This was our first time using this company and our experience was terrible…read more When we dropped off our garage window to have pane replaced, John told us they could replace one pane of glass in the double pane window for $26. A week later when we stopped to see if it was done they had broken the other pane of glass trying to get broken glass out. On this day the lady working who had a terrible attitude and ran down every other employee that worked there stated it would now be $68 to fix, even though they broke the 2nd pane. She stated it would be another 7-10 days. So we go back in another week and it still isn't done, so we wait while the guy finishes it up. While we are waiting, we ask for an invoice and was told by the guy in the office who stated he just does the computer work that they don't do invoices. So we ask if we can pay while we wait, he states using a card? we ask how much our bill is and he replies I don't know. How can we pay if nobody knows what the total bill amount is? Ridiculous! We get home and one of the latches to lock the window with is broken off. They were both on when we took the window in. This business is poorly ran and no customer service or professionalism. WE will find another glass to do business with in the future.

I put feelers out for repair referrals on Next Door, and Door Medic was referred. I texted the number and got an immediate response with relevant questions and, with the pictures sent, I was given a quote. Dan came out on Friday morning, keeping his quoted time, and sending me a text when enroute, as requested. He arrived, gave it an inspection, assured that the previously quoted rate was still a go, then, got to work. Down to letting us know that cash is best because it keeps him from having to charge a credit card fee...he is a class act. We even needed one wheel, as one had been lost under some stuff in the garage...yes, our garage is adulting appropriate. He had one with him and didn't charge us for this part. Not saying that would be applicable for all, after all he is in business, this is just what he did for us, and no, I never met him before this day. More than fair, professional, and knowledgeable! He even gave us heads up on a couple of things that would likely need repaired at some point, but, was honest about us not needing to spend that money right now. In this economy, honest business can be hard to come by, but, Dan is absolutely the MAN! Honest, fair, kind, all of the characteristics that you look for in doing business.

The second time he came I needed larger doors put into my mezzanine. He was able to accommodate me pretty quickly with an appointment. While I appreciated their history, classic look and the fact that they were still in good shape, it was clear they needed to be updated. I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. During installation I found that the screens had holes in two of them and there was a large deep scratch on one of the windows When I called they sent someone out immediately to correct the issue. I get a lifetime transferable warranty and now that it's winter, I can tell they are much less drafty. I'm very happy that I can open my windows now and windex both outside and inside.
