The first time I came here this week, I was looking for hair color. I was so happy to see their choices for very bright colors! All the good brands! A friend of mine is in cosmetology school and uses one of the brands here. I am forgetting what it is now. But it was nice to see those. And I found my Arctic Fox, Poseidon, and I am very happy! The gal who rang me up was very nice. The second time I came here this week, we were looking for products for my son & his unruly curly hair. He is finally open to doing something with his hair! So the manager walked us around and explained things for his thinning hair. Shampoo and conditioner. And how to use it so it will help his hair stop thinning and grow back thicker. And then she found us a product to put on his hair after shampooing. To help it be more curly. And we got him a hair dryer too with a diffuser. I am hopeful he will watch YouTube videos to see how to work this, and the nice products will help him! Also, we got him a brush. When we got back home, I took out half of the bristles from the brush at the manager's suggestion. And then I put the product on his hair and scrunched it up. His hair looks so much better already. I'm a beautician and I have been in the business for 28 years. I arrived at the store at 9:48AM. I knew I was a bit early so it was not a problem for the employee on duty to be counting her drawer, etc. I sat patiently on the sidewalk in front of the door. The employee proceeded to walk by the door several times with her phone in her hand and waited until 10:02AM to finally let me in. When she let me in it was by opening the lock on the door and walking away. She didn't even speak to me as I walked into the store. I was going to but 2 cases of perms and a color kit but instead got exactly what I needed and proceeded to check out. The staff member didn't even speak to me as I checked out. I will never ever spend my hard earned money at this location again. This incident happened on 8/11/25. Maybe check your video? If I could leave 0 stars I would. read more

Worst Sally's Beauty Supply ! My classmate & I walked to the store from Five Below & Michael's along with our purchased shopping bags. Right when we walked into Sally's, the manager & associate straight up ask us " what do we need " instead of a friendly greet. It's because we had a purchased shopping bag & they Thought that we were going to " STEAL/shoplifting ! " I wonder if this location is that bad ? Or maybe we were Ethnic ? The whole entire time The manager & associate was standing by the exit door ! I mean it was so obvious of how they treated us. Be aware, at this particular location, known for judgmental, the manager and associate to be following around & standing by the exit, especially if you a person of color and coming in from a nearby store, along with a purchased shopping bag. read more

This location has next to no reviews which is absurd considering how many people visit this location on a daily basis, so I'll toss a quick review to boost their exposure and to highlight how much I appreciate this place. Sally's has been around for longer than a little bit, they are a well know store with ethnic brands (Yay!), however they also have brands that you can't find anywhere else (some of their 'in house' stuff) which can suck if you're not near a Sally's and you need to procure your favourite hair care product. This location is always stacked with hand sanitizer. Let me run that back. This location is always stacked with hand sanitizer; so If you need some then this is your spot. They also sell disposal masks. The staff here are always helpful, friendly and not pushy. I have seen people react negativly towards them when they're asked if they need help (which seems genuine) but I also feel customer's come in the store knowing what they want 85% of the time so maybe that response is somewhat warranted. read more

I have to say I've been coming here for quite a while and the staff has always been helpful especially if I'm trying to find something specific. I do wish this place was bigger because there's a lot of good products here but they are filled to the brim. The prices here are also quite reasonable if you're looking for essential items. The worst Sally Beauty Supply I have ever been to, they were rude, didn't greet us when we arrived or asked if we needed help. No prices on nail polish section. Didn't honor the buy 2 get product free, over charged my daughter and then argued with us about the over rings......Will take this complaint to the fullest level, because this is not they way a business should be run or way customers should be treated. read more

I love the products here, and I love the prices. I've bought nail polish, nail files, shampoos, conditioners, face wash, face masks, and exfoliators. All good so far. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the very rude older lady working in the store this evening. The store closes at 8. I came in a little before 7:30, and the first words out of that woman's mouth were "You know we close in 30 minutes." She proceeded to treat almost everyone rudely. STERLING FIRST VISIT. ESCAPED FROM FAIRFAX LOCATION. STERLING: THE GOOD TODAY, yay! I went to the Sterling location in Potomac Run Plaza on Rt 7 East. What a DELIGHT! I was greeted beautifully by a couple employees as I opened the door. The store was sparkling clean, well organized, significantly larger, beautifully stocked and no open boxes in the aisle to stock the shelves, the employees (4 or 5 I think) were delightful, helpful and knowledgeable! The stock had a nice breadth but not always very deep--seemed as if the stock is quickly turned and replaced. I found most everything I needed as recommended by my beautician/colorist. Advice was readily available as I needed for substitutions as the list included "professional only" products. Run, even if out of the way, to Sterling Sally! FAIRFAX: THE BAD AND "UGLY" This has got to be the smallest Sally Beauty Supply I ever been to. Their supplies are thin. Yet there are always boxes in the aisles for restocking, kind of messy. Not even all the hair color brands online are carried in the store. I have a few experiences here so this is not an assessment based on a single visit. My 22 y.o. niece, much more experienced with hair colors of ALL shades--blue, fuchsia, orange, has had to help me with which product was needed and recognizing the couple of packets in stock. I had asked on a previous visit for help based on her directions and was met with a blank stare and no assistance. You can imagine what it is like if you don't know exactly what is needed. The customer service is infrequent at best. I won't say never. There have been a couple of friendly and sometimes helpful employees. It makes me wonder who is being hired, the employees' experience in beauty, how well they might be trained (big question), if they are being paid reasonably and how lousy the potential employee pool may be. I, unfortunately, had come to expect this kind of experience but, locally, it is the only game going. Online suppliers are mostly useless. read more

Bad first impression of your store. I called this morning at 8:30 to confirm what time the store opened. The person who answered the phone said 9:00. I asked her to confirm and said I was on the way. Of course I got there and at 9:00 the clerk walks up to tape a sign on the door "Be back gone to the bank". I asked how long she would be and she said about 15 minutes. Some advice for your clerks might be to be aware people might be on a time crunch and don't promise when you can't deliver. Last time coming here for supplies! read more

Went to this Sally's to purchase a new flat iron. Staff was nice and somewhat helpful, but when I went home I checked the website and was surprised to see that there was a store-wide sale of 'buy a full-priced flat iron and get a curling iron free.' I went to the location near my home in Arlington and found their store was clearly advertising the sale and the employees were very helpful in finding me a new curling iron for free! Not sure why the first location wasn't more on top of the store wide sales.. read more

The order I placed on May first was never delivered. When I went on line to check on it, it said it was cancelled. But I never cancelled it- and I never received it. However, I was charged for it. I called before going, given the virus I wasn't sure if they were open. They were extremely pleasant on the phone. Once I got there, Jocelyn helped me. They were so organized and willing to help. Since I couldn't go in the store, they showed me the products through the window and even recommended other products and deals. I especially appreciated when I paid that she held up the receiver so that I could see the purchase transaction. It was incredible how they were able to serve me and others, while implementing the social distancing guidelines with this pandemic we have ongoing. I go here for things I can't find anywhere else, like that particular nail file, or comb or brush, or LARGE shower caps that actually cover my hair. What you see is what you get, they supply a lot of pros too, so it's a better price than shopping at the drug store. read more
