Plus having sales girl following my every move. So very annoying. What really topped off my visit....was during checking out....I'm a SALLY'S BEAUTY MEMBER..... giving her a 10 a ten digit phone number, can not count how many times I needed to repeat it...yikes.. ...wow... I came in to buy some hair dye (Manic Panic has been my go-to) and found it right at the front as I came in. I had initially gone to the storefront in Vienna but found that it had closed its doors. 8/9/20... Wow not honoring the 3 day weekend of no taxes. I can see why this store is low on customers. Aside from that, the staff I met were friendly enough. I did have trouble locating the Skin Tight Rollers, but a young lady in pink gloves showed me where they were. There were only two rollers left and I aquired both of them. The stuff smells, but works wonders on annoying razor bumps and ingrown hairs. This store has no public bathroom since 3/19/20. If you gotta go, try Aldi's. read more

Decent service. Sort of rude over the phone when I called ahead to confirm whether they had what I needed. Why make the trip if otherwise, right? A great assortment of hair product lines for natural/kinky/curly textures. They have some sort of rewards program if you're a frequent shopper. However, it costs about $10 to enroll. I don't like the idea of spending money to save money, sounds like a rip-off. I will return. read more

I first off like to say that after today they have zero stars with me I realize that we're in a pandemic situation as far as covid-19 and businesses have modified hours and so forth however it is no excuse what so ever to deny a potential customer who gets there well before closing time just to be denied when I get to the front door I drove from Fairfax the Fair Lakes just to get a particular brush that they sell, when I arrive a female associate is already locking the door saying that the other employee in the back is in the bathroom and apparently she doesn't feel good and she can't do anything about it and she can't help me I then said I got here before closing and that the store closed at 6pm and she replied again other employee is in the bathroom there's nothing she can do, what do you want me to do. Okay if that was the case then why is this other employee not staying home if she's not feeling good to begin with number one, and number two I got there well before closing I just needed to get one thing and I get denied by a short fat ghetto African american lady who is another associate who locked the door well before closing time I got there around 5:50pm could have at least saw what I wanted and check me out if you say that you close at 6 p.m. then you close at 6 p.m. you're not closing at 5:50pm, do you really expect not to have Angry potential customers???? and I'm not the only one she did this to she did not another lady was looked elderly age who also was trying to go into the store but also was denied as well and she to got there before closing It was very obvious this associate didn't want to do her job, just because we're in the pandemic don't mean you get to use lame pathetic excuses to not help potential customers and again unacceptable and I will be calling corporate first thing in the morning and make a report!!!! I came in today looking to replace my Devacurl products and find the new curly hair product for me. While Sally's didn't have what I was originally coming in for I worked with one of the sales associates there named Evey she was FANTASTIC! She asked me about my curl type and what I was looking for and worked with me to find something that would be comparable to what I was looking for. While they didn't have exactly what she wanted to recommend in stock at that time, she let me know when to call and ask if it was in yet and even offered to help me personally again next time I come in. While I didn't get my new curly hair product I did get to pick up something to help with my buildup so I left very happy. Evey made it so much easier to go through all the different products Sally's offers. So Evey thank you for your help today I'll be back again soon! read more

I have been looking for options to color my hair. Multiple Facebook groups recommended getting advice from the employees at Sally's. That must be true for other locations - but not this one. The women working were screaming (playful, but super loud and unprofessional), calling each other lazy, and complaining about work the entire time I was there. They stepped right in front of me to put products away while I was looking at them without acknowledging me at all. When I asked questions they did not beak from what they were doing, zero eye contact and one word answers. Negative experience and waste of a trip. read more

Typical Sally's location. The reason it gets 2 stars is because of service. One of the workers was talking to her friend, quite loudly, in the middle of the aisle. If you've been in a Sally's, the aisles are not very wide. Had to yell excuse me (because apparently they didn't hear me the 1st time), and both woman had the nerve to look at me like I was inconveniencing them. Looked around, found what I needed, and came up to the register. The same woman was still running her mouth, so I waited a minute before I walked over and told her I was ready. Ms. Attitude said, just a minute in a rude way, turned her back, and continued to talk to her friend for another minute (about nothing, nonetheless). I left my things on the counter, and walked out. Typical Sally location: get your various skin, hair, etc. needs met here. The staff hasn't won me over though. When I walked in, I grabbed a basket and headed to the back of the store to find my creme developer, bleach, toner, etc. to go blond. As I was searching for the protein filler, the woman who was up front was being SUPER friendly to customers. She sounded so nice, so after not being able to find the protein filler, I looked for the rest of what I needed, confident that when I went to the counter, the nice worker would be able to help me. Well, by the time I found everything, the worker had gone down the opposite aisle and disappeared into the back. I met another worker at the register and asked her if they carried the protein filler. She told me she was new, but went to the back to ask her seemingly nice co-worker. Her co-worker yelled something about "by the toners" so we went to search for it. I looked, she looked, and we couldn't find it. When she went to tell the (supposedly nice) co-worker, she was met with stomping, an angry face, and a "RIGHT THERE". Girl shot me a look that made me want to apologize for existing. Guess that girl wasn't so nice afterall... Grabbed the filler, went back up to the front, and had a nice chat with the new worker. Went in looking for a specific nail polish for at home gel mani's. I was told to shop online or have it requested to the store. This review is about the online service for Sally's. I will not be doing this again. I ordered my polish set on the 12th, it's now the 21st and they still haven't finalized my payment! After worrying about this I called customer service twice to see if anything was wrong or if the payment could be processed any faster. The answer: I don't know anything about banking and I don't know why your order isn't processing. I asked if they could at least look up where my order was. I was just in to this location, in Fair Lakes mid January 2013. The service was great! The two female clerks worked well together as a team and were very attentive and engaging. I have read the other reviews. And I have had similar experiences in months and years past. But this visit was different. Maybe new staff. RUN AWAY FROM FAIRFAX. RUN TO STERLING! This has got to be the smallest Sally Beauty Supply I ever been to. Their supplies are thin. Yet there are always boxes in the aisles for restocking, kind of messy. Not even all the hair color brands online are carried in the store. I have a few experiences here so this is not an assessment based on a single visit. My 22 y.o. niece, much more experienced with hair colors of ALL shades--blue, fuchsia, orange, has had to help me with which product was needed and recognizing the couple of packets in stock. I had asked on a previous visit for help based on her directions and was met with a blank stare and no assistance. You can imagine what it is like if you don't know exactly what is needed. The customer service is infrequent at best. I won't say never. There have been a couple of friendly and sometimes helpful employees. It makes me wonder who is being hired, the employees' experience in beauty, how well they might be trained (big question), if they are being paid reasonably and how lousy the potential employee pool may be. I, unfortunately, had come to expect this kind of experience but, locally, it is the only game going. Online suppliers are mostly useless. But TODAY, yay! I went to the Sterling location in Potomac Run Plaza on Rt 7 East. What a DELIGHT! I was greeted beautifully by a couple employees as I opened the door. The store was sparkling clean, well organized, significantly larger, beautifully stocked and no open boxes in the aisle to stock the shelves, the employees (4 or 5 I think) were delightful, helpful and knowledgable! The stock had a nice breadth but not always very deep--seemed as if the stock is quickly turned and replaced. I found most everything I needed as recommended by my beautician/colorist. I like the location, but prefer the one in Manassas much better, the one in that location has way more to chose from for the things I need. Aside from this one being closer to my home, I go about once a week to get some basic items and to try new things. The first time I had come to this specific shop a few months ago, the workers were extremely rude in this location, and have little to zero knowledge about the products. The first time I asked for their opinion on a specific item, and asked what was more popular, the this or that, and the lady told me " If Im not a pro stylist, then i have no business to be in Sallys." I was dumb struck ! I only asked what her thoughts were on a specific item, not how to use it or what it was for! I felt very unwelcome. Seeing as this is still much closer to my home, I decided to give this another try, and completely avoided the associates. So, this afternoon, my friends and I went into Sally's together. My friend asked the cashier if she could use her card for half the transaction, then cash for the other half. The cashier said "yes of course". Instead, she charges the entire amount on the card anyway. So, my friend says, "ma'am I asked you to split the transaction and you agreed." The cashier just says "oh, yes."....I'm assuming that maybe she didn't fully speak English, I'm not sure, but she should have stated that she didn't understand and/or asked for help. read more

You get a bit more individualized service than if you rolled into the cavernous Wal-Mart or Target nearby. Friendly staff gives it a nice touch. I've been to this location a few times and have been pleased each time I've visited. This time I came in just for a hair bonnet and I was in a rush. I saw an employee when I walked in and asked where they were and she pointed me to the bonnets and scarves. I grabbed what I needed and got checked out quickly. The cashier was friendly and quick. First, let me say that I only shop there for fingernail polishes and tools. They have the latest colors and a nice array of tools. I shop at Ulta but even in this little store (it's basically composed of two long aisles) I find a better selection of nail polish colors and variety. For example, at Ulta (Fair Lakes) they only had few of OPI Infinite Shine collection (and they were priced higher) but Sally's had them ALL. The only reason that I gave it four stars is that while I was in the store a VERY grumpy customer came in and the girl at the register gave the woman a bit of attitude. I don't think they should have employees at the front who can't maintain their composure. Besides there were other customers in the store and I feel that the cashier acerbated the situation by not remaining composed. Just my two cents. read more

This is a great place to find generic alternatives to most expensive professional hair care lines. They have a really wide selection of false eyelashes and hair extensions, with decent prices. The girls here are helpful, but not all are cosmetologists. So if you're asking extensive hair color questions, I would recommend you go to a hair professional. read more

Although Sally beauty supply is pretty low on the scale of supply stores, this one really surprised me in a bad way. I think it was the impression left by the manager there. I went there to spend over $200 on hair extensions and I was mostly ignored. I was looking at 2 different colors and one girl was nice adn was trying to help me, I finally got the manager's attention and she reluctantly showed me the extensions. Only when i went to purchase the extensions did she change her attitude. They must have people playing with hair a lot, but that is no excuse for this woman's behavior. I was made to feel like I was lucky she was taking care of me. I would have given them 1 star but the other clerk was actually helpful and kind. This store needs an attitude adjustment. read more
