I called over here on Outer Loop at the New Cut Rd market place before coming over here because it was 530 and they close at six the lady who answered the phone said she would put my developer on the counter and I said OK I'll get there I'll get there by six. I arrived promptly at 5:58 got to the door gas one it was locked Yep other people was behind me trying to get in they would not unlock the door nor would she let me enter purchased the developer that she had sitting right on the counter waiting for me this is a piss poor excuse for a business she knew I was on my way when you come in the door to talk to any of us I give them both a double thumbs downs it wasn't quiet 6pm. Sometimes, I make mistakes. Usually, these mistakes result in minor consequences like a burnt pizza or a few extra miles of road covered. Every once in a while, these mistakes result in full on catastrophe. I usually color my hair at home. I'm sure there are arguments against it but the outcome is usually quite acceptable. Periodically, however, I'll step to the left or the right and try some random different product off of the drugstore shelf. This usually ends badly and I have yet to learn that lesson. Recently, I threw caution to the wind and bought a product that I'd never used before (at the drug store). I ended up with hair the color of Banana Laffy Taffy. It was pretty awful. A trip to a salon didn't really change much and I'd already surpassed my "emergency hair repair" budget. I stopped in this location to grab some toner and conditioner to repair the damage. The aisles here are narrow and it gets crowded with more than two people shopping for the same items. On the day that I dropped in, someone thought that dragging three small children (one of whom screeched like a pasty little gibbon) was a good idea. So, my shopping trip took a little longer than expected because I had to hang out in another aisle to avoid being immersed in that mess. The staff was superbly informative when I asked for help finding a conditioning mask that would make my hair feel less like straw. This Sally Beauty Supply is my only source of several beauty products that I use frequently, like Manic Panic and Beyond the Zone, without having to utilize Amazon.com. The staff is friendly and as helpful as possible. This shop is clean and well organized and is easily navigated. Their prices are fair and often times much cheaper than online and when you catch your favorite products on sale here its hard to beat the price. The store has the basic staples that one should be able to find at a beauty supply store but nothing more. They may have the brand that you want, but there's a large possibility that they won't have the exact color or product. Its an unfortunate hit or miss here. They have an array of heating tools (including the coveted Kardashian collection), cool (non-heated) styling tools, real human hair extensions in a lot of different sizes and price ranges, a plethora of different brands of hair color and developers and plenty of hair coloring supplies like bowls, tinting brushes, caps and aprons. They have a sad collection of alternative/unnatural hair colors from Manic Panic, but they have plenty of Ion Color Brilliance colors to choose from, however the quality of that is much lower. Typically, I would give a store with such offerings and such awful hours (on Sundays their hours are from noon to six) three stars, but because their staff is consistently polite and helpful and because I have no other options besides the world wide web, four stars it is. read more

I'm in town visiting and needed some clippers. I came in and they were super nice. They were very attentive and helpful.

So...I had waaay too much time on my hands and did something that I later regretted. I dyed my hair a dark brown/ black that ended up looking like a black on me and was super harsh on my complexion. They say black is one of the most difficult dyes to remove or correct. I am sooooo glad I Youtube'd how to remove dark hair dye, otherwise I would have gone to a salon, paid a obscene amount ($135 min- I called and asked) all so that they could either perform the same process of stripping I did ( for only $16), or for putting a bunch of "corrective" lifters from my hair, rendering me dependent on them to continue this monetary windfall. So, thank you Youtube. Thank you Sally's Beauty. I bought the fix it hair color remover. I used it the same day, left it on for 30 min. And voila! My hair was a brown with some copper throughout- ladies this was preferred to that black and was not too bad. The ladies at the store were so nice and helpful. I've been a beauty club member, basically since I turned 18 and was able to dye my hair freely without my parents' constraints and I've learned what I know about hair through conversations with the talented people in this location. Like I said I've been frequenting this place for years and the tolls coming to the bridge saddens me because I won't able to come to this location nearly as much, simply due to paying $2 before I even get to the store isn't going to go too well with my bank account. The store is set up nicely where most of the hair color is in the middle aisle, which is my most frequently used place, because as I'm sure you've noticed if you ever seen me in real life or stalked my photos, I change my style a lot! They have plenty of equipment for keeping your hair looking healthy, dyeing, styling and even some cosmetics in the line up as well. The employees have helped me with a couple of disasters several times from over-dyeing my hair or with quick general questions. They are always upbeat and occasionally they compliment me on my dyeing skills. These ladies and gentlemen know their trade and you shouldn't be intimidated by the store being called a beauty supply shop because while the colors say they're only intended for professionals, that's such baloney and it's easy for anyone to get their fingers into it. If you want something really complicated I would recommend going to a professional but if you're just trying to cover some roots and are tired of getting scolded by your stylist to stop using box dye, then Sally's is the right place for you. They'll even recommend shampoos and conditioners that will work for what you want your hair to do. I know I'm a sucker for the little packets of deep conditioning treatment they have the counter, every. Single. Time. I love this store and I'm very upset that I live in Louisville for this reason only. They're simply the best in the area and you won't be steered wrong by choosing this Sally's Beauty Supply over the others if you're in the area. read more
