the merchandise or the layout of the store. They have everything from civil war era items to stuff from the 1980s - prices range from a couple bucks to $500+. There are books to dvds to clothing to shoes to jewelry to glasses to postcards to furniture. I find things to be VERY reasonably priced. Many times I've picked up items, flipped them around expecting a cost I can't afford, and then being very pleasantly surprised to see that I can! Although I had the genuine intent of buying a fur cape and thus tried many on, Linda and Lynn (they even introduced themselves later!) didn't seem at all concerned whether or not I was going to actually buy something. This I liked a lot. Unfortunately, the piece I fell in love with was way out my price range (justly so). I am, however, already musing on how I can save up money for the buy in the future. A truly superb collection of hand-selected objects with wonderful shopkeepers. I come here to see what's new (nice things get snagged mighty quick so don't sleep!) and pretty much anytime I need a gift for any friend who appreciates old beautiful things. What a treasure trove.
