While I appreciated their history, classic look and the fact that they were still in good shape, it was clear they needed to be updated. I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. Brian and his team did an outstanding job, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their windows!

I had the windows installed yesterday and what a pleasure it was!…read more Firstly, the sales representative, Damien, was very helpful and patient with me and after his demonstration of how superior these windows are compared to all others including Pella, Andersen,Marvin etc I was as excited about them as he was. I was convinced after he nailed a 6 penny nail into a piece of wood, or at least tried to, that this product was nearly bulletproof. The glass appears to be just short of Armorlite. The windows were installed Friday 4/10 and it was a pleasant experience, if that's possible with contractors coming to the house. They were very fussy about their work and patient with my watching and questions etc. I've had many contractors come to the house from painting and landscape, carpenters etc. The window installers are now at the top of my list. I will live with these windows for awhile and post another review after the summer heat and evaluate their energy efficiency. By the way they are nearly soundproof as I live on a busy road and that was another issue that sold me as well.

The window depot has great Google reviews, as a Yelpie, I wanted to spread the word and be their first review on Yelp because I highly recommend them! They offered financing options which was a plus to proceed with the home improvement project. The cost was also reasonable. They replaced /installed my front windows and patio door. I was highly impressed with how efficient and phenomenally professional the installation was. Dave also came to do an inspection as the final step of the installation process. He brought me this thank you gift box with some goodies inside. Dave also assisted with registering my windows/ patio door for the warranty. The communication was excellent with Richard from day one, he was very responsive with phone calls /text messages/ emails. The pre-installation process was straightforward and very helpful, giving me a clear understanding of what to expect. Unfortunately, installation day brought several complications. A team of three began installing 16 windows, but just 15 minutes in, one technician badly twisted an ankle and had to leave. The remaining two proceeded to remove all windows on a scorching 90+ degree day before starting replacements, turning my home into an uncomfortably hot and humid environment. While they finished the installation that day, it was an incredibly long shift, from just before 10 AM until 9 PM, requiring my continuous supervision. I noted that a drop cloth was only used for the very first window, which helped with the mess initially but wasn't continued. Another issue was the window color. I had specified a tan/wicker exterior with a white interior, but received entirely white windows. To avoid a 6-8 week delay and a $350 rescheduling fee, I accepted them. They do look good, and the white exterior matches my previous windows, so I'm not overly concerned about this. My primary outstanding concern is a gutter downspout that was removed during installation and never reinstalled. Despite multiple calls (three to the install team, two to the service team), I haven't received any communication or action to rectify this. This lack of follow-up so soon after installation makes me question the reliability of their warranty service.
